realize that their days winning with Eli at QB are over and a new plan is needed
taking nothing away from one of the greatest Giants ever to play the position, there is no shame to losing your edge to win as you get older in the NFL
what is most shameful about this whole situation is the poor offensive lines that this organization surrounded Eli with over the last 5 years of his career...total mismanangement of resources
I'm hoping we don't fall into the trap that a new shiny rookie QB is the answer and that's all we do heading into 2019.
This is a dire situation in which talent is needed all over the field. In addition to having a young quarterback, we need at least 2 OL, a competent number 3 WR, and a speedy number 4 WR who can hopefully return punts/kicks.
On defense, the situation may be even more dire. We need pass rushers. Vernon is all we have that you can count as a pass rusher, and he is overpaid. We also need playmakers in the back 7. Ogletree's a nice vet, but he's not a difference maker. Carter's flashed some, and hopefully he can progress. As far as the secondary, Riley isn't good enough. Collins seems to have regressed. Other than Jenkins, I'm not really confident in Apple, Webb, and whatever else we have there. A guy like Snacks is starting to break down also, as you can't just eat up double teams into your 30s. Hill and Tomlinson may be okay going forward, but there's not a lot of talent on the defensive side either.
But I’d prefer to see this team win a bunch of “meaningless” games rather than lose them.
Losing begets losing. Look at the same teams in the top ten of these Nfl drafts. Seems to be a lot of the same teams year after year. We’ve been picking top ten nearly every year too. How’s that working out?
I'm not hoping to lose for sure let the chips fall where they may I want to see individual players get better and
see what kind of players we have that are worth keeping
I don't think anyone expected the O-line to be worse.
Picking top 10 certainly helps .
I want to see some winning football even in a loss like Carolina . I do want to see Eli put some wins up as well .
Its not Eli's fault that he is behind a crap line that
can't get the best RB on the planet a whole to run through .

Yeah top ten alright, Flowers Apple, Pugh (close) and when you screw that up you pay the price!
We win another game. OBJ HAD to be quiet last year, he was hurt and had no contract and an outburst would have hurt his big shiny new deal. Eventually the reporters are going to be very hard on OBJ in attempting to get headlines...."OBJ, you just signed 100 million dollars deal, don't you think you could be doing more?" He can handle that the first 10xs but as it get's more insulting? He starts hearing people in the media criticize him for his less than 100 million dollar numbers...how do you honestly think that is going to play? This locker room is going to explode during the bye week.
We will end up with 5 wins. It takes a lot of luck to lose 13. Remember even last year our competitors for draft position were winning games down the stretch. With beckham, Barkley, and some good players on d, there's enough to scrape out some wins.

I'm just going to respond to you because I posted basically the same thing in another thread and didn't get a response. Just so you know, there's at least one person who agrees with you. With the holes we have, we are two drafts away from competing if not more.
I absolutely hate it, it is soul crushing to me. I cannot root against us but knowing our fate I accept that we're going to blow chunks and pick top 5. At this point it's what I want to happen ultimately. If we get another draft like the one we just had we're off to the races soon.

It's certainly a sad state of affairs, and I really wish it wasn't the case. But, we do need multiple upgrades in multiple positions. And, I think more importantly, there's a feeling in this organization like losing is starting to become expected.
Once that happens, it's going to be really tough to get out of that mindset.
they will string together a few wins at some point this year. Too many talented players not too. Eli still has the ability to surprise and have a big game or two. Probably a top ten pick but don't count us having the pick of the litter

DG just needs to stay true to his word and commit to rebuilding the trenches. This year was a good start. He has to follow it up with another strong off-season.
If the Giants get more quality along the OL and get a pass rush on defense, they’ll have enough to win.

I hav ealse been posting our needs...
Forget depth... This just what we need as starting players:
3 OL (not just 2), and 4th soon enough, since Solder is 30 and he may not even pass muster now.
1 QB
1 WR
2 Edge rushers (1 OLB, 1 DL)
1 ILB
2 corners (3 if age catches up to JJ)
1 safety
That means we still need to turn over half the starting roster. Let me add a few more to my wish list...
I don't think either of out ILBs are playmakers and since Vernon will be gone after this year, we don't have any playmaking OLBs either. So that's really 4 new LBs. A 4th WR to who can be a returner. A short yardage back. Depth everywhere.
All this, and imagine, we had a highly productive draft that gave us 3 solid rookie starters. Another draft like that will help, but its not nearly enough to stop the sucking.
DG just needs to stay true to his word and commit to rebuilding the trenches. This year was a good start. He has to follow it up with another strong off-season.
This year was a good start to rebuilding the trenches?
Does Gettleman do road work during his off time that I don't know about? Because if there's one thing that's broken on the Giants, it's the trenches.
Unless of course you're stoked about the quality OL rebuild...
Watching my favorite team win games is always fun Â

Hernandez and Solder were a start on offense. Still need a lot of work there.
Defensively he added some solid front seven pieces in Hill, Carter, and Ogletree.
The Giants have been pretty good vs the run. They simply have one of the worst pass rushes in the league.
I’d go into FA/draft looking to add a quality pass rusher, RG, and RT. I’d also look for a FS and C. If they can upgrade those spots they’ll be in the mix next year.
My fear is that we take a QB high in a weak class this year... Â
man...thats scary!

Barkley had a monster game last week and the Giants were crushed.
This could happen after playing Lauletta a couple games then give Eli a final game for his farewell.
Who will have top 3 pick with a need at qb though?
BUFF
ARIZONA
SF
Maybe OAK..

I’m hoping for the same from our opponent. Let’s make Dak look like an All-Pro and hope it gives Dallas a reason to give him a big contract.
