Yesterday was a bit of nail biter, but seemingly every top team had their struggles yesterday.
The offense, outside of yesterday, has looked really damn good since Book took over. The defense has been solid all season long.
Remaining schedule:
10/27 vs. Navy in San Diego.
11/3 at Northwestern
11/10 vs. Florida State
11/17 vs. Syracuse @ Yankee Stadium.
11/27 at USC
They've struggled lately in November so that's a concern. But they should be favored in each of their remaining 5 games.
We don't have a cake schedule at all.
Navy always plays us tough and we cant stop the triple option worth a damn.
NW is playing good football.
FSU is not a pushover they were in Sept
Syracuse is known to play spoiler
USC at USC is always a tough game.
We are still on the outside looking in. LSU's huge win vs Georgia may have vaulted them into spot 4 in the CFP rankings. If they beat Alabama (which is a long shot) They are in. I can def see us getting screwed if we have 1 loss. It would be hard to exclude ND if we went undefeated since LSU has to play Bama and the Dawgs have to play Alabama (or LSU if they pull off a miracle) in the SEC champ game.
First rankings come out a week from Tuesday. We will see where we are then.
Anyway Irish have a bye week this weeks. So rest up, heal up.
The defense is much better than it has been in years. Offense had trouble with Pitt yesterday by confusing the QB for 3 quarters.
I am not sure they are a top 10 team.
The LSU win is HUGE for ND. I think the chances of 2 SEC teams getting in has decreased dramatically. A lot of SEC games still to be played and the first domino has fallen. LSU or UGA would have to beat Bama to muddy the waters even further. But if Bama runs the table, they will be the only SEC team in the playoff.
This team has won some tough games vs Stanford and VT. But I still don't think this team is as dominant as some others do.
You should play each game like only your best gives you a chance to win and every loss knocks you out.
Win out, and I think they can, there's no way they get left out of the top 4. Cause, you know, they're ND.
Lose one game and there's no way they make the top 4, barring disasters for other teams on a cosmic proportion.
History says they will drop one of these remaining games. Maybe yesterday was it, and they managed to sneak by with a win.
They're not as good as Alambama, but that applies to everyone else too.
Only team that could/should arguably be above them in the polls is LSU... but this is college football and undefeated usually trumps 1 loss.

those teams they beat are not juggernauts btw so stop with that.

That's great in theory, but doesn't work in college football for pretty much anyone other than Alabama. These are 20 year-old kids who get up and down for games. Yesterday's game against PITT wasn't an indication of who Notre Dame really is. It's what happens when kids play 2 big primetime games in a row, then think they're going to show up and roll someone.
The only games that worry me are the last 2. Syracuse is a solid team, but I could see the Irish having almost the same reaction they had yesterday. That game is sandwiched between Senior Day and the finale at USC.
Gotta give the defense credit. Even without Elko, this is the best speed, pass rush, and secondary they've had in forever. Hopefully, Jafar Armstrong is back after the bye.
