What we learned today

mdthedream : 10/14/2018 7:16 pm
Watching the NFC East teams play. Everyone of them are better than we are and its not close. Eli truly is done and it is time to go. Look at even Prescott you can see the pressure he just steps and moves to the side. Eli would have been sacked 6 times even not more. Smith same thing a lot better than Eli.Lets not kid ourselves anymore and let someone else play.

when the Giants were 1-4 and fans thought if they beat the Eagles the Giants would have as good a chance to emerge as the best team in that division was a MIRAGE!!

Now the Cowboys, Eagles & Redskins ALL have 3 wins and they've left the Giants in the rear view mirror. Get ready for another last place finish :(

But apparently, a lot of teams have all day to throw.

Worst line, true, and by far. Horrendous. But other teams QBs can make plays when they get rushed, ours absolutely cannot.

Shut the fuck up already. There’s more than one problem on this team. I’ve expressed a million times to move on from Eli. So either shut the fuck up or ignore my posts.

You’re the knobslobber who accused Eli of being a quitter so you really have some nerve calling out posters.

I want to know what exactly Dave Gettleman saw in Omameh??? This Franchise now are the CLEVELAND BROWNS of the NFC. A laughing stock. Maras are caught up in nostalgia not winning. The mobile QB mantra only works if the team you're talking about wins their game. Like today, see Prescott, Dak. Watson, Deshaun. Darnold, Sam.

When they don't win, you just ignore it. Like Mariota, Bortles, and Winston.

In particular the Falcons, I paid attention to how long it took Ryan to get the ball out of there. He was pressured plenty, despite the fact that he tends to get rid of the ball in under 3 seconds almost every play (the ones that don't involve play action).

In particular, he got whaled on the long play to Jones (?) that got them into the redzone early on. Hung in there and got blasted, but completed the play.

for those who missed history, Mariota was sacked more than he completed passes today. He was sacked 12 times!!

Number of points an offense that had that kind of OL play put up? 0

With a mobile QB.

He didn't just look bad, he looked historically bad.

And here's a little peek behind the curtain: QB's who play behind a bad OL are going to look really bad.

Eli doesn’t get 3 seconds often. And Ryan had plenty of time to throw all day.

I'm not sure Matt Ryan is the one we want any QB to emulate. Tough kid, but seems to be a loser in the end.

Still can't get over him taking that sack in the Super Bowl to drive ATL out of field goal position which would have put them up 2 scores.

Put Darnold on this team right now, and we're still 1-5.

There will be quarterbacks in the next two drafts, and we will likely have high picks in both drafts. So, we take one of those quarterbacks. NCAA FB is not going to go to the single wing, for God's sake.

No Flowers did not play. They showed him on the sideline staring blankly at the field, with his mouth open. He looked like he was trying to comprehend what was on display before him. Only thing missing was a dunce cap. I guess we will have to wait until next week for 'TC to turn him around'.

opinion is still the same. The OL is a worse problem than Eli, as evidenced by the fact that despite being completely electrifying, Barkley is routinely hit in the backfield by more than one rusher. Eli is also frequently facing multiple rushers before he even reaches the top of his drop. Most defenses can control our OL with just four or five players. Eli is therefore often throwing against six or seven defenders, usually against a cover 2 shell.

But Eil's complete immobility magnifies the bad OL. He can't extend plays with his feet anymore, but instead has to be willing to take a hit to do so. He is 37, and has taken many beatings. The Giants simply didn't protect him well enough throughout his career. The end result is that he checks down a lot, and our weapons look wasted. I'd be surprised if we didn't see Lauletta this season.

I do watch other games. Other teams have better OL, but most are still bad. Bobby Hart is the starting RT for the Bengals. OL play has deteriorated because of the proliferation of spread offenses in college. Many college OL are rarely in a three point stance, and don't have to hold their blocks for very long because the ball is often thrown quickly. NFL DEs are also much quicker and stronger than they were even 10 years ago. The difference is that other teams have more mobile QBs who can extend plays.

My opinion on DG is split. His draft was excellent through the first three rounds. He also smartly traded JPP. But his FA signings were poor, including Solder, Omameh, Barwin, Martin, and Stewart. He also mistakenly believed that Eli could be productive for another three or four years, when it looks like this may well be his last year.
