These are my teams:
Football:
Both of my favorite teams get absolutely annihilated by my most hated opponent.
Basketball:
Knicks have been awful for years, and this year is about to be another shit show
Wisconsin Basketball meanwhile has the worst year in two decades and misses march madness. They also can't get a single commitment to save their damn lives.
Hockey:
Not a huge Rangers guy but they quite clearly are terrible.
Soccer:
USMNT misses the world cup for the first time in decades. NYCFC who I have season tickets to changes coaches mid year and has been on an absolute nosedive. Meanwhile their rival is about to finish with the most points in the league.
I don't have a single team to get excited about. I think I've hit rock bottom.
Overall it's just an awful time for New York Sports. Even a successful team like the Yankees ended their season in disappointment. So if your college team isn't salvaging things, it's a rough go right now
Even my FF teams suck. And my new job sucks too.
When we suffer through the bad years it makes the championships all the sweeter.
Knicks have been irrelevant for almost 2 decades, so that's, whatever.
2016 was fun for both Giants and Mets but both crashed and burned quickly in the playoffs and have been a disaster since.
However, the Devils are really fun and have a bright future. I'm very happy hockey is back.
only if Bush comes in and plays LB.
I may have to get back into the WWE. I heard they brought back DX......
Even the Yankees winning 100 games means nothing after losing to the scum in the ALDS.
Something - there's some god we haven't appeased that's responsible for all of this.
I root for (in order) NYG, Syracuse FB & BB, Red Sox, pro road cycling, UVM BB, Dartmouth FB & Celtics.
Enough diversions, but I follow the Giants year round, so the misery is prolonged.
I saw them beat the #4 team in the state 62-0.
Nuts.
The Knicks and Rangers are in tank mode, but at least they both seem committed to a rebuild plan, so they’re worth watching and following to see how the young guys develop
But I’m with you guys who just hate when we look forward to football season and the Giants are essentially done after a few weeks
I haven't watched the NHL in years. Their season is interminably long -- it starts too late, and they're playing their Finals in June for crying out loud.
I find entertaining Hockey in the ECHL, where the Carolina Stingrays play good fundamental Minor League Hockey in a balanced League. Game Tix are only $22 for 6 rows from the Ice.
My former Baseball team stinks on Ice....they can't get GM Candidates to return their phone calls. I can see all the baseball I want right here in town -- front row seats behind the dugout are $20. Cold Craft IPA beers are $7 bucks.
As far as Football goes, after Clemson beats the snot out of any ACC or SEC team on Saturday....what happens on Sunday is incidental. Even on their Bye Week Clemson looks strong.
I'm not stressing out over Millionaires who don't seem to give a care when they shit the bed on Prime Time TV.

It's brutal. Only thing worse was four years of Joel Stave. Can't believe we've been stuck with 7 years of shit as punishment for Russell Wilson.
Think there's a real chance Graham Mertz becomes a 4 year starter, either as a true frosh or RS frosh once Horni leaves.
Same.
But I still feel all right.
Giants - Barkley and some others give me reason to look forward.
Knicks - Looks like a front office is in place that is trying to patiently, intelligently construct a team.
Mets - A core group that finished the season well, and but for one month of puke-making baseball, it wasn't a bad team to follow in 2018. Plus, a new GM ... I'm hopeful.
Islanders - Well, I'm not a big hockey fan, but I can always fall back on The Dynasty. lol

I think I have you beat Jon

I am about to adopt St. Frances Academy (#2 HS team in the country on MaxPreps) here in Baltimore since they play right near my house but they have really bad competition. I went to the game on Friday but it was too one-sided to enjoy.
My D3 rooting interest is my dad's alma mater (US Merchant Marine Academy) and they are having a surprisingly good year so that's something.
But at least I have the Knicks.
FFS, it's October and both the Rangers AND Giants are done.
I saw them beat the #4 team in the state 62-0.
Nuts.
But they weren't REALLY #4 in the state. Those rankings were based on their state title a couple years ago. They hadn't played anyone. While most were predicting a barnburner, I picked it 42-20 SV, and that pick was made BEFORE NV's best RB/CB was injured and forced to miss the game.
NV dropped to something like 23-24 in the state poll, and promptly lost 10-7 to Oneonta, which was winless coming into that game.
SV is really good. But they haven't had to play anyone since the opener in the Carrier Dome.
But it's still tank mode across the board in all 4 sports. Even most of my supplemental teams in other sports suck too.
And usa soccer was an absolute back breaker. How do you not qualify from concacaf?
Top team for me right now is Liverpool and thank god for that. The anti-Giants basically. Winning and capable of absolutely mesmerizing performances when they are on. And Klopp might be the most likeable coach in world sport. Frankly the Giants being dogshit is sort of a blessing because it’s a nice bargaining chip with my wife if she is annoyed I am watching sports all weekend. I can prioritize the Liverpool game and skip the Giants and miss out on nothing.
Oh lord...
You're a BULLS, PHILLIES, and GIANTS fan and you'd probably be a Penguins fan if you liked hockey. Who the fuck roots for that combination of teams? It's like you just jumped on the Jordan bandwagon in the 90's and started throwing darts at a map.
I stopped rooting for the Mets because I despise the people who run the team. Not because I can't handle losing.
If I couldn't handle the losing part I wouldn't have sat through those awful mid-90's teams, the 2002 team.. the 2003 team,, 2004... 2005... massive collapses in 2007 and 2008.. awful 2009... 2010... 2011... 2012.... 2013... 2014... ooh a World Series loss in 2015... a play in loss in 2016... a non competitive 2017 and another non competitive start to 2018.
The Wilpon's are crooks, they don't care about fielding a winning team and they don't deserve anyone's loyalty or money.
And my pro sports fandom right now is the Giants, Rangers and Knicks. All of which are TERRIBLE. I've never ever suggested that I would stop rooting for any of the 3.
James Dolan is a scumbag, but both MSG teams have always tried to win even if their methods were misguided or didn't work. I'm excited about the Rangers rebuild, I think the Knicks finally have the correct plan in place, and as annoyed as I am about the Giants and their recent run of pure incompetency - Super Bowls 42 and 46 were two of the greatest moments for me ever as a sports fan and those alone are reason enough for me to be a Giants fan for the rest of my life.
The Giants are and have always been the team I care the most about of all the ones I follow. It kills me when they fucking suck like this and are a complete joke. This is as bad as its ever been. But I know one day they'll get it fixed. I don't know how the fuck they'll do it... but they will. And if it takes 5 more years, so be it. I'll suck it up. I would never root for the fucking Jets and I would never root for a pro team outside of New York (even though the Giants technically don't play in NY)
In short, suck it, depper.
Giants games I very often record the game and start watching late so I can fast forward through commercials. I don’t really want to spend 3+ hours watching a game anymore.
