With Atlanta Next - Things to expect

dep026 : 10/15/2018 11:32 am
1. Lots of Points. I think we have a good chance of breaking 30 again. Ryan will have a field day with a lack of pass rush. If Ridley plays, they have 3 good Wrs and a TE that can expose us in the secondary.
2. Barkley will have a very good chance of breaking 250 yards combined. Such a stud.
3. Eli has been kicked and stomped for the last week. So of course he has an old school bounce back game with 350 and 3 TDs... thus raising madness at BBI whether he still has it or not (even with a game like this - its time to move on).
4. OBJ goes ape shit for 170 and 2 scores and proposes to a fan (not a person, the object).
5. We win - half of BBI thinks we are back in the playoff picture the other half pissed we lose out on draft position.

Giants make the Falcons D look like the '85 Bears
lawguy9801 : 10/15/2018 12:54 pm : link
Falcons 37, Giants 24 (we get a couple of garbage time TDs against prevent defenses to make the score not horrific)
And oh yeah

Eli scurrying around like a scared little girl, complete with falling down a couple of times without being hit. Another "Eli face" or two to add to the internet memes.

It's Monday. I am tired. I am expecting the unexpected. Maybe bullish on the win. But it would definitely cause chaos here so I can see it happening.

You forgot to add the 5 minute drives of dinking and dunking down the field for a score so that we are kickinng off with 10 seconds left down by 13. I fucking hate that.
if the giants win
hassan : 10/15/2018 1:21 pm : link
it should not change anything regarding long term decision making. they literally have to get to 500 before anyone should be overly optimistic.

and i don’t see that in the cards.

much more under center, hand it off type offense. Use barkley exclusively and occasional play action. The only way this isnt high scoring is if the Giants dominate TOP.

I can't agree more. But where has this been all season??

Go max protect sometimes. Double TEs. Actually use your TEs versus slow LBs.

There's still been way too much shotgun for my liking...........and where's the play action? Even though Barkley hasn't consistently gained plus yards - he's still back there and a threat. Utilize just the threat. Defenses are more than aware of him!!!!!

I hope the extra days is a reason to re-assess and figure out a way to make things work better.

Despite the bad OL - the offense should be better. And it's not all on Eli. Understand what you are working with and adjust.
They haven't been happy with Vic Beasley this year IIRC.

if you think the Giants will beat Atlanta - or even play well against them

This game will be a disaster and I'm seriously considering not watching and going to bed early

It's just not worth suffering and going to bed late and having to get up at 5:30 am to get ready for work --- that would be total SM
I'm expecting Atlanta to score a lot

and Eli to throw a ton of 3 yard passes. 34-17 bad guys.

Atlanta is probably the worst team we have faced so far this year outside Houston. They arent good.

IDK....this is the Giants "good" week.

Did you think they'd beat the Texans?

Take the points!!!! LOL

I’ll be heading down to the Atl for the game. I’m hoping to see Saquon have a good game which should help us put some points on the board but I just don’t see how we slow down the dirty birds offense.

Neither are the Giants.

In fact, the Giants are almost certainly worse.

oh no doubt. But Atlanta stinks too. Their ineptness is less than ours.

ATL has a horrendous defense, but they do have a top 10 offense. Something that is laughably out of reach for the Giants, who are currently 27th in points scored.

Almost hard to believe there could be 5 teams in this league who have scored less... but I'm sure we'll move below them before long.

You clearly haven't seen Buffalo or Arizona attempt to play offense.
I'm just tuning in for Barkley at this point.
bceagle05 : 10/15/2018 2:07 pm : link
Should be a doozy of a highlight reel against that dumpster fire of a defense. Unfortunately, we'll still lose by two scores.

I have, and they're awful - but both teams have rookie QB's and I think Rosen and Allen will at least get a little better by season's end.

We don't have that same excuse.
or Tennessee for that matter.

Good thing Mariota is mobile and was able to limit the Ravens to 11 sacks, hate to think how many more times they would have gotten sacked a less mobile QB.

is if our OL gets worse, as sobering as that sounds. Eli is done, but he is not incompetent. We have good skilled players. EE is coming back and our schedule is gonna get easier with Atl, TB, SF, Indy.....
Eli does play better in domed stadiums
Simms11 : 10/15/2018 2:16 pm : link
for whatever reason, but this is in Atlanta on a Monday night, nationally televised game. Atlanta will want to show that they are not the shitshow that their fans think they are and will embarrass the Giants. Could it be close, perhaps, but I think this is Atlanta's game to lose.
I expect a two score loss at best

Expect the Falcons to put up 30+ points
Dave in PA : 10/15/2018 2:20 pm : link
That alone = a loss. Barkley may in fact go bonkers and break the single game rushing record, or not, the not part is definitly a small possibility.
.
arcarsenal : 10/15/2018 2:22 pm : link
JAX/DAL is a perfect example of what should happen not happening.

Bottom tier offense against a top tier defense and the Cowboys lit them up.

The Bears D against Brock Osweiler had everyone salivating... and the Dolphins won the game and put up 31 points.

That's the NFL for ya.
and everyone expected ATL-TB and NE-KC to be shootouts
YAJ2112 : 10/15/2018 2:25 pm : link
and they were. Sometimes the expected happens as well.
I'm expecting
The_Boss : 10/15/2018 2:28 pm : link
Another non competitive prime time beat down vs a team with superior offensive weapon.

My guess today, a week out?

Something like 38-13 Falcons.
Chance
Thegratefulhead : 10/15/2018 2:34 pm : link
We need a lead. If the other team were to say, throw an interception on its first play and we were to score, then maybe, they fumble the ensuing kickoff and we recover and score again, we might win. It is more likely the opposite happens and we pile up some garbage time statistics that make it seem we are not laughingstock that we are.
I'm willing to bet......
Robert : 10/15/2018 2:47 pm : link
that on Atlanta sports radio this week, they'll be talking about how this is a "get right" game for the Falcons, almost like having a bye to heal up. This team can't score 20 points, and if they do, it's as if it's an accident or something, and we owe the opposition an apology.
Im waiting for our version

Absolutely. "There's the first touchdown reception for Jones". It's guaranteed. It should be easy with Jenkins giving 20-30% effort.

Watch for a bomb from Sanu for a TD.

The Giants D is a setup for this and Sanu throws a nice ball. Collins will bite on the end around and Riley, well, you know.

Book it.

Until Manning can re-center himself and let the plays that are there open up, the Giants aren't scoring a lot points outside of garbage time.

He's getting beat like a cake mix and I don't blame him for what's happened. But there are plays to be had.

I expect Barkley to be held under 100 fr the first time this year but the Giants win 17-13.
I never root for the Giants to lose.
Matt M. : 10/16/2018 1:27 am : link
But, this week I'm torn. This is a game that could be a crazy shootout and we could actually win. But, a win will actually hurt their draft position. IT's still early, but the reality is this team isn't reeling off 8 or 9 wins the rest of the way. So, would you rather see 2-4 more wins knocking us out of the top 5 picks? I can't pull myself to actively root for a loss. But, after each loss I can rationalize our improved draft position.

Go out and try and become a winning football team. Find out what you have on the team and that includes finding out in Lauletta has a future.

Heck...4-5 wins might take a top draft position anyways. I'd feel OK about 5-11 with a top 5 pick.
