to argue. Even with full health they figure to be quite bad and odds of all of the best players staying healthy are quite low. I mean their depth includes Hicks, Kornet, Mudiay, Dotson, Baker.. Lance Thomas is a key piece of the rotation, Knox/Robinson are rookies, Frank isn't a fully formed player. if they win 30 games it would be pretty shocking.

with what looks to be a sensation headline and yet the Knicks are doing 100% the right thing

Knicks dragging out rookie’s roster promotion

David Fizdale said undrafted rookie guard Allonzo Trier’s two-way contract will not be ripped up until, at the earliest, after his 45 days of service is completed on the Knicks roster. Trier still can play, but technically will not be on the 15-man roster when it is set Monday.

Trier had a scintillating training camp, posting a 25-point night and an 18-point evening. But he came back to earth Friday in the Knicks’ 113-107 loss to the Nets in their final preseason game. After averaging 15.8 points in 22.6 minutes and boasting the team’s second-highest preseason scoring average, Trier scored just eight points and shot 2-for-9 against the Nets.

“We have 45 days of him working with us to figure out what’s the next move,’’ Fizdale said before the game. “We are in the process of working with that and finding the best way to stretch that out. Obviously the kid has shown he’s an NBA basketball player. It’s a matter of us doing it in a way that’s best for the team. He’s showing he just has a knack for putting the ball in the hole and showed he’s a competitor defensively.”

6 teams with >98% of making the postseason. 3 more >90% and 11 total >80%.

Almost no point in watching the regular season.
I think they draft in the 4-6 range, rather than the usual 8-10.

Br00klyn : 10/15/2018 12:16 pm : link
As much as I want to see this team improve and be a playoff team this year, this very well could be a year where you want to draft in the top 3-5. There is some fantastic talent that could potentially be at the top of next years draft

Are going to be awful. The only X factor is going to be KP, but I’d be shocked if he played any meaningful amount of time this year. Especially without a contract.

I just hope they go all in. Trade or waive Kanter at some point. I doubt it’s possible but trade Hardaway in a salary dump. Hopefully a contender has a key injury and takes a chance on him.

Would be great to add some extra picks.

That's exactly what I think when I think of the Knicks...
KNicks don't have to tank,
Keith : 10/15/2018 1:15 pm : link
they should be terrible organically. Their pick is fully dependant on KP, IMO. They need to keep him out as long as possible, but it's also important that they get him PT with the young guys. I think Jan/Feb works, even though he's probably close to being able to play now. I hope KP is ok with that.

i do think knicks will be a little bit better than expected to start then fade as guys like knox and mitchell start to get tired..

plus there will be games where hardaway and kanter will carry the team, but will not be consistent, at least hardaway...

i thjnk they will be fun to watch because they will play hard and run but lose a lot of games in the final seconds because they do not have that closer

bceagle05 : 10/15/2018 1:41 pm : link
to steal a few extra wins down the stretch of lost seasons. That's what happens when coaches are coaching for their jobs. Fiz should have the security to play the young guys this year, so I'll live with the win total.

I agree. With that said, watching Tim Hardaway go off in meaningless games at the end of the season that hurts your draft position is pretty frustrating.

I don't care what anyone says, the goal of this season needs to be securing the highest pick possible and developing Knox/ Frank/ Robinson etc. Nothing else matters.

Just want to see some progression from these young guys as the season goes along, effort on the defensive end, and heart. Can't ask for much more than that.

Come back to bbi after a few games. I put the over/under at game 3 for when fans are freaking out about Lance Thomas' PT.

3 seems high.

I reserve the right to criticize as well. Because I want them to win too, but really, it's sort of a holding pattern until the Knicks get another draft pick and some FA talent.

I wonder whether they might suggest to him in February that they probably won't trade him because they don't want to take on any bad contracts. However, they might offer that if he accepts a small buyout, that they would release him and let him find a contender for the playoff run. That's probably in his best interests- and the Knicks.

Wouldn't shock me. Flaws aside he's the perfect "cheap" signing for a team looking to add some extra depth/offense during a playoff/title run. A team like Houston looking to add one more piece etc. I actually get the feeling the Knicks will be actively tanking late in the season.

Lottery is for the first 4 picks of the draft. So if you have the worst pick, you are guaranteed a top 5 pick.

Even if things all went right for the Knicks they just don’t have any real star power or depth. There’s no way in hell this team wins more than 28 games and it’s likely gonna be more like 20-24.

And yet I can’t wait. My sports life is in shambles.

The nba needs to find a way to validate the last month or so of the regular season. They are wasting potential drama and revenue. The last 6 weeks or so of the season is complete trash. Figure something out.
