Seahawks owner, Microsoft Co-Founder Paul Allen dies at 65

Ben in Tampa : 10/15/2018 6:18 pm
Breaking via AP.

Wow, Paul Allen was an American Titan of business. Savior of PAC Northwest sports: owners of the Seahawks, Trail Blazers and co-owned the Sounders.

Very Sad

Sad to hear. Look at him and Jobs, two tech gazillionaires lost to cancer, goes to show you can’t put a price on health. Have to appreciate any time you have when you and your loved ones are generally healthy - everything else can be solved.

Yeah I was just going to post the same thing. Meanwhile, I used to have a partnership with the Blazers.. they had a nice corporate atmosphere.
Worth noting re: his sports franchises,

He has no wife or children. Not immediately clear the succession plan for the Seahawks and others

When we changed out Film technology system in NFL to very expensive equipment, it was so expensive that other owners wanted to phase it in to amortize costs over years..Allen paid for every NFL team's system and has let them pay him back over time...was in meeting when he offered
Dude was a legend in the Pacific Northwest.

Owner of the 'Hawks, Blazers, & Sounders, pretty much the three biggest fan bases in that region. And yes, I think the Sounders are more beloved in Seattle than the Mariners. Now if/when the Sonics return, they'll be a huge draw too.

Funniest story I ever heard. One of my friend;s brothers was really smart. He went to Harvard. His roommate was Steve Balsam. He hung around with the three founders of Microsoft-Balsam,Paul Allen and Bill Gates. He did not like bunk beds so he asked to have his room changed and got in with a different crowd.

That's the funniest story you have ever heard? You need to get out more Hilary.

And Paul Allen never went to Harvard. He met Gates in high school. But Allen went to Washington or somewhere in Washington state. He did work in Boston for Honeywell, and it was Allen who convinced Gates to drop out and start Microsoft, but Allen never went to Harvard.

Gates only lasted two years at Harvard anyway. And I think you mean Steve Ballmer, not Steve Balsam whoever that is.

Allen and Gates were both college dropouts.

Funny story though.

So was Zuckerberg for that matter - what is it with Harvard? They can't seem to keep really successful people....?
