The Giants say they have a succession plan for life after Eli Manning. That plan cannot entirely wait until the 2019 draft, hoping they find one with a top-five pick. How about trading with the Colts for Jacoby Brissett?
in China. And in China, you've got a huge emerging market that doesn't know football yet, so a lot of potential customers who might think the Giants are good.
That's the only way trading for Brissett makes any sense.
“Matt Williamson of John Clayton Football recently made the case for why that player should be Colts backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett. Williamson even offered the framework for a potential trade with the Giants and Colts involving Brissett.
According to Williamson, the Giants should send their 2019 NFL Draft second-round pick to the Colts for Brissett:”

Not so a second but would consider a fourth. Depends on if you think he has upside. He's only 25, he can move, and he has a year of starting under his belt. He was not great last year but not a complete disaster.
If he had been a first round pick, nobody would bat an eye at his performance last year and he would get trotted out for another year. Later round picks don't get that luxury and can sometimes be under valued as a result.
I'm not necessarily advocating it, but I don't think it's so crazy that I would dismiss it out of hand. For a fourth though. Not a 2.
That would only make sense if you were making a run and needed an experienced backup just in case. Know where Brisset makes sense? Back in New England.
For a 1-5 team going nowhere? Nonsense.
Eli is better than Brissett, why would we? Now Carr is a thought Â
Brady is 40 years old and near retirement yet Belichick clearly didnt think Brissett was a worthy successor to Brady so he traded him. If he's not good enough to replace Brady (or Andrew Luck if the Colts are willing to trade him) he's not good enough to replace Manning. Why should the Giants settle for someone two other teams were willing to get rid of?
Why? Give up a draft pick and get a backup to finish out of the playoffs and then draft a QB anyway? I can’t believe these guys make a living as writers. Eh, I guess it spawned a thread on BBI and got some clicks.
But not to go with a career backup qb that is not on our roster. The only acceptable move here is to give the ball to lauletta. Everything else is just a waste of time and money
We already traded two picks for Ogletree and used on on Beal Â
will allow the Giants the cap room needed to finally get better.Just look at the Rams,Eagles as examples. We don't need to trade a draft pick, instead if the losing trend continues, we need to move players for picks before the October 30th trade deadline!
If Eli leaves, the Giants will need to sign a vet FA before the draft Â
Why trade for a QB at all. So he can die behind a non-existant line in a scheme that doesn't get the ball to the 10 yard marker let alone the end zone?
If you get rid of Eli during this season you play Lauletta and tanney in that order. If you get rid of him in the off season, you draft a QB or build an O-line and then trade for one. No sense in putting the cart before the horse. Shurmur may have been great at developing young QBs or a great OC but he's a shite HC.....

Round pick next year.

A 2nd rounder for Jacoby Brissett.
Welcome to QB hell.
Simms to Hoss to Simms to Brown to Kannell to Graham to Collins
Hopefully we don't go through that again

No 2nd or 3rd round picks.
Yeah, don’t think so.

Yea. Trading assets for marginal bets is bad. One of the benefits of a QB switch is having a cheap QB
After reading this article Fat Man In Charlotte might need CPR
For a 1-5 team going nowhere? Nonsense.
If I’m trading assets it’s to move up for a guy like Herbert or Fromm in 2020. Not a guy destined as a career backup. QB hell indeed.
Checkdown Carr?
You can’t dismiss guys like Brissett or Bridgewater or any other current backup.

Carr is damaged goods.
Trading for Brissett would be stupid. No thanks.
