to be interested in seeing how well he adapts to the NFL. I get the 'weak arm' bit, but he seems to move well and he is accurate. Maybe not the guy you want on a blustery day in November in the Meadowlands, but there's enough to want to see what this kid can do...
Question - have the psychiatrists made any breakthroughs with him since the preseason? Since we've been told repeatedly he'd get PTSD behind this OL, I'm wondering whether he's still huddled in a corner of a dark room and crying.
Yeah this David Carr syndrome shit is driving me nuts. Â
Those are the real makers and breakers, but that assumes Adequate Arm Talent or better. There's really not much in the way of an impressive throw in this entire batch. z
There are guys who've built Arm Strength....Brady. Lauletta is a rare QB Prospect who may fail because he just doesn't throw well enough, and doesn't have the arm strength. Usually, that hurdle is already answered before a QB gets to an NFL Camp....still...you don't know if a guy is an NFL QB until he plays.
nor do I think Webb is either. Webb had the arm and the athleticism but was lacking in poise. The first Preseason game this year was the best indicator. New Coach, 2nd year, wants to make a big impression and goes out there and shits the bed. That's not a sign of a clutch qb. Something that Eli has in spades that I don't think you can discount.
KL looks like a solid back up, a smart guy that knows the game and will support the starter, like another coach. Maybe he can win a few, but he isn't the future. He reminds me of Danny Kannell
moves well in the pocket, and is at least somewhat of a threat to run. He is also an anticipation thrower, and reads defenses well. But his lack of arm strength is obvious. Whether that can be improved is unknown, but right now he looks like a better version of Danny Kanell, and therefore a backup.
is the mobility and the way he protects the ball. 2 hands on the ball when the pocket breaks down. Calmly moving away from pressure and looking to throw. Did not look overwhelmed by NFL football.
There's enough there for Shurmur to tailor a gameplan around.
RE: Is Lauletta even getting reps with the second team Â
The guys isnt even active on gameday. I don't think that "just throw him in there" is even a consideration at this point in the season
PS said "he gets the same amount of reps as Tanney' but didn't state how many reps that is.
I agree any time before the bye would be premature and even then it might be a bit early. At the same time I wouldn't want to wait for mathematical elimination to start ramping up his work load.
But I'm guessing that we wont see him at all this year.

Webb hadn’t played in a year. One preseason start means nothing. He had more quality throws vs detroit than Lauletta had all preseason. Silly comments. At least he has an NFL arm.
I did not come away very impressed by Lauletta.
He did some good things but his lack of arm strength limits his upside.
Lauletta has to be perfect with his throws. He has to anticipate to offset the lack of velocity.
His balls have an arc and take a while to get to the receiver.
What happens when the winds are churning?
Lauletta could be a good fit for Shurmer's systems.
Shurmer likes the short passes. Look what Case Keenum did.
I think that a good comparison is Case Keenum.
Looks like another midround QB that’ll be out of the league in 4 years Â
I hated the pick then and hate it now. And don’t give me that “we drafted him to be a backup QB” crap. QBs take 2-3 years to get their feet under them. By the time that happens with a mid-rounder, he’ll be up for free agency. So you either end up paying market orclose to it to keep him (and if he’s decent, he’ll probably garner starter interest and money somewhere) or you lose him and start over. PLUS, you loseout on drafting a starter elsewhere.
Dumbest thing to do is draft a mid-round or better QB hoping he’ll pan out into a solid backup. You draft him to be a potential starter or you don’t draft him. And watching him play, I just don’t see potential starter at all.
What a win it would be if we discovered that the kid could actually compete at the NFL level. Do I expect that...no. But at least you need to find out. I expect him to start in SF. It would be a shame if he does not.
Throws in there. But watch him in the pocket, always climbs the pocket, keeps his eyes down field and let's it rip. He is not the answer but you would not have the field cut in half by Eli and his tentative play. It's a marked difference in pocket presence and after watching that it makes me realize just how shaky #10 is now.
have a number of passes that he throws 50 yards in the air. The problem is they were off target on pretty much every throw. They should have been outside, but he threw inside....right to the defender. I'm not too concerned with arm strength. His arm is ok, not great, but not a noodle incapable of hitting a guy deep downfield
Here are some links of Lauletta that I found informative... Â
all of the "Davis Webb is Eli's successor" people are now on to "Kyle Lauletta is Eli's successor." now that Webb (our 3rd round pick- in Reese we Trust) is a PS player for a team that will never let him play unless Darnold gets hit by a bus.

I see people wanting him to lay because he is the only option on the roster right now. Most of the comments on his ability are lukewarm at best.

There is no such thing as "all of" when it comes to BBI opinions. The people who liked Webb are not necessarily the same as the people who like Lauletta (and vice versa). Case in point: I wasn't a Webb fan, I am a Lauletta fan.

That's what I noticed as well. Our OL is going to look a lot better with a different QB back there.
