#NYGiants rookie DL R.J. McIntosh is eligible to begin practicing today and expectation is that he will participate, per source. He’s been on NFI List and missed all of camp/preseason.
Team would have 3 weeks to decide to activate McIntosh. Good chance for him to get involved.
Awesome, best wishes to the kid

Excited to see him
great news...

....let's hope he flashes and really makes DG's first draft a very good one.
Has he been keeping in shape
bradshaw44 : 10/16/2018 9:15 am : link
with his condition? Would be great to get some fresh legs on the line but can he really contribute at this point? I'm pulling for him for sure, just hope it's realistic to get something out of this year.
A 5th round pick with medical issues? Not likely to help this year.

Maybe if he is in better shape than expected, he could be on roster after the break, but a street free agent probably could contribute more.
Huge to get him going

Otherwise next season will be his rookie year. Rather have him gain some experience this season and be a full go with some confidence heading into 2019
Good

for him, but I'd be surprised if we get anything out of him this year.
I'm intrigued.

He looks like a 2nd round pick on tape - almost a Calais Campbell-type. He slipped to the 5th due to the medical.

This was the guy who basically whopped Quenton Nelson's butt in college. The ONLY one.

Agreed. I'm fine with the pick, even if he doesn't contribute this year. Most day three picks are a waste anyway, and he has some good tape.
We're very deep on the dl. It may make sense to trade someone

for a late round pick.
Happy for him

If he can show promise, the 2018 draft was a "hit on em all" foundation draft for the rebuild.
Last rumor I heard when they sidelined him
Beer Man : 10/16/2018 10:57 am : link
was that his thyroid condition had caused him to drop a lot of weight. If true, I doubt he will be back to full strength this soon.

Probably true, but it's a lost season anyway, so getting him reps now will get him ready for next year. Looking forward to seeing him.
Just getting him

on the practice field is a win. If they can find a spot for him on the 53 (and no reason the think they can't) and he can play in a couple of games at the end of the year so much the better.
Great news.

Wanna see what this kid can do finally.
Apple McIntosh for the sack!
Coach Red Beaulieu : 10/16/2018 11:15 am : link
If he and Lauletta pans out, which I believe he will, this draft was a 2 outs 0-2 walk off grand slam home run down 3.

FA was absolute ass this year though.
Woohoo

If memory serves me right, he hasn’t practiced in full this season. So he’ll start practicing for the first time in week 7? Hope he’s taken some really good mental reps.
regardless of what shape he is in...great news
Rick in Dallas : 10/16/2018 12:26 pm : link
for the young man that he may start practicing again
It's a good sign if they have him practicing after week 6
Milton : 10/16/2018 12:31 pm : link
Because they have the option of waiting several more weeks before beginning the three week period in which he can practice with the team without being added to the 53 man roster. At least that's the way I interpret it, I could be wrong.

Here are the rules for someone placed on PUP, but I think it's the same for NFI...
Quote:
A player moved to Reserve/PUP is prevented from playing and practicing during the first six weeks of the season. What makes the Reserve PUP advantageous is that any player on the Reserve PUP list does not count against the 53-man roster. If a player isn’t activated after the sixth week, the team has a six-week window (day after Week 6 to day after Week 11) to make a decision to: 1.) place the player on injured reserve; 2.) release the player; or 3.) get him back to practice. As soon as the player returns to practice, the team has another three-week window to add the player back to the 53-man roster, or place them on the Injured Reserve list. This means that teams can effectively hold a player on PUP until Week 15. At that point, they either have to place him on injured reserve, activate him to the 53-man roster, or release him.
Really want to see this kid in action

I always turn back to the game against Notre Dame last year...he was a handful for Quenton Nelson. If this is another young, able body NYG can have on that DL, that is a glaring positive heading in to 2019.
