too much of a risk, hasn't shown that hes back yet, and this team has too many holes to be be giving up high draft picks for risky picks. And on top of all that he's going to cost a ton, and he would get blown to pieces behind our OL. I would rather stick with Eli one more year than take a gamble on Luck.
1. The Colts won't make him available, but what they've done in trying to build a team around him is even worse than our failed attempts to give Eli a shot at a third SB run.
2. He looks pretty good. That offense just has close to no talent.
Also, Andrew Luck is absolutely not finished. He's starting to get his mojo back.
The team around him sucks but he's still really fucking good.
He's already tossed 16 TD passes in 6 games.
He's got 8 picks too but they are not all his fault. There were 2 on Sunday alone that were dropped by the RB/WR and deflected up/picked off. The Marlon Mack one was terrible. Easy dumpoff and the guy bobbles it right into the air and the Jets take it back for 6.
It's like starting a thread on what the Giants record would be with Aaron Rodgers. It's fantasy land stuff.
I guess we can hypothesize... but it has no chance of happening and if the Colts were trading him they damn well better be getting much better than just a 2nd round pick.
It would take our 1st rounder and possibly more to get him, and even then they probably don't do a deal. He's as close to untradeable for them as there is in the league.

to chat with fans about fantasy trades. cool with you?

I am not sold on his health and there’s enough smoke out there that his arm/shoulder won’t hold up long term and we are in a multi year rebuild.
He’s doing well given his supporting cast but he does not look at all like his former self. His mechanics look a bit clunky to me and he doesn’t look like he has a good accurate touch right now downfield. Reich is doing a good job of not forcing things with Luck and trying to tailor things around what he can do.
His supporting cast though is terrible. Hilton has been out injured but is no longer a number one WR. They have no run game and have the enigmatic tight end in Ebron. OL is still a work in progress there much like ours.
They are building up that defense again albeit slowly. Darius Leonard is legit.
a bunch of fantasy football bs all day, every day.
I don’t care about FF on here, good for them. May be time for another sabbatical from here. I’m tired of reading a thousand threads on Eli, Mara and losing for a high draft pick. Those topics are fine, but over and over and over again? I’m beginning to miss the Darnold/Barkley threads.
You'd be laughed at and hung up were that the offer to the Colts. It would be more like this, using the same players in your hypothetical:
Eli and Beckham to Colts
Luck and WR like Chester Rogers to Giants
PLUS, Giants send to Colts their 1st round pick in 2019, a 2nd and a 4th in 2020. Giants maybe get a 5th round pick or later this year or next.
But that won't happen, ever, in any universe, the Colts are not going to trade Andrew Luck. They will not. I don't even know why this is even a thread. And I hate myself for even responding to it.

That wouldn't get the trade done. The Colts know what Eli is at this point.
You're starting with at a minimum Beckham, Barkley, and 2 #1s. They'll want even more than that.
I'm going to say the same thing I did last year when we were on our way to 3-13: at every opportunity we should be liquidating the team. Whenever we can turn a player into a draft pick, we should. Whenever we can unload long term salary cap expenses, we should.
The only exception to this is Barkley. I'd keep him and build the team around him.
Everybody else can go. We need draft picks and long term cap space.
I would take a flyer on Derek Carr or Joe Flacco.
2. He looks pretty good. That offense just has close to no talent.
And by all accounts he is one of the best locker room guys in the league.
That said, I cant believe he is on the block and it would take way more than a 2nd if he were.
hence the "i know they wouldnt trade him"

So what's the point of the discussion?

But he's awesome and still one of the best in the game.

^This. Luck is succeeding despite having no talent around him. But his injuries are preclusive. I wouldn't trade for him.

Spot on summary.

The giants cannot afford to assume that risk.
His injury could put the franchise back years.
