NFT: Frank Ntilikina will start tomorrow night...at SF

Anakim : 10/16/2018 1:37 pm
Yes, you read that right.

Frank will start at SF. Knox will come off the bench.
Of course Lance Thomas will start...

The Knicks starting lineup Wednesday night against the Hawks: Kanter, Lance Thomas, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Trey Burke, Frank Ntilikina.
No Knox.
Mudiay is out against Atlanta.
I'm ok with Knox coming off the bench.
Mike from SI : 10/16/2018 1:40 pm : link
It's fine to ease him in.
Kanter, Thomas, Hardaway, Burke, Ntilikina

Catch the Fever! Get you full and partial season tickets now!!
Nothing's ever easy with the Knicks, is it?
bceagle05 : 10/16/2018 1:47 pm : link
Might as well start Frank Drebin next to Burke and Timmy - he'll get just as many opportunities. The Michigan Bros are an unwatchable back court.
They didn't even make it to the first game
arniefez : 10/16/2018 1:53 pm : link
without giving up on the latest plan. Hopefully they win less than 20. It's going to be a looooooooooong time before MSG sees a home playoff game for either Dolan team.
i am fine with lance starting for now
nygiants16 : 10/16/2018 1:53 pm : link
maybe this is best for knox, takes some of the oressure off and he wont be off the ball as much coming off the bench...

he will still get his 30 minutes
its all about maximizing that draft position
Greg from LI : 10/16/2018 1:55 pm : link
And that lineup is a good first step towards the overall #1
No biggie
RomanWH : 10/16/2018 1:56 pm : link
They probably like Frank defending the opposing SF more than THJr. Could also be Fiz trying to get a feel with who can play well with who. Burke and THJr will be the main scorers for the starting unit, Frank and Lance for the defense, and Kanter to clean up the boards.

how exactly have they given up on their current plan?
I'd

keep an eye on the Rockets all season, Morey has been on record admitting they will be looking to add players. Lee seems like an ideal fit.
Curious to see how Knox handles this.

Love to see him come out uber-aggressive tomorrow night.

he should be happy, him and hezonja will be primary ball handlers
Who's the backup PG?
Eli Wilson : 10/16/2018 2:24 pm : link
If Mudiay is out and Frank is at SF, then Ron Baker will be the first PG off the bench?

Who is the 2nd unit?
Baker
Trier
Knox
Hezonja
Robinson

What about Lee?

most likely trier is the back up point
I don't mind that at all.
yatqb : 10/16/2018 2:55 pm : link
"Position-less basketball" is what he's pushing. Knox will get plenty of run over time. The team stinks, so it's all about development, and Nitilkina needs to be developed just as much as Knox.
One thing that my piss people off
nygiants16 : 10/16/2018 3:05 pm : link
I dknt think Fiz views frank as a point, i think he views him as a player that is jack of all trades can play multiple positions including point but not full time and i think we will see that
It's far too early to have any problem
Beezer : 10/16/2018 3:09 pm : link
with any lineup Fiz throws out there.

Excited to see "the process."

I think Lee is banged up a bit, no? I hope they get him enough burn to build a little trade value and dump him off on someone who needs bench help
Knox was very underwhelming in the preseason.
JustaDiscussion : 10/16/2018 3:49 pm : link
Unlike what some fans want, the Knicks won't intentionally tank. This lineup seems to make more sense to try to win games for now. Though, I agree with the poster on the other thread who said that all of the Knick's players have similar talent levels at the moment so it probably doesn't really matter who starts. However, I still think it will be interesting to see the rotations and to see who ends up closing games this season.
Knox was BAD in preseason after being great in SL.
Heisenberg : 10/16/2018 3:51 pm : link
I don't see how anyone can be mad he's not starting. He'll get minutes. I feel pretty good that Fiz isn't gonna bury him on the bench.
not that it makes a huge difference, but per the Post
Del Shofner : 10/16/2018 4:23 pm : link
Frank will be at SG, not SF.

"The alignment will have Trey Burke at point guard, Ntilikina at shooting guard and Tim Hardaway Jr. at small forward."

Looking forward to the game - should be interesting even if the Knicks aren't very good.

So we have a chance of seeing Trey Burke at C? :)

Then He does what he says and hes changing the plan. Knox played like shit so hes coming off the bench. Sounds like a hes a man of his word.

If he realized he was a 3 and D, he'd be ok. It's when he thinks he has some athleticism that things go crazy. Nothing like a Lance drive and floater.
I have hated lance probably more than anyone
nygiants16 : 10/16/2018 7:58 pm : link
but i liked how he has played during preseason, not taking crazy shots and hit his 3 point shot at a high clip and his defense has been fantastic...

the defense with frank and lance in the starting lineup should be good which will allow burked and hardaway to get out and run...

my guess knox first guy off the bench for lance or burke

A good guess, I think. Frank was going to be the 6th man but now it's Knox. Not a bad move. I like how Fiz is handling things so far.
^^^^^
Del Shofner : 10/16/2018 9:16 pm : link
also, I'll be interested to see how long or short the rotation is. Not preseason any more, might just be a 9-man rotation. Knox, Mitch, Vonleh, Trier as the four subs? I don't know if Lee is ready to play yet, or whether Baker is going to get any burn at this point.

hezonja will play, 1 of vonleh and mitch probably will not play
