I'll start by saying that I wouldn't make any change before the bye week and we should be almost out of contention. Whether Eli is the problem or is still good enough in the right situation is irrelevant. We have a 37 yo QB and right now a premium pick that can be used to address that.
Reason 1 would be that we dropped the ball last year. No, not by picking Barkley but by not letting Davis Webb see what he can bring to an NFL field.
Reason 2 is imo Lauletta is a qb who is better suited to play behind a leaky oline. He moves very well in the pocket and has athleticsm to escape the pocket and bail the oline out.
Reason 3 is playing with house money. Much like the Browns did with Baker by having him sit. No pressure when he comes in to play. Just come in and show what you got.
It's the end of an era and probably a career and it's not easy for many to watch. This is what happens in sports but we can't just appease people because of what they have done in the past. It's ti
me to do the groundwork for our next starting qb whoever that may be.
It s his job to try to win every game. Eli gives him best chance at thi point
Every one that gets upset because other fans want to see Lauletta play over Eli need to chill out. We are not crucifying Eli for the fall of this team, just pointing out the fact that he is 37 years old and doesn't appear to be able to play QB in the NFL much longer. In a lost season you might as well see what happens when you bring in another QB. Not like Geno Smith as he is not very good and basically the same as Eli except younger and not as good. But maybe just maybe if we play a QB that has better than average mobility and good accuracy we can see what the problem is. If the same problems occur with Lauletta for a few games in a row then we know what problems to address. I don't subscribe to the camp that says you will ruin a QB in a few games due to pressures, it happens over a long time.
Im not saying start Lauletta right away but if we keep trending how we are they need to get the ball moving. Us fans need to back out of the way and see what happens. My issue with the benching last year was that it was in favor of Geno.
The definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results. That is exactly what the Giants are doing right now.
Eli apologists treat him like he is a delicate little flower, The guy has had a great run and brought us 2 SB’s. His family is set for generations. The idea is to be able to walk away healthy. Eli knows deep down it is over, He will handle stepping aside like the true pro that he has always been.

interesting since PS said Tanney and KL get the same amount of reps
By now they know if he has any shot at being in the nfl. If so, put him in after the bye. At that point, we’re playing for the top draft pick, so who cares?

In an interview with Lauletta earlier in the week, Lauletta stated that his only practice reps up to this point have been with the scout team.
