Most underrated 80s movie ever

chopperhatch : 10/16/2018 10:09 pm
It's gotta be Crocodile Dundee and Crocodile 2. You never hear them mentioned when discussing the best movies of the 80s and they belong on the list.

Flame away...plus, I would bang the snot out of Linda Kozlowski.

Three great movies. I assume "underrated" means things like Wall St and Sophie's Choice are out.

The 1980's had a lot of great movies.
The Quest aka Frog Dreaming

from the 80s. Your list of hits and classics will have been seen by anyone alive back then and none are underrated.

In the original spirit of the thread I nominate this fucking cinematic masterpiece:

How can you forget

Flash Gordon
Evil dead

My votes for underrated:

You can't have a list of 80s movies without either a member of the bratpack or John Cusack.

St. Elmo's Fire
Better Off Dead

Oh and honorable mention to a couple of movies with the Corey's:

Lost Boys
License to Drive
Is that picure above from Repo Man?
trueblueinpw : 10/17/2018 6:45 am : link
Repo Man is a great movie from the 80’s and it’s actually underrated too.

"The Goonies." A wonderful 1985 movie. I'm not sure it could totally be classified as underrated.
Just my opinion
mavric : 10/17/2018 6:55 am : link
Have to agree with Crocodile Dundee.

Would add: Vacation, Christmas Vacation, and Back to the Future
White Water Summer
Chris684 : 10/17/2018 7:15 am : link
With Kevin Bacon and Sean Astin. Great movie.

Weird Science
RoboCop
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
EricJ : 10/17/2018 7:15 am : link
not only because it so accurately detailed what life as a high school teenager was like back then, but to see all of the current day stars who got their break in that movie.

Honorable mention for me..
Easy Money
The Burbs
My Bodyguard
The Evil Dead

Easy Money, Head Office, and Local Hero are ....
Crispino : 10/17/2018 7:31 am : link
three really good ones. And 1980 film Breaker Morant is in my top five movies of all time. Brilliant acting in a true story set during the Boer War. If you haven’t seen it, and most people haven’t, I can’t recommend it enough.
Great movie:

You're fuckin' right I'm Plettschner! Arnold Plettschner!
Three times decorated in two world wars! I was killing
people while you were still swimming around in your father's balls! You little scumbag! I worked five years in a slaughterhouse, and ten years as a prison guard in Attica!

or The Ninth Configuration (I never know which to call it)

Hollywood Knights. Poor man,s Animal House with an impressive cast. So off the radar most people have never seen it. Hilarious.
Hero and the Terror
mfsd : 10/17/2018 8:15 am : link
Essentially, another Chuck Norris/Steve James macho flick, but a good one bc the bad guy was a really scary killer hiding in an old theater, Phantom of the Opera style
Vision Quest is a good one for the 80s
Bobby Humphrey's Earpad : 10/17/2018 8:17 am : link
Even by the mid-90s, many people hadn't seen it.

It's got Modine and Fiorentino before they became stars.

It's got two of the more underrated sports scenes (the Pele/3 min. speech and Shute walking up the bleachers with the log), and a great soundtrack led by Journey and a cameo from Madonna.

Complete 80s movie.

Th actress who was the lead in Just One Of The Guys
