Following the 2014 Season

CMicks3110 : 10/16/2018 10:17 pm
Eli Manning signed a new contract for 4 years 84 million extending him through the 2019 season. Manning just turned 35 when he signed that contract - following the disastrous '13 and '14 seasons, how hard of a decision do you think it was to commit to Eli then? Would other franchises cut bait at that time or are the Giants outliers with regards to loyalty?
The problem was the decisions made after 2013-

Forcing McAdoo on Coughlin led to everyone being on different schedules. In hindsight, I would have kept Gilbride for 2014 and either commutes to everyone after 2014, or cleaned house after 2014.

Basically blamed the scheme, the giants minus Coughlin that is.

Probably not too hard to decide on Manning when he had just had one of his best seasons. He threw for 4400+ yards and had 30 TDs while only throwing 14 INTs. Pretty solid season.
The problem was NOT signing Eli..

it was destroying the offensive line when you have a QB that absolutely needs his OL for protection more than most QBs in the league.

Just two seasons removed from a Superbowl, what do you think the fan base would have done if the Giants did not re-sign him? Shit.. they all had their periods when they sat him for a game in a lost season.

The problem is

The Giants did attempt to rebuild the line. They drafted Pugh mid first , Richburg early 2nd and signed Shwartz and then ultimately Flowers #9. All of which were not very good.

By comparison the Cowboys picked 3 players at around the same spot in different drafts and who did they get?
Tyron Smith #9 pick, Zack Martin mid first and Travis Frederick late first

Well said. It’s hard to believe the Giants spent what they did and got nothing for it. If even one of those players worked out the OL rebuild would be far faster and easier. Instead, we’re rebuilding from scratch.

After watching the series Finding Giants, I came to the conclusion that the Giants scouting department was not focused. Marc Ross was not the answer because he was not the right guy to head that department. His actions and how he went about business was not in the best interest of the Organization.

It's both comically laughable and vomit inducing to realize the Giants green lit a show about how gud there drafting and scouting is ffs. Says lot about this org,

Imagine if the Browns did a show like that?
