Fantasy Football Discussion OCT 17

In my ppr keeper league the 1st place team has been hounding me for weeks to trade him Joe Mixon.

I don't have any desire to trade Mixon, in fact I need him. I 'm in 4th place in this league and am beyond any bye issues. Though my RB's have been hit by injuries.

Here is my team:
QB: Brees, Winston, Mayfield (drop candidate)
RB: Mixon, Peterson, K. Johnson, Foreman (drop candidate), Foreman (drop candidate)
WR: M. Thomas, O. Beckham, K. Golladay, K. Coutee, J. Reynolds
TE: Reed

Here is his team:
QB: Ryan
RB: Gurley, Ekelar, Conner, Crowell, P. barber, Mostert
WR: J. Jones, Woods, Hilton, Cooper Cobb
TE: Kittle, Olsen

I declined Mixon for Woods and Olsen because it weakens my already weak RB's.

Is there a trade you would propose knowing how much he wants Mixon that is fair?

Yes, Baltimore is in Maryland.
For the time being, sure. But there's talk of a trade to Virginia or one of the Carolinas.
Need flex help. All of these players look the same to me.

You have a good team. Unless you are getting Gurley back, don't do anything. He can want Mixon all he wants but you will do nothing but weaken his team. You have very good QBs, you have 3 very good receivers. You could upgrade TE and I would do so, but not at the cost of Mixon. You might be able to get Evan Engram on the cheap, or take a flyer on O.J. Howard if he is available. Do not trade away from your thinnest position, my man.

Just tell him you'll do Mixon for Gurley and when he says "no", just tell him, "oh well, that's my price" and move on.

Alex Collins and James Conner for AJ Green.

Guy is starting TJ Yeldon and Tarik Cohen at RB with not much on his bench (Frank Gore)

A few questions this week....
OBJRoyal : 10/17/2018 3:14 pm : link
Need some opinions at a few positions this week.

First off at QB I have Brees. Shouldn’t be worried about Brees but he is on the road and against a decent Baltimore defense. I think Baltimore really hasn’t faced a QB like Brees yet though. Other options could be Dalton VS the Chiefs or Winston VS the Browns

Second spot of concern is the Bears defense against the Patriots. Mack has an ankle injury that could be an issue. Top options available are the Broncos VS the Cardinals, The Colts VS the Bills and the Texans VS the Jags

Thanks in advance for any advice / opinions

Drake. He's the best player of the three and a favorable matchup vs Detroit, who gives up the 4th most fantasy points to RBs.

Have Tennessee as defense. They have a week 8 bye. Need to stream a defense for like 3 weeks.

Denver - Arizona, KC, Houston
Colts - Buffalo, Oakland, Bye
Buffalo - Colts, NE, Bears
Redskins - Dallas, NYG, Atlanta
Dolphins - Detroit, Houston, Jets
Browns - TB, Pitt, KC
Cowboys - Washington, Bye, tennesee

Those are the opponents. Dallas and Denver are tough to add since they have tough competition or a bye the same week as Tennessee.

Denver this week, then pick up the Redskins, and then the Cowboys. Just try to shuffle through them every week.

If you don't want to do that then Miami.

What do you guys think of this deal?

Cam, Conner and Bell
for
Melvin Gordon and Bortles

I guess it depends on how the Pittsburgh backfield shakes out. If Bell gets traded or never suits up (even if he does report that's a distinct possibility), I think the Cam/Conner side wins pretty handily. But if Conner and Bell end up in a timeshare I'd probably rather have the Gordon side. The guy trading for Cam is sick of Bortles inconsistency and has no other real starting options. The guy trading for Gordon has Luck so feels like he can afford to lose Cam.

Thoughts? I'm not really sure who's winning here so curious how others feel.

It's a standard redraft league if that makes any difference.

I'd be happy to take Melvin Gordon assuming you have another QB better than Bortles on your roster. Gordon has just been so bankable every week and you can rid your hands of the soap opera.

Leaning Luck but can't justify sitting Rivers.

Buffalo's defense has been so good recently I'd have to play Rivers.

Also trying to trade Collins for a TE.

It's a terrible matchup but I'd have to start Mark Ingram given the choices.

As for QB, Stafford by a lot. I can't trust Luck vs the Bills.

1 QB - Brees, Goff
2 RB - David Johnson, Breida, Ingram, Michel, Lindsey, Kerryon Johnson, Ito Smith
2 WR - Green, Hill, Fuller, Godwin
TE - Ertz

My roster is currently full so this trade would free up a spot for me to add a TE on Ertz BYE without having to drop someone and lose him to a waiver claim.

I’m probably going to pull the trigger, thoughts?

Run to the accept button.

Trust your studs. Brees should stay in your lineup.

As for defense, I actually think that Chicago has a chance for some fantasy points this week...get in Brady's pocket a little. But if you can add Denver and play against the Cards on the short week, I think that's the direction I'd go. Don't drop anyone good to make that happen, though.

Dalton had a good game vs Ravens (4TDs), Roethlisberger did not. And speaking of Dalton, he does have a great matchup against KC. Hard not to go with Dalton, but it's also hard to keep Brees on the bench no matter who he's facing. I'm in the same situation with Brees and Rivers this weekend.

Would you do this:

Collins and TY Hilton

AJ Green and Corey Davis

My team is:

QB: Luck, Stafford
RB: Barkley, McCaffrey, Ingram, Conner, Collins, Clement
WR: Evans, Hilton, Landry, Coutee
TE: Reed

I haven't started Hilton in a few weeks obviously.

Very hard to sit Brees, especially coming off the bye week. Brees and SP with two weeks to prepare. I will most likely stick with him

Last year I had a guy offer me Le'Veon Bell for Roethlisberger straight up, but he cancelled the offer before I had a chance to accept it.
My league is now trying to veto it

because I have a great bench. They don’t like that I’m trading away players I’m not starting (which isn’t fully true since I’ve used Lindsey for a few weeks).

I’d be pissed about the trade too but I wouldn’t veto.

What's wrong with trading away players you're not starting? That's the goal as far as I'm concerned. It's not as if you initiated the trade. If that were the case, perhaps you could be accused of taking advantage of an idiot. But if the idiot is the one who makes the offer, then it's just tough luck on the rest of the league.

There's a guy in my 12-team league who is 0-6 and has already checked out, but he still has valuable assets like Mahomes and Bell. I think it's poor sportsmanship to take advantage of someone who has checked out, but I worry someone else in the league will do just that.
Guys need to pick a QB out of:

This is bullshit, my friend!!!! The whole point of fantasy trades is one guy is deep at a position and thin at another, while the trade partner is usually vice versa, so you each benefit. You want to trade players who are on your bench. Personally I believe vetoing trades should only happen when there is blatant collusion, for instance one guy is out of the running and the other guy pays him to make a blatantly one-sided trade (like Keenum for Rodgers for instance). It seems some people have lost touch with what the purpose of the veto originally was meant for!!!!
As an example
Leg of Theismann : 10/17/2018 9:44 pm : link
Back in the day I remember a guy was in last place around mid-season the and ended up trading Brady for Reggie Bush and it turned out his trade partner had agreed to give him a portion of his winnings. Now THAT is what a veto is for. I think Bush had one good game and he had a decent QB on the bench so He tried to play it off like he was doing it on the off chance that Bush would have another big day or that he was “turning a corner” and finally living up to high expectations . I’m pretty sure this was in 2007 because it was so freakin obvious with the year that Brady was having that no one in their right minds would do this.

The veto should be reserved for situations like this, but If your trade partners believe their team is benefiting from the trade then there is no reason for a veto to occur.
