Rebuild...start by trading Eli, Vernon and Odell...

peteschweaty : 10/17/2018 10:37 am
Not sure what you can get back for them, if anything in Eli's case. But if they can fetch some decent picks or o-linemen, I think it's time. The Giants are the worst team in the league with them anyway. Eli's clearly done, Vernon never lived up to his contract and Odell is out of his mind.
You couldn't have

this isnt Madden..

Eli has a no trade clause. He can veto any trade.. and he is a huge cap hit to ANY team trading for him. He is a 20 Plus MILLION dollar cap hit for the team trading for him..

who wants to add 20 million to their cap for a QB who has woefully under performed the last two years in a row...

Odell is a huge cap hit to the Giants.. he is a 19 MILLION dollar cap hit to GIANTS if traded.. that makes him untradedable for a few seasons.. and in all honesty the Giants would be stupid to trade him.. fans want to trade a player who is the best at his position his first years in the NFL.. better than EVERYONE who has ever played the position?? Why.. because you dont like his personality... not his play.. Is he in trouble with the law.. no.. is he on drugs.. no.. has he been suspended for failing a drug test.. no.. he is a diva.... OMG a WR who is a diva??!!!!!

Vernon... he is also a 20 million cap hit to a team... thats a lot of cash.. but his dead cap hit is only 8 million.. so it would be the same whether you cut him.. or trade him..

He might be the ONE piece that might interested a team... but you arent getting a lot for that piece.. you MIGHT get a third round pick..
I will start by assuming you mean

these moves would be made after the season is over..

1. Eli will never waive his no trade clause. He will retire or be released.

2. 50/50. Vernon is the only pass rusher the Giants have, and his dead cap hit would be significant. Lets see how he plays the rest of the season. If they could get a 2nd round pick in a trade, I would pull the trigger.

3. Odell is one of the best players in the league, and it would be impossible to move his contract, given the accelerated cap hit. On top of that, having a receiver of his caliber would be ideal for a young QB.
Idiotic
BillT : 10/17/2018 10:47 am : link
Trading Odell would generate a $35m cap hit and trading Vernon generate a $7m cap hit. That along with $65m dead money.

Please delete.

Of Giants. Com right before that board was blown up
As said pretty much can't

Eli pretty much have to wait to retire or released

OV..whose taking on that contract..trading would next to impossible

Obj..no ones taking that contract, not trading

Giants pretty much made their bed and have to sleep in it as far as any way to get returns
I Thought

You also had to wait until the new league year on Odell? Could be wrong. Maybe its simply a cap reason.

But, yeah, no...none of them are being traded.
Every team is rebuilding every year, no team stands still.
SterlingArcher : 10/17/2018 11:58 am : link
You want to trade those players, who will be your trade partners and what are they willing to give up that will make the Giants better?
teams would be lined up out the door to trade for Odell
ron mexico : 10/17/2018 12:06 pm : link
They basically get a free $20 mil that the Giants would eat for his signing bonus

Not 20M, 17M.....

But I agree, sometimes you have to realize you made some bad deals, and pay for it down the rode, like JPP....

The Maras' have to face facts, that this team is bad, and now they are going to have to go down an intentional losing road, by casting aside players who are overpaid and don't perform......better decisions have to be made on future free agents......better drafting has to happen...outside of Barkley what did DG do? Hernandez? I am not excited until I see him play next year and not making the mistakes he has made this year.....the rest? Have seen nothing from them....we wasted a pick on a QB.....we wasted two picks on guys that are not even playing.....

How many of DG's free agents made an impact thus far?

So is DG the guy to lead us out of the Darkness? Based on this year? No!
Yall need to stop with the tragic Odell shit
