I'm a 35 year fan. I root for them every week. But I'd be a liar if I didn't fear an outcome that has us winning some games in the second half, on an easier schedule, still falling well out of the playoffs, while also pushing back outside the reach for Herbert.
Herbert is going near the top of this draft. I watched him play last week. Size, mobility, arm, smarts (wants to be a doctor after his career). I saw him take a hit that would have killed a few guys, and he got up and get gaming. If he puts up another strong game or two, the hype train is going full steam. Be prepared.
What do we do if we are outside the fray for this guy. Mortgage big time future draft picks for him? That is so tough to do when you have so little depth from poor drafting. Keep Eli? Go free agency (please no Carr)?
I'm conflicted because I do not want to see our team back to 1-15, or 3-13 for that matter. But damn, I would take it I guess if we can land our QB.

If they can't make him effective, by putting an OL in front of him(I think it will take another year or two), why should he be on the roster? He can't function behind this kind of OL.....
