would make a good stop gap QB for the Giants. He can win games and move in the pocket. He would be a good fit with a rookie QB that is being groomed for the future.
and he doesn't turn the ball over. He did take the Bills to the playoffs last year despite not starting one game that the Bills absolutely gave away when rookie Nate Peterman threw 5 picks in the first half.
But he's not the answer for the G-men going forward either.
Every shit QB you can think of will make an awesome stop gap. I hear Brandon Weedon is available and so is Luke McKown. Problem is these half measures become permanent. Enough
next season. Now I believe Kyle should play and see what he does this year so that could change. If we draft a QB next year we should take it slow.Taylors stats last year 263 420 62.6 per 2799 14td 3.3 4int. He also rushed for 427 yards.
done time to move on. If Kyle works out this year great I am all for it. If he doesn't and the Giants draft a rookie next year than Taylor would be a good 1 year player.
But Tyrod Taylor stinks. I’ve watched every start he ever made prior to being picked up by the Browns. Sure he is a great athlete and is careful with the football. But he processes coverage post snap poorly, hangs on to his number one read too long, never throws the ball on time, and doesn’t win games in the clutch. Bottom line, he’s not going to win you many games and he’s not going to be the reason you lost. You are pretty much guaranteed to be on the wrong side of a lot of 17-14 ball games and a lot of 7-9 or 8-8 seasons. With perhaps a 9-7 thrown in there.
That is better than 1-15. It would just be for one season. Than the Rookie we draft next year plays when he is ready. Rookie QBs are getting hurt this year and its not good. Kyle I would let play after the bye week and if he shows than the Giants are all set.
Did you watch the difference in the game when Mayfield went in to replace him? It was like the whole team came alive. Taylor was terrible in Buffalo and just as bad in Cleveland. The guy can scramble and his arm is strong, but he is super inaccurate.
Signing Derek Anderson to either backup a rookie QB or start the season. He was Newton’s backup all 4 seasons when Gettleman was the Pantyer’s GM
You are probably right. Look, I am not ready to give up on Gettleman just yet, but my opinion of his o line evaluation skills at this stage is not good. I think our line was better last year, which is insane. My fear is that his hiring was the good old boys network and that we should have hired someone like Riddick that would bring in some new ideas.
If NYG has a chance to get their franchise QB without mortgaging the farm, they have to do it. But there is a very good chance that option will not be available. If that’s the case, NYG needs to keep building talent and may be stuck half-assing at QB.
This was the consequence of passing on a QB last year. We can only hope for the best.
I’ll say this about Tyrod. He has similar qualities to others being suggested.
He sucks donkey balls.
But he's not the answer for the G-men going forward either.
That said, they had a nice OL there (not so much now). The Giants line is, in comparison, terrible.
If they want a stopgap, Bridgewater might be a better guy to look at if he shakes free from New Orleans.
They may opt to hang onto him with Brees getting up there in age - but if not, we could do worse to transition to a new QB.
No he doesn't.
Go watch him try to throw the ball against the Jets in the first half from Week 2 when he was benched.
He was terrible. His mobility made no difference.
Don’t let his career stats fool you.
