Chytil was invisible tonight and Zibby has got to be much stronger on the boards in the offensive zone. Just looks passive. I get that that may not be his game, but then dont even try and do it. Id rather he defer the roleto another teammate or just cut off a passing lane. Hes terrible retrieving it off the boards with a man on and even worse behind the net. He looks like he panics.

Washington is damn tough in the 3 on 3 format.

I don't catch all the games but have seen a spark here (with the exception of the Buffalo and Carolina games). The team is playing hard and putting out a good effort. Two things stand out .....they need some backup in goal, as Lundquist can't play every game (they need him to keep the games close) and they also need a "sniper" to pick up some of the rebounds and deflections around the opposing goal. Wouldn't it be nice to strike gold and select a "go to" player like Ovechkin with one of their high draft draft choices one of these days? The kind of player other teams fear and the type of leader that you can put on the ice at "crunch" time and who seems to come through in the majority of cases. Last night, once the game went into overtime, the sense of inevitability took over....just a matter of time before Ovechkin or one of his minions scored in a wide open (4 vs. 4) format.

the day after a loss. I love the way this team plays. Until the game winning goal, Pionk was probably the best player on the ice last night. They just took a few too many penalties, and seems they were giving Ovechkin a little too much room to operate on the PP. Aside from that, I was really impressed with how they played last night, on the back end of back to backs especially. Like other posters have said, with the exception of the Carolina and Buffalo games, they have held their own and even won a couple of games against a very tough schedule to start the year.

That's where I guess I remain, but their early play (none watched by me) sounds as if they have more to offer than I thought possible. Would have loved to have learned of a victory here against the Caps, but maybe next time.

Second of back-to-back games, on the road against the Cup champs who hadn't played since a home loss on Saturday? When that game went to OT I was ecstatic.

Yea, youre right, but goals aside, no real consistent play in the other teams zone. Too much carrying of the puck by one player. Poor point play. The two goals are a misleading stat in my opinion Tony.
