Fantasy Football Discussion October 18, 2018

MadPlaid : 10/18/2018 9:39 am
Hi,

Let's discuss who should we start this week? I'll go first.

Would you bench Brady, and start Dalton in his place? Brady is on the road at Chicago, while Dalton is at KC. I'm leaning towards going with Dalton because almost every QB who has played the Chiefs this year have had great fantasy weeks. Too tempting to resist. Am I insane for benching the GOAT? TD's are 6, and interceptions are -3.

In addition who would you start at my Flex position? Non-PPR league:

P. Barber v. Cle
C. Davis @ LAC
M. Mack v. Buf
C. Godwin v. Cle

Presently, I am starting Barber. RB against a suspect run D makes the most sense to me. Barber broke out last week, and I see good things in his future. I hope.

What do you think? Any feedback is welcome and appreciated.

Best of luck to you all, and thank you.

Depends on the other RB's and how much of an upgrade it would be at WR.

I’ve got Green, Hill, Fuller, Godwin at WR. At RB it’s David Johnson, Michel, Ingram, Breida, K Johnson, Ito Smith, Lindsey.

I can flex 2 so Adams would be my weekly permanent Flex or WR during BYES.

Given that team, if you have the opportunity to acquire Adams for the said players do it immediately.

Adams may end up being the #1 WR in fantasy this year. He's on a 16 TD pace and I had him for 14 TDs this year prior to the season. Yes I would do it.

Manning @ ATL

In League 2, I need to pick my QB2 out of:

Dalton @ KC
Winston v. Browns

Dalton clearly has a more favorable matchup, but Winston looked awesome in his first start off suspension and is home (was the #1 QB in fantasy in week 6).

Trubisky and Dalton. That KC/Cinci game should be a fantasy point bonanza.

Absolutely, I'd make that trade. Adams hasn't been a portrait of health, but he's still producing.

My opponent is starting Stafford at QB and I'm starting Tate at WR and Golladay at FLEX. Is it a mistake or an advantage to be starting two receivers that your opponent's QB throws to? My other options at FLEX are Ridley, Lindsay, and Breida.

No. I've been starting Tate and Golladay all year together and it's been really good for me. That said, Breida is a good flex play this week, that's who I'd probably want.
Speaking of Golladay and Tate

If you were to pick two in a standard league out of:

Robert Woods @ Niners
Kenny Golladay @ Miami
Golden Tate @ Miami

How would you play that?

I also have Stafford at QB this week in this league.

With Kupp out... Woods because Goff's number 1. Also go with Golladay. He is their number 1 now.
As for the Dalton vs Brady and Dalton vs Winston
Milton : 10/18/2018 2:47 pm : link
I think both scenarios are coin flips. It's not like Brady is money in the bank. He has his share of clunkers when it comes to fantasy points. And @Chicago fits the profile of a potential clunker. Dalton may not make you feel all warm and fuzzy, but it's gonna be a shoot out in KC.

As for the Winston side of it, he had a great game last week, but it's too early to know what you have in him. Was last week a harbinger or does he come back down to earth now that teams have more film on him with this year's set of tools to work with? Personally, I don't like the guy as a person and it prejudices my opinion of him as a football player, so I'll "recuse" myself from giving advice.

OJ Howard vs Cleveland you mean of course. Cleveland has been a little tougher on tight ends this year but I think you have to play Howard due to his speed and big play potential. Both Burton and Howard have just 15 catches this year, but Howard has turned those catches into 284 yards vs just 199 for Burton.

I'm a Burton guy, too, but I'd go Howard this time.

If you can get your hands on Njoku, the Buccaneers have been extraordinarily bad against the TE position, allowing 486 yards and 3 TDs to TEs in just 5 games. Ertz, Vance McDonald, Burton, and Austin Hooper have all burned them.

Xavian Howard will be on Golladay
YAJ2112 : 10/18/2018 4:15 pm : link
might not be worthy enough to switch him to Tate, but I think Golladay's upside could be limited this week. A TD would still likely make him better than Tate though.

Right, Fitzptrick will be on Tate I believe.

Detroit is interesting to defend because they have three quality WR's.

I am debating Kerryon Johnson or Golladay as my flex.

I was hoping McTyer mostly covered Golladay. Howard is better, but if it's Howard I think it will be single coverage. Safety help going to cover Jones IMO.

So my trade yesterday of
UConn4523 : 10/18/2018 4:31 pm : link
Lindsey, Ito Smith and Fuller for Hopkins and Lynch was vetoed so I ended up making that above deal, Ingram and Ito Smith for Adams. I feel good about it, still have 5 RBs that I’m comfortable starting and get a huge upgrade at WR.

I wouldn't be in that league another year. Why would they veto that? You should see some of the trade in my league.

We have some dumb owners.
I’m the guy in my group of friends
UConn4523 : 10/18/2018 4:37 pm : link
that no matter what happens, if I’m involved they will collectively argue the opposite. I’m convinced if it was 2 other people making that trade it would be “ehh, that’s lopsided but whatever”.

I won’t leave the league, it’s all my good friends, but they can get very petty if a good team wins a trade. Generally it doesn’t result in vetos (probably because I rarely trade) but this time they all went apeshit.

Still a steal, maybe every bit the steal that the original trade was. The love affair with Ingram is based upon one game back that I don't believe was indicative of what the Ingram-Kamara timeshare will be going forward. And you went from Deshaun Watson's #1 target to Aaron Rodgers's #1 target and you get to keep Lindsay. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Lindsay is putting up more points than Ingram come December. One is sharing snaps with Kamara, the other with Royce Freeman (and occasionally Booker).
Yeah I’m fine with both
UConn4523 : 10/18/2018 4:53 pm : link
Ingram probably gets 15 touches per game if I had to guess. The kicker is he becomes an elite RB if Kamara ever goes down but you can’t back on that of course.

I love that I’m keeping Lindsay, fun player to watch and he’s the guy on the field more when they play from behind and also gets goal line work. If they finally stop giving carries to Booker he’d be a weekly Flex option, possibly an RB2.
Anyone starting Kerryon Johnson?
UConn4523 : 10/18/2018 4:54 pm : link
if Reddick is out I think I’m playing him.

Even though I like Engram as a fantasy TE and a good matchup with a defense starting 2 second string safeties and 2nd string MLB, I still think he should be benched out of that group for the following reasons:

He's at best the #3 passing game target in that offense.
The Giants passing game and offense in general is very inefficient and they struggle to sustain drives and score points most of the time. I do think this week could be a good one for the offense, but...

Kittle has been very consistent all year as a target for Beathard and Jimmy G. He's the #5 fantasy TE thus far. On the flip side, even though the Rams have allowed some decent yardage to TEs (401 yards through 6 games), they have yet to allow a TD, and I like that defensive front's ability to severely disrupt Beathard and that Niner offense this weekend.

Then there is Njoku. The Tampa defense has been an absolute sieve to all pass-catchers, including tight ends, and combine that with the fact that Njoku has led the Browns with 22 targets in the last two weeks...I think this is going to be a big game for Njoku this week. Definitely high end fantasy TE #1.

Thanks Milton. Outside of those two, the rest of the QBs to face the Ravens are garbage. I kinda like Brees and SP coming off the bye with extra time to prepare.
