Two years ago the Chiefs ripped off ten straight wins after starting off 1-5 becoming only the second team to make the playoffs after such a horrendous start.
Things look very bleak - Eli looks slower and more jittery , Odell is causing controversy the team generally seems to find ways to lose and lacks confidence
Rationally I know the playoffs are not happening in 2018 and I’ve come to accept that
But maybe just maybe this team will catch some breaks. A big pick 6 that catalyzes the defense - some injuries to key players of opponents combined with health of key Giants - the offensive line finding cohesion, Engram’s return opening up the offense. A somewhat easier schedule the rest of the way
Things looked down and out in 1994 1997 and 2013 but the Giants managed to turn around slow starts and put together a string of victories. And this team has just as much if not more talent than those versions
I know I’m setting myself up for disappointment but I can’t truly believe the season is over before I’ve had a chance to put away my summer clothes
Anyone else still feel a pulse for this team this year?
For us to contend the offense needs to kick it in about 20 gears. The problem is we havent seen them do it consistently for years.
If OL pass blocked better, Eli would probably be a little more confident. But right now, neither are playing nearly well enough. The defense then gives up and quits for whatever reason. Then the special teams usually add a gaffe or 2.
If they had won vs. Philly - I would have been optimistic. But the way they got destroyed should end any doubt how this season will end.
Or the Red Redding POV:
We suck.
The Giants were competitive in all but one game so far so it’s not like they are consistently getting blown out
I’m not saying that a 10 game streak will happen, this team has holes on both sides of the ball, but it’s a game of momentum and confidence and sometimes luck
I’m going to take the Andy Dufresne outlook until they are eliminated
That was Coughlin though. I don't know if Shurmur has it in him to rally this group that way. We'll see.
I don't see it, but it's not impossible.
Our punter is ok, Rosas is decent. We need to find a returner on kick offs.
I am not sure they can put together a solid game in all 3 phases. That is my concern for optimism. It all starts this Monday. If they win this game on the road then who knows.
HAHAHAHAHA
The scary part is you are serious..
They will help. But one of the reasons why we are in the shitter is because we stuck out every year in rounds 3-7. We need to start hitting on some of those picks.

We've had some bad misses in rds 1-2 too: Apple, Flowers, Richburg, Pugh, Wilson, Randle, Prince, Austin. And one of the few hits (Hankins) we didn't sign to a 2nd contract.

Unfortunately the Giants were not competitive in 2 of their 5 losses (Dal & Phila), 2 of the teams in their division that they would have to beat out for a playoff spot. The Oline gives them little chance to be competitive against good defensive fronts, and they play plenty more of those coming up (Chicago, Wash (2), @ Phila, Dal, Tampa).
I can't see them finishing with any more than 4-5 wins.
The light at the end of the tunnel is 2019...high draft pick(s), free up cap space, continue to add young, hungry players.....maybe just maybe drafting a young franchise QB to go with OBJ, Engram, Barkley..AND FINALLY improving the Oline to competitive status.
so the hope is they keep losing.
It's a virtual certainty that they will lose their next game to fall to 1-6. At best, they will go into their bye week at 2-6 though they will be home 'dogs against the Redskins in Week 8. Any objective look at their schedule suggests they will be lucky to win 5 games.
This is a bad team, and a poorly run franchise.

Because the qb stinks. He’s worse than some teams backups

About as scary as the fact that you are too.
DRAFT OL MEN!!! FA is NOT the way to collect them as nobody lets quality OL walk and you can look at the Vikings and Rams and yeah they plugged their holes that way but thats the exception not the rule. We need OL. Bringing a rookie in with a crappy OL is a ticket to happy feet.
If this crap continues lets see what Lauletta has for 4 or 5 games down the stretch...likely nothing behind this OL...and go from there.
I'd use the first 3-4 rounds to pick centers, guards and tackles.

Those 3? As what benchwarmers or clipboard holders? Taylor is awful, the best thing he does is scramble terrible thrower, McCown has been marginal at best and we’ve all seen Fitz crash and burn after a little success, no thank you!,
If you put your hope into seeing signs of improvement and that the arrow is pointing up with an eye on the future, then yes —there is hope.
There's hope, we have Barkley. Hernandez looks like a keeper. OBJ is a diva, but a great talent. We have some of the pieces to build a future.
Let's hope they can just keep getting better each week. After the season, we free up cap space and hope we draft well.
