If You Want to Feel any Better, Watch the Cardinals...

arcarsenal : 10/18/2018 8:30 pm
I know it won't actually make anyone feel better.

But their first play from scrimmage was a carry for no gain. Then they burned a time out one play in, and on the next play, Rosen's pass was tipped, intercepted and returned for a TD.

Then they were offside on the XP.

I know some people here wanted Steve Wilks, I know a lot of people wanted Josh Rosen. (I thought he was the best QB in this class, so that includes me... )

This team is basically dead last in offense. They can't run, they can't pass.

They're an even worse version of the Giants.

We suck.

I still think if we have a semi good QB in 2019, we could be really good with some hits this offseason on OL & defense.

I'm sure this will devolve into another QB vs. Barkley debate - but I really think no matter who we took, we were going to be bad this year. If we had taken a QB and were still 1-5, no one would be happy anyway.

It is what it is.

The Cards are just really, really bad. Giving that type of money to Sam Bradford was flat out moronic. The guy is a lock to get hurt every year. Throwing money at Pugh was stupid, too. He's another one who is always hurt. Sure enough...

Kirk looks like he can play. I think the end is near for Fitz.

DJ isn't the same right now. Their line sucks, but he should be more productive than this.

They have talent issues, but I think their coaches are doing a poor job as well.

Haha. I honestly don’t understand posts like this. So they’ve got a rookie at QB and that’s simply enough for you? Future drafts and free agency don’t matter?

Just weird.

So, if "hope" is all you need, can't we just draft a QB next Spring?

What good is hope when they still suck?

If we drafted Josh Rosen and looked like this while Saquon Barkley was doing what he's doing for someone else, people would just flip their argument and say Gettleman blew it anyway.

We did draft a QB. Just not as high as people wanted.

It's almost like the thought process is college football won't make any more quarterbacks, or the Giants won't draft in the top 5 again.

28 points already and the 2nd quarter just started.

At least Arizona has hope!

Rosen has looked like trash. We got Barkley, who has HOF written all over him if he stays healthy. We just got to hit on our QB selection next May.

The Front office for not listening to me and others that Rosen is the best Qb in the draft and we must get him. Smh. They are correct about missing on a high draft qb will set the franchise back years.
Weird. Two months ago most were in "win now" mode with Barkley
Reese's Pieces : 10/18/2018 9:16 pm : link
and Eli, who was said to have three or four more years in him.

Now most want to "lose now" to get another top five shot at a quarterback. We can have our top quarterback prospect and our running back too.

And it all sort of makes sense.

Are you drunk or really depressed? The Cardinals are an abysmal franchise right now, their GM is a drinky drinky and they hired a shitty HC. Rosen looks ok but he's OK, that's it, we have the most talented RB in the entire league and a GM that loves to build from the inside out, which is the opposite of what the last idiot did. Give it time, we will be light years better than the Cards soon.

The way I look at it (and I wanted to start a thread on this theory but knew it would be dismissed and I would wind up calling somebody's mother a whore), the Giants were not IN LOVE with any QB last year, no chance of us really moving on from Eli this year and DG really seeing the special in Barkley, I believe that he took him knowing that there would be a prospect or two this year that would match last year's group. So far only Mayfield and Darnold have been the least bit impressive. I refuse to believe the BBI horde that questions DG's ability as an FO administrator and instead think he has a plan to replace Eli. This blind faith in Eli crap is nonsense.

I think he took a true game changer in Saquon. I also think his logic was, if Eli is truly not done and played spectacularly w/o a finished O line as in 2011, we would compete. If he didnt, we would be in position to take a QB high this year.

Yea, I wont judge him playing a very tough D with a total trainwreck OL. But the talk by Rosen fans was that he was this magical QB who could transcend a bad line and make SOME plays. So far all Ive seen is that he throws a pretty good ball. Hes not very instinctive from what Ive seen.

But Rosen was never in the conversation. The only QB NYG had any interest in was Darnold and this was well reported.

Rosen went @10 and was 4th QB taken. But hey who needs facts. That’s like trying to make a point by referencing Lamar Jackson. What the hell does that have to do with anything, lol.

Yeah, I mean that's more or less where I am at.

I think Eli is done and I think we need a QB. I just don't understand this idea people seem to have that it's like last year was our one and only chance and we missed.

QB is a position you need true conviction on. Elway just keeps whiffing trying to find Peyton's successor. You'd think he knows the position, but it doesn't make him a good evaluator and the picks and signings are really just not panning out for them.

I think Darnold can be really good. I think Mayfield has all of the tools to be an above average QB - but Cleveland was set on Mayfield and we weren't going to get him even if we wanted him.

There's not one way and one way only to fix the Giants and it was never going to happen in one swoop.

We got a tremendous player in this draft. I think saying "it's not translating to wins" is the wrong way to look at it because there's a good chance this team is still 1-5 with Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, or Josh Allen. We might actually be 0-6 with Allen or Rosen.

I think I'd be more angry if Sam Darnold looked like a truly elite player. I see solid right now with the potential to be really good. I don't think Sam Darnold is ever going to be an upper-echelon QB. But that's a different argument, I guess. Of course, it's still early.

But just drafting a QB doesn't mean a team has a plan. And Arizona looks to be a LONG ways away from being competitive again.

Arizona is bad

He's what he was advertised to be. Excellent at the technical aspects of playing QB and advanced for his age. He's also playing on a shit team versus a very good defensive unit.

I don't think Rosen is a bust. It's too early to tell.

The overall point is that he's in a really bad situation there - just like any QB would be here with the offensive line we have. A rookie QB would also mean no Saquon Barkley.

So, they'd be handing the ball off to Wayne Gallman and...

Beckham doesn't look all the way back yet. Latimer is done. Engram has been hurt.

I think if we had taken any of the QB's on the board @ 2, they'd be struggling about as much as Rosen is right now.

He is playing for a bad team with a rookie HC. Their offensive line is not good either. He is only 21. Jared Goff looked horrible during his rookie season and now look at him. People were calling Trubisky a bust last year but he has taken a big step forward this season. I still think Rosen will be a very good QB but the Giants made the right pick.

on rebuilding the offense. Johnson's great, but that line has sucked for years. They have also failed with replacing Fitz. Brown had a couple games years ago where he looked like he'd be a star, but then played poorly even when healthy. Floyd also flashed briefly and I don't remember the last time they had a TE worth a damn. Better hope Kirk pans out at least. I think Rosen was the best qb this draft, but that team stinks and they are a long way from being good again.
