The reason for Odell's often IV's: "I don't like water."

But it's necessary & this is LOL. You don't like water. Fine. But drink it. I don't like a lot of things, but I do them because I have to.

All this time I was getting annoyed when posters would rationalize his behavior by pointing out that he was "just a kid". I had no idea they meant it literally. My apologies. Fortunately the $65M guaranteed can buy plenty of sippy cups that can regulate his water intake and avoid that squishy feeling.

On a serious note, I drink water all the time, but I am always dehydrated.

but still not as bad as when Matt Harvey (rip) passed a blood clot and a had a bladder infection because he held in his urine all the time.

I hear you. I've always had a similar challenge. What many people don't realize is that your body has an optimal balance of water and salt, and each one pretty much counter-acts the other. The salt you sweat out (along with water) is actually what leads to cramping. This is why sport drinks are actually important for very active people, and why IVs are so common in professional sports. Every person is different though, and finding the right balance can be very hard. I drink water all day, but still manage to get dehydrated easily. It's even worse for lean, quick twitch athletes. Their bodies are so finely tuned that they have a very hard time retaining sufficient fluids for hydration.

Should Odell drink more water, probably, but he certainly isn't the first or last highly tuned athlete to not drink enough because they didn't like the taste. I've competed with and against some pretty phenomenal athletes that would compete hard for 3+ hours and would hardly consume a drop of water. Gatorade, power aid, sure, but hardly any water.

Of course this will just become another Odell is a diva WR and the Giants can win with him because he doesn't drink enough water media fabrication. While in reality, it has nothing to do with anything. If anything, Odell is just guilty of over-sharing.

So what exactly is Hanlon calling absurd? Odell's statement about water, or the fact that this is somehow a headline and depicts internal dysfunction. Does any other coach in the NFL have to answer for the hydration habits of their players?

I’ve tried to accept Odell, but he just outdoes himself every time he opens his mouth, if he doesn’t realize by now the ny media is going to take everything he says and exploit it, and sensationalize it, he’s just a fool or possibly just enjoys being in the spotlight. I had my doubts when the giants signed his contract, he has fulfilled my minimal respect for him. I’ve just had it with him, and don’t think he will ever gain back any respect I would have for him. He’s just a plain fool who has had more than enough chances in my opinion.

that did electrolyte enhancement without liquids - it was supposed to be for military and sports applications. I remember thinking it was weird at the time, seeing as Gatorade was everywhere, but he said that in the case of athletics there were some athletes that did not want to run with the bloated feeling of having taken on 8-20 oz of water.

Not sure if the product still exists or if there's any point to it, but I know they sold out pretty early to another company and he made a fuckton of money.

This thread is the answer. Look at how many fans are interested in this non-sesnical and unimportant crap. As long as fans keep discussing whatever pablum is slopped into their bowls, there will be more pablum supplied.

I care about what OBJ does on the field. If he needs an IV every five minutes I couldn’t care less, as long as he is on the field. If he wants to go home and coves himself in jello and post pictures on Instagram, I couldn’t care less. I’m not sure why most fans do. He is an entertainer. You are either entertained or you are not. The guy isn’t performing heart surgery on your child.

It's the fact that Eli Manning is not able to throw the ball to him often enough.
