It was radically different at the time and super cool. By today's standards, it's little different than a stretched-and-suped up Gremlin (which happened to make a cool modified stock car back in the day).

Studebaker and Packard tried to stay afloat together and they produced some interesting cars. My dad had a '58 Silver Hawk which built on the groundbreaking early 50's Studebaker styling of industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss (who also designed the Princess telephone). There was also a Packard Hawk, only differed in trim.
