Sam Darnold Mic'd Up - Dave Gettleman Fuk'd Up

Canton : 10/20/2018 7:05 am
Love our Saquon and was never enamored with the QB's that came after him in the draft. Nor have I ever subscribed to the Saquon vs QB'S debate.

But after watching this kid be a leader of men, in this mic'd up video against the Colt's, color me impressed..

Did Gettleman fuck up if this kid starts taking them to the playoffs (more than once)?

a question that can be answered anytime soon. Barkley has played really well, and if the Giants draft high and get a good QB Gettleman made the right move. If Barkley fizzles out after 6 years or something and Darnold has an Eli length career iwith success, Gettleman will look foolish.

I know this seems to get brought up a lot, but it can’t be answered anytime soon. Everyone knew that Barkley would come in and be very good from the start but the question will be what happens long term.

Right now, Barkley is very fun to watch. Without him, the Giants would be completely boring, but we would have the feeling that we had a QB waiting in the wings to take over.

Barkley was a mistake because Darnold was mic'd up?

There are some strange qb evaluation techniques available here on this forum for anyone to adopt.

In another thread Darnold didn't pass a posters franchise qb evaluation because of Darnold having a "durr" face.

In fact maybe I'll steal these techniques, pass them off as my own and right a worst selling book. 💡

And that Darnold has a very good career, and maybe wins a single Superbowl, just so we can have threads like this for the next 30 years. Long after both are retired, posters on BBI can write fan fiction about what would have happened if the Giants had drafted Darnold. It will be the question that never gets old, no matter how many times it is asked.

Maybe Eric should pin a Barkley v Darnold post at the top of the forum and we can just leave it there for 30 years?

Is how many posters annoyed and disgusted by these threads continue to click on them.

For me, looks like Barkley is as advertised and Darnold is what I thought he d be after watching him in college.
Right
djm : 10/20/2018 10:36 am : link
Because we’ve never seen a young qb play pretty well and lead pretty well and have a pretty good career. It’s obvious that based on these 5 weeks of data that darnold is going to be one of the best QBs of his generation. Am I right? No way darnold is merely a pretty good or even a good player but one doesn’t transform a franchise. No way. Nope. He’s either going to be the worst qb ever or the best qb ever. BBI tells me so every day.
You guys know very well

If Darnold was our QB, and had a that kind of game against one of our opponents, y'all would be creaming yourpants that we hit the mother load at QB heh.

Yeah he did
ZogZerg : 10/20/2018 11:05 am : link
DOn't know how you couldn't love Darnold after talking to him pre-draft. This kid is going to be really good.

I love his game mentality. He is like 21 - right?

Jets fans have something to look forward to.
Giants fans get to watch Barkley tear it up while we lose games. Sucks.
Eli has played like crap. That makes the Barkley decision look much
Jim in Hoboken : 10/20/2018 11:08 am : link
worse. The debate shouldn’t even start until we know who our QB of the furure is though. I’d even suck for another year for Tua, but Barkley doesn’t mean shit if our QB position is bleak for the next 5 years.
It's not just the game he had ..
Canton : 10/20/2018 11:15 am : link
But the leadership, poise, and killer instinct he displayed at the end of the game. I absolutely Loved what he said to the huddle...." Let's put a dagger in their hearts."

If Darnold does not take the Jets to the Super Bowl and WIN and Barkley has a HOF career, I'll be OK. It's about CHIPS at the end of the day.

When Darnold is mic’d up in the SB. Like Eli.
I believe Barkley is currently the best RB in the NFL
AcesUp : 10/20/2018 12:25 pm : link
I also believe he won't be seen as the best or even 2nd best thing we could have done with the 2nd pick in the draft we look back on the draft with the benefit of hindsight. On the other side of the coin, he will be far from the worst thing we could have done with the pick. Debating it is dumb in my opinion because this will be an inevitable outcome.

I'm over it though. We should enjoy Barkley for the special player he is and move on. There are other QB prospects coming out, guys that are playing today, and we will be picking somewhere between 1-10 in the draft. Focus on those guys and not Darnold.

Actually, the quote (not mine) was “I do not like his arm, his durr face or his ability to lead.”

But it’s much easier to cherry pick the one throw-away word and build an entire false narrative over it. This is why conversations in this place are normally pointless.

Durr face disqualifies any other reasonable observation. How can I take anyone serious who uses that as part of player evaluation? Seems to me you whiffed.

Except, you didn’t write a post “disqualifying” his observation. You took two words of his post and created a whole different narrative for yourself. It’s the “BBI Special”.

Anyone with half a brain can see it was a dumb, pointless addition to his point of view. But that’s the low hanging fruit that some people are only able to attack. Don’t think I’m the one that whiffed. But I’ll try to throw some soft balls out there for you.

He disqualified his own analysis with a critique that has zero to do with playing qb. That comment was an easy clue that the poster knows 0 about what a Qb's job is.
Durr face is important, especially at QB
Coach Red Beaulieu : 10/20/2018 5:05 pm : link
Deneanor, appearance, communincation, intelligence, charisma are all important. Amukamara dropped because he had duur face, staffs did not like his demeanor. Of course Reese saw his measurable and decided to throw him into a Tampa 2 defense.

Geno Smith has duur faced, got punched by his own teammate. Ryan Leaf had duur face.

I'm sure the Jets are happy with Darnold. I believe the Giants are happy with Barkley. I know I am. Let it go already. For all we know, we have our future QB on the 53 now. I like Lauletta and obviously so does Shurmur and Gettleman.

fanofthejets : 10/21/2018 12:54 am : link
He's displaying some wonderful leadership characteristics at such a young age. What's really most important though is his preparation and dedication to the game. He's a self starter. He leads himself first. He has a high football IQ and is always focused on improving. Sanchez tried to be a leader too, but he didn't quite have the feel and understanding for the game that Darnold has. Fitzpatrick was also a good leader but lacks the physical tools to make him a long term success

Darnold will yet take his lumps. Plenty of 'em, but it's great to see him display so many great qualities early in his career.
