Herbert faces another tough test. Wazzu has beaten Oregon the last three times they've met (Herbert missed last year's game with a broken collarbone). Also, Wazzu has won 10 straight at home, so we'll see if Herbert can help break that streak.
S Jalen Thompson is the leader of Wazzu's secondary and will likely be a Day 2 pick in April if he declares.
Actually there Defense is pretty good. Especially there pass defense.
They're 9th in pass yards allowed. 10th in 3rd & 4th down conversion percentage. 7th in total defense. There 21st in sacks and passing efficiency. They only allow 23 points per game.

Against two decent offenses they gave up 39 and 36 points. Their out of conference games were against teams who throw as well as the Giants.
also keep an eye on Trevor Lawrence. That's who we'll be drafting in '21.
Im not sure if this years defense is better or worse, but they did a good job against Darnold last year so Im not sure we can just dismiss them and everything Herbert may or may not accomplish tonight because you dont think their defense is any good. WAZZU is a tough place to play
I hope he comes out next year. That helps us. Did you mean in 2 years?

If he doesn't he is getting bad advice.
He will be #1 overall and Oregon is not winning a National championship if he stay in.
I know his brother is a incoming freshman but is that enough to risk millions of dollars?
He doesn't win games by himself....pass
Do what?

Jesus, not to be a nerd, but who cares about if either of you are right about the WSU D, you both need to refresh on the usages of "there, their and they're."
😈
WSU is pretty good test just like UVA is a good one for Jones.

He's being a dick Anak.
Just a suggestion, this thread would be better to have a thread on all 4/5 of the QBs (Jones, Herbert, Finley, Lock) so we can have all the comments together. Plus I have a feeling Raiders take Herbert at 1 anyways.
Jones with a beautiful deep ball and 12 yard pass dropped. He definitely has a terrific deep ball with more arc than Herbert's.
So because they didnt take the guy you wanted in the draft we cant discuss QBs any further? It certainly hasnt stopped you from posting on every single Darnold/Barkley thread since the draft. I guess you prefer to look backward while some of us prefer to look forward. To each their own I guess.
Youd swear that the world stopped turning after they passed on the almighty Sam Darnold...
Its really freaking aggravating.
Actually what is odd

Is how many posters annoyed and disgusted by these threads continue to click on them.
Yet, here the same damn poster is, clicking on a thread that he clearly doesnt want to discuss...oh the irony
Not if Kyle Lauletta has something to say about it!
Should read 3rd down conversion not drop.
Daniel Jones on now. Down 14-0 to UVA. He is plagied by drops, but just threw a deep ball into double coverage which led to a pick. Had a very nice run for the 1st on 3rd and 11.
Finley with 16 NC State v. 3 Clemson at 3:30 might be the game of the day.
Lock w/ Mizzou v. Memphis at 4
Of course Herbert plays tonight.
WSU is pretty good test just like UVA is a good one for Jones.
The funny part was I re-read my like 5 times and was like... I have to be right here! Yet still wasnt sure... haha
You...uhhh, need to work on your pedigree? Like your pedigree, man. It stinks!

Yea, duh. Pedigree doesnt mean what it normally means when FranchiseQB posts it...you didnt get the memo?
What schmendrick.
Johnson had an awful game today. Very disappointing.
Making the call now. If Gettleman reads these young QBs similar to me at the moment, get ready to take a pass rusher or OL early and ride with Lauletta or a vet (like Bridgewater) in 2019.

The Giants have had a brutal schedule & aside from Dallas & Philly, every other game was decided relatively late. Looking at their remaining schedule, I see some wins. Herbert feels like a Raider to me.
The Giants are gonna go 8-8 plus or minus a win or two. So they won't be in a position to pick him and aren't likely to be in range for trading up. But if Arizona has the first pick and falls in love with Herbert, they may want to move Rosen to the highest bidder. Which could be the Giants! And like a new car that loses 20% of its value when it leaves the lot, he may not cost as much in trade as some think. It all depends on how he finishes out the year.
The 8-8 prediction might be more outrageous than Arizona trading Rosen after one season. Which 7 games are we winning??
For fucks sake man. Get a grip. The guy has had all of ONE draft and he didnt take who you wanted so now its possible he will never ever ever draft a QB in the first round. Some of you are simply embarrassing yourselves at this point.
Oh, and it sure looks like the guy he drafted isnt far off from being a big ole steamroller machine, so theres that. Whaaaaaa! But hes not a QB damn it! I want my QB!!!!
Guess he never watched Tom Brady. Derp.

Gettleman will never draft a qb in the 1st round. He might see this as a 3-4 year job and he wants to win during that time. He wouldn't come out and say it but he could always just babble his nonsense about the QBs being pretzels and whoever he drafts being a big ole steamroller machine.

Jerry in DC is another one of those "only post when the Giants suck so I can take shots at them" people who vanishes when the team has success.
Another reason to hope the Giants turn it around.
I dont know if youre serious, but this isnt impossible.

Still plenty of time in this game but he was a bit underwhelming last week and a non factor thus far tonight.
Joey, in fairness, I wasnt necessarily buying into Herbert before this game. But I will say, I am completely open to having my mind changed. In fact I hope it is.
But Herbert would be far cheaper.
And now Oregon is down by 10...
He comes back to win this one after being down 27 and that will be a big statement.
Joey, I hear you and agree. We arent even in November yet and some have made up their minds. My questions about Herbert have nothing to do with ability. I am concerned when I hear him described as an introvert. The Giants need a leader. Hopefully his full personality comes out in an interview. I also want to see what he does when he needs to put his team in his back. Thankfully this 2nd half is nothing like the first half.
Have to say the young man is impressing the heck out of me right now. Im seeing what I was hoping to see. Hes responding to adversity, hes leading, hes cool and decisive under pressure. Everything else is burning down around him and he is ballin at the moment. If this is the QB he is, then hes worth the #1 pick.
Quote:
He's running throwing making plays any way he can. Isn't that what you want in a franchise QB?
Clearly the second half is a mirage.
No Larry he had a bad half of football, he can't be good.

It's season long and play to play, you watch the guy and you see the traits and you know this. I see people claiming he's #1 overall then this week a bunch of pass because he's not winning against a very good defense. It's just unreal. It's a year long process of play and ups and downs, combine, workouts, interviews and everything else that matters. It's not one throw or one run or one half that makes or breaks anyone and if it was Eli would have won zero games in this league. It's about a body of work and the knee jerk idiocy I see here just fries my circuits. This isn't emotional, watching your team IS, this is fair evaluation and I see none of it here. I know you know your stuff, but go back and read the dopeyness, it's rampant.

Darnold is an introvert too. Darnold's boring, man, and you know what? That's fine. I don't need a Baker Mayfield or a Cam Newton.

Boring is ok with me, I love boring. Its one of the reasons why I love Eli. I just dont want timid. It really all depends what they mean by introvert.
Tell you what, hes certainly not playing timid at the moment.
Great body position by #9
So...if introvert = Iceman under pressure, then Im good with it.

He's a unique dude. He wants to be a doctor after his football career is over. He has a 4.0 GPA as a biology major. He volunteered in Uganda to help build a basketball court.

What a laser by Herbert
Dude people didn't like his first half how can you argue with that based on improved play? You so crazy.
Sorry there are no more QBs to draft and no more halves of football left to evaluate

All good things! Well grounded
Minshew looks like a porn star from the 70s. From now on, I am calling him Boogie Nights
Give it a rest. This thread has nothing to do with the 2018 draft but since you decided to make it about that, I suggest you go check out Darnolds game against the same team last year.
I do like how he moves when chased or when the pocket is folding. I think his scrambling ability is very overrated. He may have good speed for a QB, but he seems to take half measures when he is pushed to run.
I liked what Jones showed quite a bitmore. More decisive, throws with more touch and when he decides to run, he knows how to move the chains. I think he is built more solid and I think he makes quicker decisions.
The other may be way too risky to take in the first round.
This is just way beyond stupid, even given your history of clueless talent evaluation.
And you can tell who drops into these threads to continue selling their narrative and opinions with a mind shut as tightly as possible to any new or contrary information.
I used to enjoy your posts, but this follow me or all is lost mantra is tired and uninteresting.

I'm not trying to get anyone to follow me. I'm just trying to understand the BS narratives that are generated by the people that think the Giants can do no wrong despite the avalanche of evidence to the contrary.

Its a well known fact that there are posters on this site that would rather be right, than wrong. They will never admit it, but its absolutely the case. GoTerps is the leader of that pack. His arrogance knows no bounds. There is no doubt that he is hoping Herbert sucks. Hes busting on others, but hes not exactly watching with an unbiased mind either. For the opposite reason as hes accusing others.
The best part is, hes often admitted to not watching much college football. Yet hes continuously the expert on the matter. Ive never come across anyone thats thought so highly of themselves in my life. Its incredibly comical, really. The bottom line for him is, if the Giants land a QB in the next draft and he turns out to be the goods, Terps knows hes spent an insane amount of hours on here bitching moaning and complaining, telling everyone how screwed the Giants are for the rest of eternity, and it would be all an incredible waste of time. Hes invested at this point. His monsterously inflated ego depends on Herbert sucking and the Giants being stuck in QB hell forever
There are posters on BBI that can't accept the possibility that the Giants don't know what the hell they're doing. Any move the Giants make will be supported by these posters.
I've said it before: the Giants could draft an inanimate carbon rod and there would be posters here saying it was the right move.
Bortles just got benched in Jacksonville. If ever there were a time to call them about Eli, it's now.
