They follow up a Thursday night game with a Monday night game and then follow up a bye week with a Monday night game. So they wind up with three games on their schedule with less than normal preparation time when any one of them could've been avoided if the Monday night games were followed by the bye or the Thursday night game had been preceded by a bye. And because their first MNF game is preceded by the TNF game and the second MNF game is preceded by the bye week, they get an extra day of preparation when they already had extra preparation time to begin with (were they Sunday games instead of MNF).
I understand it's impossible to create an ideal schedule for all 32 teams given certain constraints, but it's just stupid that both MNF games follow non-Sunday games (TNF and the bye). And the fact that all of those games come within a five week span makes it all the more lopsided in terms of the team's ability to create a routine practice schedule. They go from a very short week to a very long week to a short week to a very, very long "week" to another short week.
It's an unfair five week stretch that I've never seen another team face in all my years following the game. Granted it's not like I study every team's schedule every year, but this feels unprecedented.
So as usual, the NFL has its head firmly inserted deep inside its ass and can't see the forest for the trees.
I have hated the Giants playing on Monday night for 20 years. Thursday night? Who freaking needs that?
I wish they would go back to Sunday at 1 and 4 PM. Period. No bye week.
There is no question that the long and short weeks affect the outcomes. Of course as previously stated it is about the money. Creating an event for all of the different outlets. It just waters it down.
Greed ! There is far too much of it in all aspects of life .
The game is getting watered down not to mention the
mind numbing amount of commercials .
The Monday night games are garbage as well .
The scheduling is also biased to me as well .
