NFT: Celtics at Knicks Game 3

1-1 on the young season. Let's see how we handle one of the better teams in the East. No Hayward for them, I hear.

Seriously. Its not just about him not being skilled enough to be a starter. He is bumbling his every opportunity.

Baker AND Thomas out there now. Thomas half assed that loose ball there

and baker ahead of trier
I don’t understand why people say Lance Thomas doesn’t
Jim in Hoboken : 10/20/2018 9:15 pm : link
take bad shots. Every time he has the ball he tries to create, badly. And he shoots whenever he has any daylight. His defense isn’t anything special, he shouldn’t be getting minutes at all.
Were the Morris brothers abused as children?
Eli Wilson : 10/20/2018 9:15 pm : link
They both seem like incredible aholes.
Don’t get me wrong
GMEN46 : 10/20/2018 9:17 pm : link
I love the hustle type players, but lance Thomas is the exception. He literally has no useful nba skills. I just don’t get it. The fact that he has made it this long has me concerned that they will actually pick up his option.

On a separate note where is courtney lee? Is he hurt?
That was a push off
chopperhatch : 10/20/2018 9:20 pm : link
On Morris no?
Stick to the plan.

This season is going to suck. Priority number one is develop the young guys. I just hope we get a lottery pick that can legitimately change this franchise around. As much as I like KP I do question if ye has that potential. He is a great talent but I feel he is a better number 2 or 3 player on a team than THE guy. (Also keeping my finger crossed KD is a legit possibility but not getting my hopes up either.)

That call on Kanter
Mike from SI : 10/20/2018 9:56 pm : link

Second game in a row the refs changed the game in the final minutes
PhiPsi125 : 10/20/2018 9:57 pm : link

is there anything more annoyying
nygiants16 : 10/20/2018 9:58 pm : link
than the scrubs at the end of the bench talking shit
lol that 6th foul on Kanter
Stu11 : 10/20/2018 10:01 pm : link
I'm 50 i've been watching this shit for 40 years. That was as clean of steal as there can be. Lets see them once foul out Kyrie or Tatum on that horse shit

And he stripped Marcus Smart, who's not exactly Michael Jordan. How does a scrub like that earn such a friendly whistle?
Another disappointing loss

because he bitched to the ref on the previous posession
Geez the Celts got every damn bounce the last 2 minutes
Stu11 : 10/20/2018 10:07 pm : link
Though Burke has to nail those free throws, that was a big break.
You have to learn to compete before
Peter from NH (formerly CT) : 10/20/2018 10:10 pm : link
you can win... this team is in another place in terms of competing compared to the last couple of years.

They got some bad calls and Kyre killed them a couple of times down the court near the end. But they played a hard-nosed game. With the breaks going the other way they win.

They aren't ready but, some of the young guys are pretty impressive. This is for the first time in years a high energy, tough defensive team. They have a way to go but the arrow is pointing up. Way up.

guys have come up short in these past two mini-heartbreakers. Hope Knox is okay. X-rays were negative.

What does talent have to do with bad ref calls in the closing minutes in consecutive games?

There were bad calls, but that wasn't the reason we lost. Come on. There are times that that does happen, but tonight wasn't one of those nights.
it will be interesting
nygiants16 : 10/20/2018 10:21 pm : link
if the young guys will play like this all season even with the losing..

vonleh should start at the 4 until knox comes back, getting down 10 every game doesnt help

Agreed. No reason for Lance Thomas to start. Let Vonleh start at the 4.
Questionable calls always happen for every team.
JustaDiscussion : 10/20/2018 10:27 pm : link
It's nice to see this team play as hard as they are, but it's not the refs it's the talent gap.

All of the Knicks offensive threats are streaky and inconsistent. I was hoping that they had enough shooters on the team so that at least 2 would get hot per game, but that hasn't been the case in the two losses.

Kanter still looks lost against pick and rolls. Robinson was playing out of position and still looks hurt. Knox went down. They have too many specialists and not enough two way players.

Even so they played, arguably, the best team in the east to the last second. Based on expectations being that they would lose most of their games, I'm not sad about this outcome.
If we hit our free throws
Giantology : 10/20/2018 10:28 pm : link
We most likely win the game. We were close, competed hard. Things are moving in the right direction.

How so? It would've been a tied game. How do you know we would've won in OT?

Oh, sorry. I guess you meant in general (like the Vonleh and Trier misses). Yeah, very true. Can't leave points on the board like that.
and it is absolutely a talent gap
nygiants16 : 10/20/2018 10:33 pm : link
no one expected that game to be close, knicks are supposed to be losing every game..

only saw a few minutes of the game
PaulBlakeTSU : 10/20/2018 10:36 pm : link
how was Frank -22 in 19 minutes? No other Knick had a +/- of more than 8
it is to bad kp is out
nygiants16 : 10/20/2018 10:57 pm : link
i think if free agents saw him playing with this team and how hard they play, i think it would make the knicks way more appealing
I only caught bits and
mattyblue : 10/20/2018 11:10 pm : link
pieces of this game. How did Trier look? I am not as knowledgeable as most of you guys on the Knicks but everything I have seen from him has been really good so far.

he considered knicks a free agent destination before committing to celtics because of kp, being from jersey and playing for fizdale

he has no fear when the ball is in his hands and not afraid to shoot, 1 of the few guys on the team that can create for himself..

sometimes he is tobe out of control ut with the scorer like that yiu take good with bad...

becoming a good spot up shooter will help when durant comes 😂
Whew!

A little young for the Dad Bod.
After losing a close one to Brooklyn, I thought the Celts were going
Ira : 10/21/2018 6:55 am : link
to wipe the Knicks out and in the beginning of the game that looked like what was going to happen. But the team competed with the best and that's a great sign for a rebuilding team without it's best player. Coach Fiz has a good feel for what his players bring which makes him good at making the right adjustments mid game.

THJR
Vanzetti : 10/21/2018 1:55 pm : link
We all know his weaknesses but 28 PPG is 28 ppg, 11th in the league in scoring.

I think it is safe to say that this was a good signing. THJR will never be a complete player but Knicks gambled his improvement in his last year with the Hawks would continue and it did.

Kyrie Irving's vow to re-sign with the Celtics next summer was a tremendous blow for Knicks fans.

They hoped the All-Star point guard would bolt from Boston to New York. With the choice to opt out of his deal in 2019, Irving admitted that he considered heading to the Big Apple following Saturday night's 103-101 win, but says he ultimately decided that the Celtics' talented roster was so promising that he couldn't envision himself leaving Boston.

“If you were in my position, I think it would be an easy decision for you as well," Irving told reporters, including Chris Forsberg of NBC Sports Boston. "Thinking about who we have and the future and what we’re set up for … Being from Jersey, had history there, but Boston, there’s nothing like it."
