Is Tom to blame for the toxic team environment he created, or do the apologists give him a pass for this as well?

Jags just briefly opened up the doors to the locker room before shutting them. Calais Campbell was holding back Yannick Ngakoue, who threw off Campbell. Lots of yelling coming from the room.

We were just told we could go into the Jaguars locker room. Then as the doors opened and we waited, we could see and hear clearing a very heated agreement going on with players in the locker room. We were told to come back out and wait.
He certainly had a hand in our demise and why we are a complete joke right now. Whether people want to admit that or not.
Three, right?
The way some of you spoiled, petulant, ungrateful, lame ass "fans" talk about him is pathetic.

Oh you're not? Why not title the thread "Marrones Jags..."?
Instead, you insinuate that the VP of Football Operations might be responsible.
You know exactly what you were doing and now you're back peddling.
Don't be a liar. It's a terrible look.

The fish rots from the head down, so yes it’s Coughlin’s Jags.
They also had a hand in our decline since, albeit to varying extents (Eli more of late - not so much 2012-2016).
Several posters were acting like Coughlin earned some sort of lifetime appointment as HC here. He didn’t. Frankly, we let him go 1-2 years too late. He was a bad coach his last year here (shockingly bad in-game coaching). He was a big part of our championship runs (as were Reese and Eli) and deserves credit for that. But he was also a part of our decline (as were Reese and now Eli).
Those people are clowns too. But Coughlin deserves a hell of a lot more respect than he's given by some spoiled brat assholes.
And the OP knew EXACTLY what would happen in this thread by creating the post.

And don't use some lame saying to support something that you can't possibly prove.

The source of our derision in most cases isn't Coughlin himself. It's his slavishly devoted BBI cultists who haven't stopped crying about his firing yet, and who insisted that Jacksonville's season last year was 100% due to Coughlin's incredible winnerness.
Those people are clowns too. But Coughlin deserves a hell of a lot more respect than he's given by some spoiled brat assholes.

Why yes I did. I called out the people Greg was referring too. In about 3 hours time it has become the most viewed thread of the day. It’s a hot button topic here.
For the record, I love Coughlin, but I am not going to sit here and give him full credit for the Jax turn around nor full credit for its current implosion. Like everything, it’s some where in between.
Thanks Coach for your hand in 3 Super Bowls.

And the last time Eli was good was when Clawfin was HC. With a horrible oline and no weapons outside of obj. We had Donnell doing his best impersonation of Mary Lou Retton ffs.

Situation. How can any Giants fan act like the Jags haven't been a vastly superior franchise the last 2 seasons? Whatever. Sure it's Coughlin's fault. Does that make you feel better? Meanwhile we are stuck watching Eli kill his 3rd coach in 4 years.
They went to an AFC Championship game and now will likely miss the playoffs. This is a situation you'd like?
We made the playoffs in 2016. How'd that appease the masses?
Three, right?

Everybody's picks and chooses who they think deserves respect. Some of you shit on players who contributed to championship wins. Coach worship is lame.
It's one thing to point out the foolishness of over crediting Coughlin's involvement with the Jags last year. That doesn't explain or excuse the need to match the foolishness going the other way and taking a steamy dump on his legacy here.
It's come to people insinuating that Reese wasn't drafting all those years, it was "St. Tommy" with his hand shoved up Jerry's ass. And why are those people complaining? The firing happened in the order they wanted: offensive coordinator, head coach, and lastly the GM. The results have been stellar.
They also had a hand in our decline since, albeit to varying extents (Eli more of late - not so much 2012-2016).

^^ nailed it.
Everyone got their panties in a twist when Coughlin was relieved ahead of Reese. In hindsight, they should have all been shown the door at the same time, but make no mistake - the guys who helped bring the championships weren't getting the job done anymore, and had to go.
It's possible to be grateful for what they did, while at the same time thinking it was the right time to move on. Same with Eli now - thinking it's time to move on doesn't in some way diminish his legacy here. All good things come to an end, unfortunately.

I've never worshiped any player or coach. But I'll give respect where it's due.
There are dozens of armchair and keyboard toughguy Douchebags on BBI who know nothing and spit Bullshit all over the site. The OP is one of them apparently.

What the fuck are you talking about?
If we give Tom all the credit for last years turn around of the Jags, like many have on here, he is responsible for the acquisition of the group of people that are in that locker room.
So if he gets all the credit, then shouldn't he be responsible for when his team falls apart at the seems?
Nice try back peddling. The intent of your OP was NOT about him getting credit in the past. You called out TC apologists and asked if they could ignore this incident too.
I dont even know where you get that from. I read all of the posts and I cannot even remember any substantial number of people here even talking much about Coughlin's job in Jax. There are a few thousand people posting in this forum. Maybe 2 or 3 people have a love affair with Coughlin?
Here, about every other post in this thread is praising Coughlin for the Jacksonville turnaround.

This sums it up perfectly, TD.
There are certain people around here who have always had an overinflated regard for Tom Coughlin because he did things the "right way". Nonsense like strict controls on sock height and "if you're not five minutes early, you're late" gives them a warm and fuzzy feeling inside despite the evidence that these things were most likely counterproductive. The legacy of the Tom Coughlin Giants isn't really precise, disciplined play, but rather a lot of sloppy and disorganized football.

I disagree. Coughlin changed the culture of the Giants for the better. Think about the decade and a half of sloppy and disorganized football that preceded him.
They started either 5-2 or 6-2 every single season he was here until 2012. They were prepared for the season every year. Yeah, the second halves were inconsistent, but that happens. They were very rarely completely unprepared to play a game. Yeah, there were some odd blowouts sprinkled in, but they were almost always prepared.
"They were almost always prepared, except for those times they weren't."
Yeah, but that's a double edged sword, and to an extent, seems to be both TC's and Eli's undoing.
When you start 0-6 and finish 7-3, half of the opinions center around 'wow, what a comeback' and the other half around 'hey, how the hell do you lose 6 straight with a team that finishes up the season with 7 wins?'.
Same as Eli, with some stinker performances mixed in with some gems. Inconsistency isn't looked upon positively.
Opponents' QBs in those seven wins?
Josh Freeman
Matt Barkley
Terrelle Pryor
Scott Tolzien
Post-injury Bob Griffin
Matt Stafford
Kirk Cousins (in his third career start)
So forgive me for being less than overwhelmed.

Is a conference championship not significantly better than worst team in the conference? Laugh it up tubs.

We started to get blown out of games a ton in the last quarter of his tenure. It wasn't just sprinkled in here or there.
Sorry for the grammar mistake!
His position was not a life time position. All great coaches have shelf life (besides Little Bill who is an outlier). I think its one of the reasons Parcell's moved all the time. Like in Batman, if you stay around long enough, you eventually become the villain.

down times for the GMEN. We are fighting over and AFC teams locker room fight. JFC.
We have a group of people that fucking hate each other. We both love the Giants and should have much more in common than not but...I don't know about anyone else but you publicly call me stupid and we are done. I think many people are stranded in that raft with me. We troll each other and wait patiently for someone we hate, to say something we can insult them over. It's everybody. Don't say it is one sided, it isn't. We are just a bunch of asshole fans with nothing better to do but rage at one another because our team fucking stinks and they are no miracle pills to fix it. All we are left with, is fighting over whose fault it is, like it fucking matters...The Giants suck and this our BBI life right now. It is what it is.
This is probably the most accurate description I've ever read on BBI.
