The positivity threads didnt work too well for me last night, so I am gonna change the tune a little bit.... here is what I hope happens tonight...
1. Eli plays well. I know this may come as a shock to many, but I root for Eli to play well each week. However, I do believe this is his last year. We will have a new starting QB next year. I just hope as long as he is starting he plays his last couple games well and we remember the good games that he has played in his career.
2. I am hoping for 30 carries, with Gallman getting 10. I think we need to buck the trend of it being a throwing league, and get under center and run the ball. Control the clock. Limit the long distances. Hell, lets try to run it on 3rd and 5 or less. Barkley will be active in the passing game as well, so I think Gallman should be given more of a role.
3. To coincide with number 2, I want to see consistent runs. I dont want to see 1 or less yards than a 40 yarder. That doesnt help the offense. Move the chains and long possessions.
4. To coincide with 2 & 3 - I want our TOP to be 35:00.
5. To help with the previous one, I want to see the middle of our defense do something in the passing game. No more pockets for QBs to stand there and step into. Vernon will get pressure but it would help if the big guys in the middle get a push.
6. No STs gaffes. No penalties, no dropping of a kick, no long returns from the other team. No missed FGs. No punts under 40 yards.
7. Getting to the LOS faster and changing the rhythm. We dont need to snap it at 20 seconds, but lets get to the line and maybe if we see something quickly, then we snap.
8. I want Eli to draw at least one offside penalty with a varying snap count.
9. No 3rd down conversion of 8 or more yards. Our offense needs 3 plays to get 8 yards, the other team are converting way too easy on 3rd and longs.
10. I am hoping for a win, but not expecting one. So I'll leave it that lets make this a 4th quarter game and not a shitshow where we turn it off after halftime.

Very well said. Basically, you want mistake-free football, which doesn't sound like too much to ask for, but making these mistakes is what makes bad teams. This is a bad team. It's hard to believe, but if the season keeps going like it is, and Eli remains the QB, he will likely finish his Giants career with a losing record, unless he somehow winds up the starter going into next year. He was a no doubt surefire HoFer after 2011, but man the last 7 years have been horrible on so many levels.
Our OL continues to be controlled by four or five DL, and Eli is therefore throwing against six or seven defenders. That and Eli's lack of ability to extend plays is why I expect more check downs, and drives that need 10 or more plays just to get into FG range. Barkley breaks a few runs because of his awesome ability, but is often hit in the backfield. Eli is sacked and hit a lot. Maybe the OL changes will help, but I won't be convinced until it happens. The Saints had a terrible defense, and we couldn't move the ball against them. Why will it be any different against the Falcons?
The defense is stout at the start, but wears down, and gets little or no pressure on Ryan. Look for big passing plays from the Falcons over the middle of the field.
At some point this year we will probably have a dominant game, but I don't think it will be tonight.
So now, I have no hope for basically the rest of the season. I hope to be wrong but that is where I think we are now.
My hope is that I have a reason to not go to bed at halftime.
+1
There is my positive thought for the season.

+2 I hate watching this team knowing that if they fall behind by more than one score the game is basically over.
Big plays haven't injected much life into this team so far
See Saquon
ATL has been destroyed by opposing RBs all year.
But in order to make that happen, they'll have to establish the run.
I expect the Giants to call at least 40 passes, losing the TOP and the contest.
I put the Over/Under on Odell drinking water shots on the TV at 2.5.

That's the easiest over pick I've ever seen. I would have put it closer to 7.
There was a reason he was available to us. He was one of the worst Center's in the league last year. Hoping for the best.
I just smell an upset here.
