NFT: Knicks vs. Bucks (Knox expected out 2-4 weeks)

DanMetroMan : 10/22/2018 9:45 am
Bucks are a very good team, potential top 3 seed This should be another L. I wonder if Fiz puts Frank on GF?

-Things are too smooth at MSG, Clarence Gaines Jr. has taken to ripping the team on twitter.

Let's see how competitive they make it. If they are hang around til the end again, that will be huge for this young team.

I know this isn't the point of the thread
Strahan91 : 10/22/2018 9:54 am : link
but I was thinking based on Dan's comment about the Bucks being a top 3 seed who I think the top 3 will be. It really sucks that it's 3 of the other 4 teams in our division... At least it seems unlikely that Kawhi makes it past this year in Toronto but who knows with him.
One comment about the rest of the league
dep026 : 10/22/2018 9:55 am : link
The NBA royally fucked up this Lakers situation. Ingram needed 10 games. Rondo needed at least 8 and CP at least 5. What a disgusting act by all.

And one other thing. I fucking LOATHE CP3. Could never win a big series if it mattered. Hurt again last year. The tough guy acts wears thin. That Rockets team is probably one of the most despisable teams ever. Maybe worse than the Bad Boys from Detroit.

to be honest im glad. Kyrie doesn't look completely cooked. But the injuries have taken a seriously tole on him and I would be very concerned about giving him a super max deal into his 30's.

Durant/Kawhi/Klay/Middleton I would give the bank to (not that there is a great likelihood any of them come but we can dream

Drafted KP

-Hired Derek Fisher as head coach and Kurt Rambis
-Promoted Kurt Rambis to head coach
-Hired Jeff Hornacek as head coach
-Tried to instill the archaic Triangle Offense without the proper personnel
-Joakim Noah- 4 years, 72 million
-Melo- 120+ million dollar extension (later publically bashing him leaving little trade value)

That's reaching. You don't need to honor a contract with a subpar player once the person responsible is no longer in that position. Mills is shit on a stick too. His first two moves once Phil was gone was to give Baker a contract no other team would have given him, and then overpay for Hardaway.

if the Knicks decided to honor a contract that no one else would have given Ron Baker (2 years, 9 million.. with a no trade clause essentially). If they decided to not revisit that verbal agreement they had because they are scared of Ron Bakers agent, then they are even more stupid than I thought.

It is not just about this agent's other clients. The pool of agents is not that large. If you screw with one, all will know about it. Good luck trying to get a deal done if they don't trust a verbal

This is New York. I doubt this is it how it would go down.

KDs Agent: "Hey KD, Knicks want to sign you, give you top dollar. The Mecca, the Garden, all of that. But I would advise caution because they went back on their verbal agreement with Ron fkin Baker"

KD: "Who?"

KDs Agent: "Ron Baker, shot maker, cant trader."

KD: "They did Ronnie Bakes like that? Yeah I'm signing elsewhere"

Just my opinion.
Pure speculation on my part about Baker.

I am excited to see what type of progress he makes under Fizdale. He made big improvements with Atlanta under coach Bud, but regressed a bit last year under the clown show that was Hornacek. I think Fizdale will have a very positive impact on his development as a player. Not expecting him to keep up the 28ppg that he is currently at, but if he can settle in around 22ppg and continue to keep up his efficiency (currently has a PER of 21.9) then he might not be as difficult to move if needed for extra cap space.

looking to trash Hardaway but he's been the exact same player as he was last year... he's just shooting more. Last year 42% from the field, this year 41. Last year he averaged 15 FGA per game, thus far he's averaging 23. He may well develop further with Fizdale but there is no real evidence of this by the numbers. Rebounding identical, assists identical.

Would you really give the coach credit for "development" when a player is shooting a higher % from 3 (over 3 games)? Seems like a stretch to me. He may well do well with Fizdale but as I said he's been roughly the same player, just shooting more.

DanMetroMan : 10/22/2018 12:32 pm : link
In retaliation for a summer rant by WFAN host Maggie Gray, Dolans MSG has ordered all of its businesses across the country to shut down working with Entercom and banned Knicks and Rangers players, as well as MSG broadcasters and personnel, from appearing on the station, according to officials involved in the decision.

In Grays summer rant, she called Dolan a vile piece of trash, among other things. The Dolan takedown was brought on because Dolan, with his band, JD and the Straight Shots, released a song called, I Shouldve Known, about producer Harvey Weinstein, his longtime friend, who has been accused of raping and sexually harassing dozens of women. Gray thought it was hypocritical in light of the Garden having been found liable in the Anucha Browne Sanders sexual harassment suit in 2007.

Last week, Gray apologized on-air for the rants personal nature, but not for its content. It was too little, too late for the Garden.

Entercom aired a hate-filled rant directed towards MSG, its employees and its Executive Chairman in August of this year, Kim Kerns, an MSG spokesperson, told The Post. They chose to take no action to remedy this until the start of this season. Only after learning they would not receive special access to players and coaches did they elect to offer an insincere half-hearted apology. We wish them no ill will. However, we decline to carry on a business relationship. We will continue to afford Entercom league-mandated access only.

If the increased volume of FTs holds up for 20+ games, I'd give Fizdale some credit for getting him to be more aggressive.

Fizdale made a comment about how he keeps reminding hardaway of the things they talked about during the summer...my guess driving to the hoop was one of those things

My only point is yesterday someone said he continued his momentum from his time in Atl (which wasn't true) and this year he's really just shown he's shooting more. Yeah, if 20+ games in he's getting to the line more you can begin to credit Fizdale (I have major trouble crediting the HC with a player shooting a better % from 3 unless you start seeing him avoiding shots he didn't take previously).

It's easy to believe that Jackson story.

I wouldn't be surprised if it got worse once they realized what Porzingis was,or what they think he'll be.

Kinda like a "We'll take it from here Phil, thanks"

Boo hoo. People didnt love precious triangle w enough. Yeah it works best when you have some of the best players EVER playing if. Otherwise. Not so much w the shitty talent the Knicks. Jackson was a failure. Hes not the only one. But he was an arrogant ass. And Buss can go fuck herself. Pathetic twitter posts that no one believes. Good try but Phil was a mess here. Period. God forbid abhone question him. Most over rated coach ever
Classic Dolan.

Bans all knicks and rangers players from talkign to wfan. The more things change, the more they stay the same. He's the Dan Snyder of bball.
You can't wish harm on people. That would just be bad karma.

But ... Dolan ... there ARE a lot of buses in the city.

kind of do not blame him when slmeone calls him a vile piece of shit and says she doesnt care if she ever goes back to the garden, true or not...

mo matter what you think of him, do you blame him?
16, absolutely yes.
Keith : 10/22/2018 3:38 pm : link
This has always been the biggest issue with Dolan. He tries to control the media. He has his employees within earshot of every interview to prevent the players from saying something that he doesn't approve of or a topic that he doesn't want them discussing. It's ridiculous to do what he's doing because he got criticized. You do not fight the media, you learn how to use them to your advantage, but big baby dolan can't do that because they hurt his wittle feelings.
Was just listening to Francesa...
bceagle05 : 10/22/2018 3:41 pm : link
He said Dolan's PR folks should've moved on after the apology, but they decided to rub WFAN's noses in it, and it was a mistake. Held the PR folks accountable, not necessarily Dolan, as usual. He threw Maggie under the bus with some passive-aggressive digs. First time I've listened to Mike for more than five seconds since he's been back - can't stand the guy.

Giants do the exact same thing, pat hanlon is always right there, earlier this year he almost pulled shurmur from an interview

i am not defending dolan, i am not saying he is not a piece of shit, but if i hear someone calling me that on the radio, yeah i am going to pull the plug on them as well..

is it petty? probably, but why do business with someone who allows them to get that personal...
I can't root for either side here. FAN is horrible

if the Knicks decided to honor a contract that no one else would have given Ron Baker (2 years, 9 million.. with a no trade clause essentially).

Suppose Ron Baker is represented by CAA, which covers many multiple sports agents. If you were doing business with someone and a negotiated deal went sour, why would you direct other business that way? If a player was undecided and asked for your opinion, you wouldn't nudge them away from a franchise that jerked you around in a previous negotiation?
Ten Ton for President.

That's all.
If Phil Jackson had some sort of agreement
LawrenceTaylor56 : 10/22/2018 7:23 pm : link
with Ron Baker, and Phil got fired before it came to fruition. I dont see why the Knicks would still have to honor it. Again, this is speculation anyway. Mills gave out the horrible contract.
Bucks look fucking good
Giantology : 10/22/2018 8:17 pm : link
Gonna be hard to keep up with them all night if they keep shooting like this
Vonleh having a nice game so far
LawrenceTaylor56 : 10/22/2018 8:44 pm : link
Block on one end. Dunk on the other. Knicks keeping it close. Down 1
Dotson lucks much leaner and quicker to me.

Noticed it right away in preseason.
LOL
Jay on the Island : 10/22/2018 8:49 pm : link

Knicks a lot more fun to watch than the Giants right now
mfsd : 10/22/2018 9:59 pm : link
thats for sure. May be short on talent, but at least its a bunch of young kids playing hard.

They're playing great but rebounding is sure a f'in issue. Need another big man whether it's mrob or kp when he returns. Also they're missing Knox in this regard, I think.
I turned the Giants off to watch the rest of this game
Giantology : 10/22/2018 10:07 pm : link
At least the Knicks are making things fun again.
Tied at 110 with 3:26
latichever : 10/22/2018 10:08 pm : link
They have to learn how to win these type games.

But very watchable.

And I like the Fizdale cool specs look.
110-110, with the ball, 3 minutes left

Yup and another year here of seasoning. Reinforcements are coming but this year will be rough. They do play very hard though. I think its safe to say that Fizdale is getting every ounce out of these kids.
This article is proving on point

Fiz getting them ready to come out of halftime strong. Theyve won Q3 in almost every game I think
