is doubling down on this season, just means they are going all in on Dak, barring some unforeseen moves. Can see why with the NFC East being wide open.
If Oakland is in purge mode I would seriously look into grabbing Carr. Yes he has a large contract but he can play in this league at an ultra high level.

Agreed it appears they most likely won't be a team to worry about drafting a QB round one.

His contract isn't that large when you peel it back, especially considering all the dead money would be absorbed by the Raiders. He'd be a relatively low gamble.
I don’t think Carr is awful, but he’s certainly not worth that horrible contract. Would like a guy like him on a rookie deal but not that 2nd contract.
To say Carr is intriguing, isn't really "love"... Â
You can make the argument about asset allocation or trying to transition to a QB on a rookie deal, but to flatly say "Carr stinks" seems illogical.
In 2016, Carr was terrific. He got hurt and has yet to truly bounce back to that level, but that does include this season which was broken for the Raiders basically before they broke training camp by trading away one of the best players in the league.
Not sure why this wouldn't be one of many options considered in trying to get Eli's successor in here.
but still agree this is an overpay. What's best is it sets up Prescott for a good enough season to warrant him getting serious QB money. All things considered, a good move for us.
at WR. So there was an added premium to pay here. You have to factor that into the assessment because that sort of skews the market.
Not sure what's happened to Cooper, but the talent is there. He has 31 catches this year and 21 have come in two games. A change of scenery might do the trick.
And my guess is Gruden views WRs like Belichick - lots of receiving talent out there, so don't over-draft or over-pay the position.
RE: Oh and to everyone saying the Giants are rebuilding.. Â
Didn't say names. The name I thought of was Foles.
As much as I'd love to see it for everyone involved, I don't think the Jags would be interested in Eli and I can't imagine his contract would make it easy.
that team was overrated, awful last year, and looking at cap hell. They're now loaded with assets and could be a bigtime up and coming young team when they move to Vegas.
Next move could be Carr to Jacksonville for a 1st and a 3rd.

I can totally see Foles. Because the Eagles have a long history of fleecing other franchises for their crappy backup QBs.
Cooper is not worth a first round pick at all, especially one in the 10-20 range where Dallas will be picking.
A below 500 team trading away a 1st round pick for a good, but not great, WR...

Vernon's too young for Gruden!
Gross. I’d rather just play Lauretta, Carr stinks.

I'm not getting all the Carr love either

I agree with this.
He would be insane to do that. He is going to go #1 this year.
Next year he will be up against probably Tua, and he's going to go #1 no matter what.
Not saying the Giants should do it, but also not saying they shouldn't.
But I'd go no higher than a second.
I'd have to think a deal such as that would occur offseason though.

Losing a second round pick plus the benefit of a QB on a rookie deal would be asinine.

Yup. Whether you agree with what Gruden is doing or not, this is what rebuilding looks like.
The Giants are not rebuilding, they're reloading. Reloading for another 3 win season.
Bingo. If Cooper turns it around in Dallas, that has to be a massive flashing warning light over Derek Carr.
Sam Bradford? Bridgewater?

Yes. That is definitely rebuilding. People can like or dislike what the giants are doing, but it is not rebuilding

That wasn't really "news". It was one of those "according to sources it's likely that..." guesses.
No one really knows at this point, but it would be very hard for any QB prospect to pass on this year's draft if they were going to be a top 3 pick.
