from that rush no matter what he did, but holy crap it's frightening how Eli doesn't even attempt to move around to avoid a rush. At least a few times a game Eli just ducks and goes down without even attempting to get away, you see some other QB's maybe do that a few times a year and he does it a few times every single week.
He's the definition of a statue back there. I've never seen anything like it week after week.

Agreed. It's both. Bad OL play plus Eli's immobility equals no offense, despite all our weapons.
Solder got beat badly, Hernandez beaten badly. This Falcon Defense is not supposed to be good and yet were here to save their season?! Wtf! Does this Oline even practice?

If Hernandez reach blocks and doesn't allow inside pressure by shepherding him outside, Eli can step up in the pocket.
No idea what you expect him to do there.
I find it hard to believe New England really wanted Solder back
It is a damn shame that it is a complete failure by any one of them on every single play. Hernandez with the Ole Sack. The time the ball was snapped and reached Eli's hands and he is sacked. Then we face 2nd and forever and then 3rd and long with Solder failing. Yet, somehow it will be blamed on Eli.

You can maybe escape one free rusher, but Eli is facing multiple DLs beating their blocks. Theres nowhere to go. You guys are crazy. This line breaks down on multiple points during the same play.
RE: RE: JEnkins another guy not playing up to his freaking contract!
Again. It was Wheeler's turn to allow his man to march him back into Eli's lap. All of Eli's reads are limited to a second or two at most. Our OL takes turns on who will be the goat on each snap.
That we see some insanely dumb play calls that derails a drive....you're driving down the field, get into their territory, and then we go 5 wide on 1st down? Like seriously wtf
At least Henderson has been able to catch the ball
no... in 2016 we actually had some other guys on the defense doing their job. It allowed Collins to just play his position. In these years when we have some holes in our defense like we do this year, he is running around trying to do everyone elses' job
Who would you replace him with? Hes still one of the better SS in the NFL
true, and he is one of my favorite players, but it's a matter of economics. he's going to get paid more than he's worth and more than his contribution warrants.
I don't care how bad your line is, you DO NOT EVER pay decent players like they are stars. Ever. Under no circumstance is it a good decision. It's even worse when you have a team who isn't anywhere near ready to win.
What a fucking anchor that contract is going to be. And the next moron who wants to quote PFF give it a rest. Belichick once again gets rid of a guy rather than over pay

They thought 2017 was the aberration. 2016 was the abberation.
you need to get six or seven first downs and be efficient. The giants are incapable of doing that. We can get a first down or two but we cant get any sustained drives
Again. With the one second before Eli is sacked, he has one read. When he rolls out, it eliminates half the field. Unless people are suggesting that Eli start slinging it across the field for INTs.

DG had almost no alternative. He was the best available Tackle. Thats what poor drafting does!

Imagine being in Shumur's shoes right now. What the hell do you do? Your personnel is just incapable. There is no answer. Check it to SB and hope for the best IS the answer.
still want to say that we had to sign Solder, regardless of the cost?
yes, we had to. Who else was there to sign? Watching him play now is hindsight. If we didn't do it we probably would still have no left tackle and would be watching the same horrible play. Then, everyone would be saying we could have signed Solder.

Don't agree. Somebody else could have been this "good" for far less money.

When you guess wrong with a contract like this, you are quite screwed for years. They're paying 60 million for what? Are they actually better at that position than last year?
This whole Shit Show Is... Eli is Really Battling... only took one Fucking Finger to Sack Him... Fuck this Whole Team and Coaching Staff.. They ALL SUCK.

We didn't have to sign him. We're 1-5. Poorly run teams sign decent players to the richest contract for an OT ever.
This has been a poorly run football team for years now from the owner on down and DG hasn't done much to change that
Solder has 2. Hernandez has 2. Wheeler is next to even the score. Who would have thought that the 2 players that are new to their position tonight (Greco/Pulley) haven't been responsible for pressures/sacks (yet)?

Im really starting to question the #Giants OL coach & how hes teaching technique with these guys. Some of this stuff is elementary that theyre messing up
when you're OL is giving the QB 2 seconds to throw. Its virtually impossible to throw over 10 yards downfield. You'd think that they could run the ball then, but we can't even do that.

But we still have no left tackle, and watching the same horrible play. Just with 35M I guaranteed dollars locked up to a bad player.
Say what you will about Vernon or Jenkins being overpaid, but they aren't bad.

This doesn't really make sense when the majority of pressure thus far has come from Solders side. If Solder doesn't know proper technique then...
easy to say...he is getting destroyed in seconds....go watch another NFL game, yea OL play is down for sure, but 2-3 guys on your qb in seconds every play?!? noooo that doesnt happen
Look I am not here to make excuses for Eli and he did miss him, but wheelers was practically in Elis lap on that play because he got manhandled into him. There is such a thing as cause and effect

Absolutely. This game is about timing. Even a semblance of a pocket would help. There is NONE!
Is Gettleman. His free agent signings have been a disgrace. The jury is still out on his draft but his free agent signings and the rebuilding of the o-line is cause for termination in my book.
but Eli did not stand in there and deliver. His eyes went to the rush.
He had a half a second. Jesus Christ!
He needs to stand in there and take the hit and STILL MAKE THE PASS. All QBs can do that. Manning is probably the 1000th best QB in the world right now... he just doesn't belong in the NFL. The OL is doing its job, now Manning needs to do his.
The OL is giving him the time, but all he does is dump it off. That last sack of Manning ... he should have thrown the ball deep ... how much time does he need back there anyway? He had the time (at least 1/2 second) so WTF is wrong with him?
At least I'm not getting mad and losing my shit anymore. I've moved past denial, anger, and bargaining and am settling into acceptance. Pathetic, pre-Halloween acceptance.

This is not Madden football that you play on a game. These are guys who get hit for real. Take a hit time after time and you begin to rush your throws. BTW, thats how the Giants beat Brady in two Superbowls. Even Brady will rush throws if you hit him a lot.
too late to do anything tonight, but I'd bench Solder, and move Wheeler back to his more natural position of LT. I'd also consider cutting him after this season, and eating the cap hit by doing so.
Jenkins should also be benched, and is playing his way off the team.
Let's at least get some players who care, like Wynn.
when the DL rockets past Team Turnstile to sack Manning, Barkley runs for a TD.
OR put Lauletta in shot gun and Manning 15 yards behind him. Snap to Lauletta and he turns around and throws a lateral to Manning. Manning now gets the 3 seconds he needs, 2 more than he's getting now.

I actually thought a handoff to barklet on our last sack would have gone to the house

I want to get on Gettleman for the Solder signing but really we had to get a left tackle. It was the perfect recipe for disaster we had a brand new GM reclaim the offensive line was the problem with the team. There were hardly any left tackles on the market in the best one was only average so of course we overpaid for one. I think Gilman was in a no-win scenario there if he doesn't sign anybody he's an idiot.

The pocket seemed to be setting up, Engram had space and Odell was splitting over/under brackets. Instead we get a dump off low and away. Those are the plays that are so frustrating...

OK with Eli taking a sack in that situation. It doesn't affect the FG, and buys a little extra time in case someone breaks free. The Falcons dropped eight into coverage.
can't block 3 guys, but the route design was terrible. Nobody cleared out a lane. And the guy who was open deep in the middle of the endzone was directly behind someone else.
Eli is fucking horrible. He had Shepard and didn't even look at him.
I'm thankful for what Eli has done for this franchise, a smashing success, but I'm fucking sick of watching him and his inability to move at all.
Did you think Eli was going to BECOME mobile in his 37th year when he was never mobile his entire life? This offense is horrible for Manning - but that isn't on Manning ... that is on the OL. Manning isn't mobile and the only QB who could do anything with this OL is Vick when he was on the top of his running game.
Did the announcers miss the wide open receiver there too?
He's getting no time, but he still is battling. He hit 2 really good passes there, and yes he missed one. No QB hits them all. This is not a bad'Eli thing today

He missed a TD and on the next play on 3rd down he had plenty of time as he stepped up to hit a wide open Shepard for a first, instead holding the ball and taking the sack.

Yup. When you only get an actual shot on like a quarter of your dropbacks, you can't expect all of those throws to be perfect
is working behind the worse o line in the league. But the disrespect on this site for all this guy has done for this team is really sad and uncalled for. I will always be thankful for his guts and Super Bowl wins.

Its sports Pal. All the respect in the world, but his career is over. Part of greatness is knowing when to say goodbye.
Hasn't adjusted 1 iota with a shitty oline
Once again botches clock management at the
end of the half. We suck but he has done absolutely nothing to make things better. Good coaches find a way to adjust. I have the feeling things are gonna get way worse before they get better.

1 minute left and 2nd down on the 12 and what does Eli do? snap the ball with 25 seconds on the play clock while the game clock is running. We had plenty of timeouts and not much distance to go. Patriots use every second of that game clock and don't let them get a drive before half. Thats why you have a 15 year vet at QB to not make rookie mistakes in the heat of battle. Dumb football is losing football
Use your DVR and go back to the shepherd pass that's a touchdown if Eli throws it out there. He had the chance for two touchdowns there, he missed them both

Eli complaining to Shurmur that OBJ ran the wrong route.
Yes he should have gotten even more open to make way for an Eli throw.
Know the game. Witten did a great job explaining that Odell misread the coverage.
I mean, Odell got open!
You're saying he should've gotten open open?
getting open in the NFL isnt like backyard football where you see him open and throw, many throws are timing and anticipation...thats why WRs and QBs do extra work to build that chemistry, they dont do it to pass time....OBJ prob should have stretched his route further to corner to beat under zone...thats all witten was saying, clearly eli felt the same as he looked pissed about it....again...it happens and its life in the NFL. this isnt just exclusive to the giants, it happens weekly

Yea I agree with this...but lets not ignore the fact that the HC needs to absolutely make sure this doesn't happen. It wasn't just that...why are they rushing down the field after the long pass?
have 3 fucking points against one of the worst defenses in the entire league and some people on here actually believe that Eli has been fine tonight.
The bar is so low for him at this point that people are ok with the way he's playing tonight.
He's a really, really, really bad player at this point. His numbers don't look bad because he takes zero risks and just throws check downs 90% of the time.
3 points in perfect conditions against this defense when they have Beckham and Saquon is a fucking joke.
Eli sucks. The offensive line sucks. A better QB would make the line look better, and a better line would make the QB better.
But the bottom line is that both the line and the QB aren't any good.
One running play in the RZ and they could've killed the clock.
Thats on your starting QB. Shurmur doesn't make him snap the ball and lead his troops. A great QB leads and always knows the situation. That used to be Eli, not anymore.
spent a lot of money in the offseason, but we're still just as bad. Even worse, because of the salary cap implications of all those expensive contracts.
This is playbook football and it's just queer(in the scientific sense)
i dont think at this point anyone is saying Eli is fine, i think most want to move on, but right now, this isnt on him....the OL was DREADFUL all half minus that last drive....and what happened? we got points. if the OL plays better we can score some points....defense has done enough to win...its pretty simple. we arent a good team, but eli isnt the only issue..
reading game threads as they've become unbearable with over reactions.
Frankly we suck, team is built terribly and we are hanging in there. Did Eli miss OBJ for a TD, most likely, could Beckham have just run to the corner instead of trying to do some "fake" before making his cut to the corner? Probably (These shitty announcers even covered this fact). Every play hasn't had one player to blame for everything but here we are with all the blame going on the QB, Ignoring the fact that our O-Line can't block for shit and Barkley can't even find a damn hole.
We have been losing in the trenches all season, yet we continuously blame our skill players.
gave Atlanta life. Lots of miscommunication still with this defense. The Free Safety sucks ass. The CBs give up too much ground, LBers are not dropping enough in zone. Oline horrendous and not allowing this offense to do much of anything, Eli missed a few passes. This team is just so hard to watch right now. If they lose tonight the team will start collapsing. I dont think Shurmur could keep this team together. They just dont seem to be capable of overcoming adversity.
and throw the ball. If it gets picked, it gets picked. Quickest way for him to get out of here and away from this chickenshit o-line, chicken HC and chickenshit offensive scheme.

This ^^^ well said. We are awful upfront and will never having a winning season, regardless of QB/RB/WR. Just brutal... another season same story.

Eli needs to be a leader of men and have composure and lead his team. That is why you have a 15 year vet at QB because he should handle those situations like nothing. The physical erosion I can deal with. I can't deal with mental errors and playing like a rookie when you have played NFL QB for 15 years. Situational football will win or lose you games in the NFL.
"OBJ should have been in the corner" argument if this was still Gilbrides offense...but it's not. If a WR is open, it's the QBs job to get him the ball. Just like it's the Olines job to keep pressure off the QB.
The play was designed for him to get to the corner. With the underneath route run by the other WR there was no need for OBJ to try and sell the inside move. Just get where you're supposed to be.
This Oline is sooooo Fing bad. Theyre worse this year then last, if thats even possible?! Id like to blame the Oline Coach, which is not that great, but you cant make chicken salad out of chicken shit?!
Barkley is averaging 1 yard per carry and Evan Engram is our leading rusher.
Change the QB all you want. Wont change the outlook of this team. This is the worst OL in the NFL.
He also was never handed the ball more than once in a row and probably not more than once in a single set of downs. Did they even run the ball on 2nd or 3rd once besides the 3rd and 1? You can't be that predictable and expect much more than what you have
3 man rush, no pressure and he steps and spins into the middle of the pocket for the sack.
A plus NFL QB extends the play; rolls outside; pressures the defenders until someone breaks open.
But Eli can't do that... Eli can't create... and there's no reason left for him to be on this roster.
Time for Eli to go.
LOL...Did you not hear them say that every receiver was blanketed? And how do you "Create" when you're completely encircled?
Have you seen the QB play around the league? Many QBs would exploit that 3 man rush, use some athleticism to move out of the pocket and either someone breaks open or they can run it in. It's no guarantee for a TD but they give their team a chance. Our offense is missing that entire element.
that even one person on BBI believes that Eli isn't done. If you're on BBI chances are you're watching most of the games every year. This offense has sucked shit for 3 consecutive years, what more do they need to see to realize that Eli is shot? Mentally even more than physically.
I will always love Eli because of 42 and 46, but that doesn't mean you have to be blind to the fact that he is totally finished.
is going to be a massive purge next year, possibly even bigger than the one we saw after last season. That's what will be interesting, not the bad football we'll be forced to watch the rest of the year.

How is anyone going to run on that play when they have 4 defenders within a yard of them?
Coaches, Janitors, Cooks, Water Boy's, ,,FUCKING Head Coach looking at Same 5 Plays on that Card ALL NIGHT, QB, Wide Outs,, EVERYONE not named Barkley SUCK, Jenkins and his Fucking Hair Ribbons. Mara.. This whole Organization Sucks ! Reality.

I don't disagree with you. Its infuriating and dissapointing. But as a fan I'm holding my HC more accountable than anyone when it comes to clock management. There were multiple fuckups clock management wise on that drive.

Hard to say one was more right than the other. They can both be 100% wrong.
Im a novice in every sense of the word, and Im instantly screaming st my team for them to slow down and I get 4 text messages from family and friends saying the same thing within 10 seconds.
They basically turned what was probably a +4.5 probability-weighted expected points outcome into a fat zero, because neither the QB nor the coach had the presence of mind to realize that the biggest problem they were facing was too much time on the game clock.

I will always love Eli because of 42 and 46, but that doesn't mean you have to be blind to the fact that he is totally finished.
Barkley is done too I guess. I mean, the OL is playing an acceptable game per your analysis, so wtf is wrong with Barkley?

There's a pretty decent portion of fans who can't accept 2 things can be true at once. Manning and the line are bad. Manning and the depth at the skill positions is bad. Manning and the play calling is bad.
But it's not just pick 2 of the above, it's pick all of the above.
RE: RE: RE: Eli on third down near Atlanta's end zone
but we will have to endure this shitshow another 9 games.
My concern is their evaluation of Olinemen. Just because the guy is a Hog Mollie doesnt mean he can play?! Big men allow you to compete?! Well, thats true, but they have to be able to play?!
Agree. This mess goes back to him. He is the clown who chose the idiots in the front office who are rebuilding this high school level offense.
The move that started it all: marrying the quarterback to this shit coast offense that doesn't suit his strengths in the least. Everyone thought throwing quick slants was the best to improve the offensive line. Well, here we are.

Yeah he obviously forgot how to pay qb in this brilliant offensive scheme and behind this wonderful o-line. Oh yeah and that highly paid receiver who doesn't recognize the difference between a zone and man defense.
One running play in the RZ and they could've killed the clock.
Thats on your starting QB. Shurmur doesn't make him snap the ball and lead his troops. A great QB leads and always knows the situation. That used to be Eli, not anymore.
Hard to say one was more right than the other. They can both be 100% wrong.
Im a novice in every sense of the word, and Im instantly screaming st my team for them to slow down and I get 4 text messages from family and friends saying the same thing within 10 seconds.

Exactly. It is on Eli though. If you have a young QB you can blame the coach but a 15 year vet should never make that mistake.
Eli is 13/16 and no ints. He's doing his job dude.
Barkley 7 carries for 8 Fucking Yards
Red Zone no touches Yeah Ok
I get it ... one carry and
its a 7-3 game Schumur is questionable at best Play calling is there anything new not being able to watch
just audio with Papa and banks ..
Eli sacked 3 times already..
see no changes so far none !

Lol what? You're happy with his performance tonight becuase he completed a lot of high % checkdowns? I guess I get it now..
Eli's been a great player over his career. He isnt any good now, but I'm not sure how that play said anything about him as a player. He literally had wide open space in front of him and he ran it. He's battling because of that? Huh?
Eli hasn't quit or anything like that, but it's strange to hear people talk about how he's battling when he won't even step into throws and really takes zero risks at this point. He used to step into throws and would chuck it down the field even with pressure in his face, now he just checks it down.

Perhaps pause to think about the fact of what witten knows vs you?
Right or wrong he can't keep calling out his players (Eli) on the field - he's a coach in NY and yelling "throw it to Odell" on national TV is just gonna make this season an even bigger shit show. He's a fuckin child who's over his head trying to be a leader of men
doesn't seem to be able to go through all of his progressions at this point mentally. Seems like he at most gets to his 2nd progression and either throws it there or immediately checks it down. He didn't even look Ellisons way. He panics and jsut gets rid of it because he's always worried about the rush and looking at it even when it's not there sometimes
Well, just wow. Clearly, the NFL and MNF have passed their prime. Soon well be back to watching poodles jumping through hula hoops for halftime entertainment.
admitting he is done just yet. But, that 3rd down before the half is a perfect example of what is wrong. Yes, with a 3 man rush and dropping 8 there was nobody open initially. But, stepping up into the middle of the rush and getting swallowed up by 2 DL is not the way to make something happen.
He should be done with playcalling. Idc if Eli misses 10 open receievers in a row. The dude refuses to even attempt to stick with the run. 3rd and goal at the 1. Run the damn ball up the middle twice.
That was the draft where everyone the Giants wanted, including Floyd and Conklin, were gone. But Reese could have traded down, even if he wouldn't get full value for the pick.
RE: Ryan was pressured and completes the ball while falling away.
The Giants are going to lose like 20-10, 17-6. If the Giants could sustain like one more drive a half they would be given up 5 points less a game. It's crazy how you script these long drives after missed offensive opportunities.
that blitz was fucking terrible....the guy had to run 25 yards to get to QB...how long he think they gonna hold ball?
The blitz worked. Ryan had to make a tough throw off balance and under pressure. He makes the throw because that's what good QBs do
Lol Ryan good qb.
having the second safety come is stupid...its WAY too far. it works on a long stretch playfake and thats it. sorry but thats setting up for failure there
Ive seen nothing in this game that makes me think the Giants can truly compete with any of the good teams in this league. Lets not start picking up meaningless wins.
On the throw to Shepard... if he turned inside instead of outside... its a catch and a chance to turn up field.
OBJ, Engram, and now Shepard have all misread defense inside the red zone.
The defender was inside so Shepard was right to turn outside. Eli has to read the defender and throw to Shepard's outside shoulder. This is basic QB stuff, and Eli's fault
All my years I have never seen anything like this! We cant fucking score a TD if our lives depended on it ! The Dave Brown giants had more offense than this shit ! This is embarrassing!
Has he been perfect? no But he has connected three times down then field is on pace to have over 300 yards and has been fine. Eli has had bad games this year and shown that it might be time to move on, but tonight is not a bad game at all. I am not going to say its a great game, but he has been fine
.
I firmly believe the game thread is completely scapegoating eli

This team will never win anything with Shurmur as their head coach. I dont see a coach with a good feel for the game and the smarts to get it done. I could be wrong but right now I dont see it.

Fine, I can go for that and its a legit criticism but people are acting like its Danny Kannel out there.

The game is about scoring points, not compiling meaningless stats
You have to come up big in the big moments......where is he?
You can not dimminish the importance of scoring points....yeah he is playing real well tonight, but you get paid to win and you win with points.....it is just so frustrating
3 times in the second half. One was that sweep at the goalline. I'll keep beating that drum....Eli throws a 51 yard pass, quick 7 yarder, and Barkley runs for a 1st. Then we throw 3 times from the shotgun, not even a single playaction pass lol
And I'm sick of the built in excuses for bad qb play.
Then leave the forum. All you do is bitch about this place, yet you spend a ton of time here.
Sure, because what passes for opinions around here in so many cases is junk. Theres a small percentage of people who actually understand things and they're a pleasure to talk to.

According to Elgoman everything is Eli's fault. Lack of a running game, our D not getting sacks, special teams, etc.

Your own opinion perhaps has too much value in your own mind?
not surprised. its always been like this. opposing team gets a td first then we score a field goal. then they get another td, and we get another field goal...... its expected. never capitalizing on the red zone. we couldve been 21 pts up. but you know they are the giants.
Im not normally a guy who complains about announcing but this isnt hyperbole...
This is the absolute worst, most ill-informed, elementary level announcing I have ever heard in all my years of watching football.
Tessitore is a pro. However, he has no talent in the booth with him. Witten and Booger are terrible. Louis Riddick should have been the choice for analyst to replace Gruden.
the Eli vs. OL crowd: It's both. And yes, some of the receivers have run the wrong routes. We also can't run the ball. How is this game different than any other this year, and most from last year? That's what is so disappointing. We are still plagued by the same problems.
Really think about this when considering how bad this offense is. The Falcons give up 32 points a game. We're getting excited on this thread because the Giants had a functional drive. The Falcons average giving up 5-6 scoring drives a game, with several of them TDs.
I actually think this is the worst offensive game of the year.
Trying to be so smart
You have 2 of the 10 best weapons in football- line up and let them make a play not calling this gimmick shit - 3rd and 2 what a joke
how many times can barkley catch a pass 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage
He had to throw it, that was the play. The OL players were already getting down the field to block, you could see Solder over 5 yards down. If he didn't throw it, and waited and threw it to someone else, it would have been a penalty. it was like a screen

Half of the defense was keying on Barkley. The right move there is a fake toss to Barkley and then a pass to someone else who is most likely wide open at that point.

Again, the OL was downfield getting ready to block and the other receivers stopped to block too. If he waited there would have been a penalty for lineman down the field. Everything is not always Eli's fault, yet some want to blame hime.

Nobody else ran a route and the OL was downfield.
Shurmur never called screen passes on 3rd and long in Minnesota. Why is he doing it here? Maybe it's because he doesn't trust Eli.
Who has a ducking modecum of common sense. They just converted 3 3rd and shorts and none of them were negative 8 yard throws. They even handed the ball off to a RB

What are you even saying? It wasn't a screen and it wasn't 3rd and long.
if people think it makes me a bad fan, I want this team to go 1-15. Until they have a quarterback, they're going absolutely no where. I'm sick of watching this garbage offense. The one constant in the garbage offenses of the last few years is Eli. Thank you for the memories but time to go
games? They are consistently embarrassed on prime time and have Ben for years now. This is just pitiful display of football, possibly the worst in the NFL.
and we had some bad seasons in the early 80s and some really bad teams in the mid to late 90s, but the last two years have been just brutal and completely devoid of any fun. I just want to enjoy my football team again
Who wants Shumur back ?
he is just as bad as McHandley .
What a bust of an offensive line putrid play and for
GODS SAKE NOT A Single free agent has panned out .
If there is a trade or two to be made for draft
picks do it now get what you can and draft an O-line

Funny thing is, their OC is generally disrespected.
It just looks incredibly innovative and effective when compared to ours.
No one is watching besides Falcons and Giants fans. They have to subject us to discussing which of the teams we hate most is most likely going to win the East while we obviously come in last place.
Why does the NFL keep scheduling the fucking Giants on prime time

This team is in such a mess right now I just can't belive
how many non-starters are on this team not even suitable backups .
They're not trading Barkley, OBJ, Engram. Defensively the only guy you could get a decent pick for is Landon Collins.
Just lose out. It would be by far the best thing for this team. Spare me about winning/losing culture shit. So they go 5-11 and it's somehow a winning culture?
There IS pressure on the Eagles to perform this year. I heard his news conference. Trying to say there is no pressure on the players and the team was last years thought. Not this year. Pederson is going to lose more.
DG doesn't do any more dumb shit like signing decent players to elite contracts when they are already 30 or trading draft picks for guys like Ogletree who quite frankly is average at best.
I think DG is a clown, but the Giants aren't firing him anytime soon so just have to hope he figures it out.

please shut up. The Giants are "resilient" because they finally scored a touchdown down 14.
Before he's talking about how Eli running for 8 yards down by the goal line says a lot about Eli and how he's always battling even with the negative talk.
This broadcast booth is awful. I loved Tessitore on college games but he and Witten do not mesh well at all
RE: The Ofense was very determined in that series!
Give me 22 OBJ's. I bet well win a hell of a lot more games than this pile of steaming shit of a football team we've been running out there the past few years.

1-15. Let's go. Go Redskins
I'd trade Engram. He is not an impact player and is not a great blocker. Maybe with a better QB and OL, but how can you ever know that?
At least Barkley got the score .
now I have been listening on the Radio
They had a 1st on the two yard line and Barkley didn't get a
touch ?
The play calling in the red zone stinks
probably did it because even if it fails, it's still a one score game with another TD and a two point conversion. But the smart play was to kick the XP.
Peterson did this last week and it was explained. You have a better chance of winnin in regulation on a 2 point than in OT. This gives you 1 free chance as you can still tie game
RE: Eli should have talked him out of it - its Eli's fault
I would have done the same thing. Either we win or we lose. We are 1-5 with the #1 pick and we havent looked good. Why the hell would we be playing for overtime
This idea has been covered so much that when Chase Stuart, at his Football Perspective website, wrote about the strategy nearly three years ago, he said the topic had nearly already been exhausted:
The math has been clear for so long, and been presented by so many writers, that this topic is essentially beating a dead horse. Late in games, it has always made sense for a team, after scoring a touchdown to cut a lead from 14 to 8 points, should go for two. The trailing team gets two bites at the apple: if it converts, a touchdown now wins the game. If the team fails, they get a second chance to erase that mistake. Only if the odds of missing *both* attempts were higher than the odds of making the first attempt would this strategy fail to make sense.
ESPNs Seth Walder dove into the data yesterday, saying going for two in that situation was a favorable strategy numbers-wise, as well.

Truly. We sat through a miserable season last year only to see the HC and GM replaced with clones at best...possibly worse than that too which is the truly unbelievable thing to me. Holy hell the franchise is screwed.

I take it back this actually makes sense
Do the numbers of scoring 1/2 2 point conversions outweigh the likelyhood of making 2/2 PATs?

But that's not the goal, read it again you're playing for the win on the first one the tie on the second. In the 2 PATs you're playing for the tie

almost got it, too. in contrast to what macfarland said (and i can hardly listen to the guy), i think it's because the team is struggling that you make a call like that. no problem with the call here
Eli ha probanly ruined any chance he had at making the hall of fame. People are going to remember these last 2 year more than anything and he has beyond mediocre the last 2 years and besides to playoff runs he has just been an average qb that will end up with a losing record. Not a hall of famer. I am sick of hearing about the offensive line, its a new nfl and he cant pkay it in anymore he lacks the mobility to play the position. Brady is the exception to this thought process but he is the greatest off all time.
then you 100% have to be against going for 2 if they got the ball back down 1. And a lot of people bitching about going for 2 in that spot I think would have wanted the Giants to go for 2 down 1 if they got the ball back.
If you go for 2 there and don't get it you still have a chance to get overtime.
If you kick the extra point there and then go for 2 down 1 and don't get it you have no chance of overtime.
Smart decision imo if you aren't playing for overtime. I think a lot of people on here would want the giants to go for 2 and the win if they were down 7 and got a TD late.
It's not what people expect so it's automatically an awful decision according to some, but people love when a coach goes for 2 down 1 with under a minute to go. This was essentially doing that but with less risk.
The defense is not the reason this team is about to lose. They held Atlanta at home in the dome to 20 pts. This loss is on an offense that cant score on the worst defense in the NFL.
Gift them the chance to score at the end of the first half with terrible clock management. This game doesn't matter but at some point the giants might play a game that does, and you just can't make those mistakes.
I am very impressed with the 2 point conversion decision. Its clearly the right move, but it's unorthodox so people will react badly to it. I hope Shurmur actually understands the strategy behind it because that would be promising from a game management perspective
As soon as you are in range if you need two scores. Thats Madden 101. Any teenager who plays Madden knows that but NFL coaches do not, its astonishing.
Should have kicked the field goal with over a minute left. You need two scores and an onside kick, its a very long shot but at least you can give yourself some time. Not just Shurmur almost every coach gets this wrong every time.
Its the only way you can tie it. Pooch it and try and catch them sleeping in fg range. It did bounce so if it took a nice bounce for us we'd have had a chance.
Thats just it guys. Going for 2 for no acceptable reason, QB sneaks with no time outs. Worst part is Eli makes nice throws to get there only to make sure we have no chance of winning. What a debacle.
The helmet communication was busted and you know this how?
Situationally with a running clock there is no time for Pat to call the plays there. That has to be Eli calling the offense to get the ball snapped as quickly as possible.
I no longer have any faith in the ability of the 2 people who run this offense.
Eli and Shurmur had as bad a game as you could have as a QB/coach combination.
Eli was 27-39 for 399 yards and he had as bad a game as you could have? Again, I am cool with criticizing Eli for his shitty red zone performance, he didnt ha e a bad game maybe not a good enough game but it wasnt bad
Of watching this game is it bangs home the point this team has an inordinate number of holes. The OL is horrid, the defensive backfield is awful, save Collins. The QB is done. Giants need about 14 picks this year.
Good in a way, better than getting meaningless wins I guess.
He's staying in school.
It's October. Anyone talking in absolutes about whether a guy is willing to pass up $30 million dollars is misguided. We just went through this last year. Rosen loved UCLA. His parents are rich, he doesn't need the money.
Nobody could have watched this game and thought Eli played well.
LOL...If you're blaming the QB who just threw for 399 yards with two receivers going over a hundred yards with a 71% completion ration and none of that coming from a short pass and run you're a fucking idiot
Nobody could have watched this game and thought Eli played well.

Some of us can watch the games and understand what is happening. Some look at the stats the next day with no idea of what they mean.
Check out Elis stats in the red zone and then remind yourself that that Falcons were 31st in the league in red zone defense coming into the game.

Well please let me know when you finally understand it because you sure as shit don't get it on this one Ace
Nobody could have watched this game and thought Eli played well.
LOL...If you're blaming the QB who just threw for 399 yards with two receivers going over a hundred yards with a 71% completion ration and none of that coming from a short pass and run you're a fucking idiot
Some of us can watch the games and understand what is happening. Some look at the stats the next day with no idea of what they mean.

Bingo.
Good argument...LOL
There was nothing really to add. The offense is horribly inefficient as it's been for several seasons now, the accumulation stats and high percentage throws that don't make first downs don't change that. We're trading TDs for FGs and that's when we get lucky. In the modern NFL that is happening today, Eli is playing terrible. Your shitty arguments won't change that, nor will calling people fucking idiots in some faulty sense of self-righteousness without legitimate cause.
you'd see a lot more "empty stats" comments. It seems we pick and choose when to care about statistics when it suits us.
If you can't objectively look at the facts that he was constantly under fire for 3 qtrs with zero running game and yet still threw for 399 yards and came within 3 points of tying the game then your whole point is nothing but agenda driven horseshit

The objective facts are that 399 yards allows people who are NOT objective to believe that he played well.
What are the odds that is a lead story on some news outlets tomorrow, regardless of the outcome of the game???
OBJ: Challenge Accepted. Tuesday morning, "How do you like them headlines, Johnny?"
Yup.
Wow. A pass rush. Nice play by Wynn, but that was horrible OL play by the Falcons.
LOL
I assume there was a RB or TE close enough?! I dont know

I have a feeling that the refs felt like the Giants messed up Ryan's throwing motion as they were taking him down, thus altering the pass.
Not a check down. It look like a swing pass
And now Manning goes down. Hernandez beaten.
they all got beat. it was a meeting at the QB
Its always something killing drives!
agree
like the announcer said, it's how Eli responds that's important. so far this season, not good
He's the definition of a statue back there. I've never seen anything like it week after week.
Wha?!
our OL blows. i just don't understand why.
no kidding. i hope it doesn't kill us for the next few years.
He's the definition of a statue back there. I've never seen anything like it week after week.
Agreed. It's both. Bad OL play plus Eli's immobility equals no offense, despite all our weapons.
This is the best OL combination we can hope for this year.
He's the definition of a statue back there. I've never seen anything like it week after week.
If Hernandez reach blocks and doesn't allow inside pressure by shepherding him outside, Eli can step up in the pocket.
No idea what you expect him to do there.
Agree. It was Mara who ordered Beckham be signed before we got a few games out of him to see where he was.
Gettlebelly came in and changed everybody. No chance for chemistry.
What do you want him to do, four guys surrround him every time he catches it.
Meet the worst offensive line in Giants history.

last year was worse
NE is watching this and laughing.
yea thats not true. jones is a great WR. he is gonna get his catches...
Quote:
from that rush no matter what he did, but holy crap it's frightening how Eli doesn't even attempt to move around to avoid a rush.
You can maybe escape one free rusher, but Eli is facing multiple DLs beating their blocks. Theres nowhere to go. You guys are crazy. This line breaks down on multiple points during the same play.

He will get catches, but how about contesting one balls once in a while?
Jenkins will pack it in by half time.
People say Landon Collins is a good player. Someone tell me how that works.
There are moments in-game when Olgetree just loses complete focus.
??
Again. It was Wheeler's turn to allow his man to march him back into Eli's lap. All of Eli's reads are limited to a second or two at most. Our OL takes turns on who will be the goat on each snap.
i wouldn't either.
I blame statue Ryan and his man purse,
This team changes schemes so much how in the world can you evaluate anyone.

Very choppy.
no... in 2016 we actually had some other guys on the defense doing their job. It allowed Collins to just play his position. In these years when we have some holes in our defense like we do this year, he is running around trying to do everyone elses' job
Thinking same thing. Was losing my shit seeing that ref just stare at the hold😡

true, and he is one of my favorite players, but it's a matter of economics. he's going to get paid more than he's worth and more than his contribution warrants.
Wow. What a play by Barkley to turn the corner for the first down.

Bunch of knuckleheaded mushmouths.
It will be rocking for the SEC Championship and full.
Shut up, honestly.
I feel like he still could.
I don't care how bad your line is, you DO NOT EVER pay decent players like they are stars. Ever. Under no circumstance is it a good decision. It's even worse when you have a team who isn't anywhere near ready to win.
Not very many.
They knew Solder was done.
I did like 10 years ago when I wasnt in college. Man they are something.
5 yard penalty ans then we just randomly decide not to run the ball again. Playcalling needs to be handed off...pun intended.
Don't worry the Giants org is a little slow in figuring out that we actually need oline with quickness, this is not Jimmy Johnsons oline model.

Like they just won the Super Bowl. No character, no brains, little talent. Blow it all up.

Eli had three decent passes so far. That's all we have to show for it. I wonder if we will get the ball beyond mid-field this half.

They thought 2017 was the aberration. 2016 was the abberation.
Mog Hollies ...
Thanks to Mr. Hog Mollies. At least Solder is getting well paid.
Sorry, meant Left Guard!
Again. With the one second before Eli is sacked, he has one read. When he rolls out, it eliminates half the field. Unless people are suggesting that Eli start slinging it across the field for INTs.
You love this, admit it?
Its breakdown of ol that puts this o in long downs, which they cant overcome

DG had almost no alternative. He was the best available Tackle. Thats what poor drafting does!
Because we have NO blockers for Barkley or Eli
its a good OL class...prob have to spend two picks there
Everything is lateral!
Good luck ..
Heard it 8 fucking times already
It is a slog watching these games
yes, we had to. Who else was there to sign? Watching him play now is hindsight. If we didn't do it we probably would still have no left tackle and would be watching the same horrible play. Then, everyone would be saying we could have signed Solder.
lol i think the OL is better than last year but just still bad
Well that's good at least ... Doesn't he play guard?
Regardless, they're still very much in this game!
I thought Reese was an idiot and DG was the real brains behind the 2 championship runs though.
Christ...

We didn't have to sign him. We're 1-5. Poorly run teams sign decent players to the richest contract for an OT ever.
This has been a poorly run football team for years now from the owner on down and DG hasn't done much to change that
gotta block up front so we can take advantage of secondary
Regardless, they're still very much in this game!
Absolutely, two BAD teams. Usually with the giants I feel that two-score lead is insurmountable, tonight a ONE score lead may prove to be so.
Solder has 2. Hernandez has 2. Wheeler is next to even the score. Who would have thought that the 2 players that are new to their position tonight (Greco/Pulley) haven't been responsible for pressures/sacks (yet)?
Manning 9/9, but for only 76 yards.
yes! love following a big play with a big play. its a good call here to take a shot

I remember when people bitched about his completion percentage, those were Eli's best days. Now he completes 65-70% of his passes but sucks shit

Cannot do better than a shut out so far (other than scoring defensively).
Stop with this nonsense. Stop trying to feed some BS agenda you have if you're watching this game and placing 1 bit of blame of Eli you're an idiot

This doesn't really make sense when the majority of pressure thus far has come from Solders side. If Solder doesn't know proper technique then...

Yea, the lack of production so far is all on Manning. The OL changes have helped tremendously and Manning just sucks balls.

Yes. Thanks for the on site observation. Much appreciated.
Throw should and can be made. But, I do not think that is a pitch and catch throw.

Ewi does no wong!
He had no time on the third down play?
Maybe not a qv, but there are qbs
why is Gallman brought in ?
He missed a TD and on the next play on 3rd down he had plenty of time as he stepped up to hit a wide open Shepard for a first, instead holding the ball and taking the sack.

They snapped the ball on first down with about 20 seconds on the play clock.
Sure as Eli is getting sacked. They dropped 8 into coverage.
Once again botches clock management at the
end of the half. We suck but he has done absolutely nothing to make things better. Good coaches find a way to adjust. I have the feeling things are gonna get way worse before they get better.
Shurmur is offensive genius, according to Mara.
You can cut the tension with a .... fork.

Completely agree.
They should be running toss sweeps with Saquon left and right all game long!
This booger dude seems like a typical BBI Eli hating poster clueless as they come.

getting open in the NFL isnt like backyard football where you see him open and throw, many throws are timing and anticipation...thats why WRs and QBs do extra work to build that chemistry, they dont do it to pass time....OBJ prob should have stretched his route further to corner to beat under zone...thats all witten was saying, clearly eli felt the same as he looked pissed about it....again...it happens and its life in the NFL. this isnt just exclusive to the giants, it happens weekly
Yea I agree with this...but lets not ignore the fact that the HC needs to absolutely make sure this doesn't happen. It wasn't just that...why are they rushing down the field after the long pass?

The bar is so low for him at this point that people are ok with the way he's playing tonight.
He's a really, really, really bad player at this point. His numbers don't look bad because he takes zero risks and just throws check downs 90% of the time.
3 points in perfect conditions against this defense when they have Beckham and Saquon is a fucking joke.
Eli sucks. The offensive line sucks. A better QB would make the line look better, and a better line would make the QB better.
But the bottom line is that both the line and the QB aren't any good.

Have you seen the QB play around the league? Many QBs would exploit that 3 man rush, use some athleticism to move out of the pocket and either someone breaks open or they can run it in. It's no guarantee for a TD but they give their team a chance. Our offense is missing that entire element.
I will always love Eli because of 42 and 46, but that doesn't mean you have to be blind to the fact that he is totally finished.

There's a pretty decent portion of fans who can't accept 2 things can be true at once. Manning and the line are bad. Manning and the depth at the skill positions is bad. Manning and the play calling is bad.
But it's not just pick 2 of the above, it's pick all of the above.

Cmon dep, Eli should have been leaf blocking on that play. Its his fault
Ive been watching Ellison. Hes supposed to be the good blocking tight end. He sucks!!!

Everybody in my section said same thing...
Well then they are fucking dumb as you. OBJ ran the route as if he was being covered in man. Eli threw it as if they were in zone.
They broke the play down 5 times and should how OBJ misread the coverage.
But I am sure drunk morons in section 212 know more than people calling the game.
Awful poster. And now a bad person too?
Dont take this personally but you suck...

Just ice tea tonight. It doesnt matter, its the same story on offense for past 3 years no matter what I drink.

Yes. And he lost control before he hit the ground

2 of those throws the WRs misread coverage.

According to Elgoman everything is Eli's fault. Lack of a running game, our D not getting sacks, special teams, etc.

Idiotic.

Its without a doubt the right call especially for a team with a bad offense who would likely lose in ot

Yeah my initial thinking was confusion, but on reflection I'm not sure.
A defense thats busting their ass and is on the field too much because of an inept offense tends to wear down.

Have they seen us in the red zone tonight? Does that factor into the math??
LOL...Fair point
You think Jason?
Oh please. Stupid comment. Right now he's our best corner and this is the NFL.
Time for Eli to pad his stats!
The entire offense AND defense would play better.
Offensive line is Offensive .
When Barkley 14-43 Pathetic
The Dead Zone Shurmur is Clueless
And the refs missed the false start on that play
Youre playing the Giants. Stupidly long FG. Or punt it deep.
Well. Its the Giants. So. Kick the half-field field goal and put this on ice. No-brainer.
The defense is not the reason this team is about to lose. They held Atlanta at home in the dome to 20 pts. This loss is on an offense that cant score on the worst defense in the NFL.

Eli 23/33 for 327 and no TDs! Difference in the game
Lil Yachty is going to be dead, and you are going to say that I've been listening to him for years & he is fabulous.
Narrow those goal posts!
He and OBJ should do a joint interview together.
Hits a 56-yarder. To end the game. lol
This team.
the 70 yarder is next week! lol
Ganu-esque.
What a great season.
I would TRY to firesale before the deadline. The Cooper trade tells you teams are willing to overpay at this juncture.
Doesnt matter anyway
Narrow those goal posts!
We didn't lose to a long FG. We were already down 8.
It's true. We've been paying for it ever since, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Lol the idiocacy oban this site.
What a great season.
Lmao
do you think it is just some random dude who got up off of the couch?
That wide receiver is the only reason this team isnt being shut out.
FG defense? Manhood?
You're a Fucking moron, right? It's ok.
do you think it is just some random dude who got up off of the couch?
way to kill my dream
What a great season.
Lol this was good
Or against a divisional rival.
hahahahha
Wha?
We scored, but have no time left.
Our OL sucks
5 seconds left.
Joke.
Horrible coaching.
FIRE PAT
seriously. WTF?
This guy might get canned this year too. He is fucking strange.
Forfeit the rest of the season.
Our OL sucks
Yep, what a push
FIRE PAT
That was Eli not Pat
I am very impressed with the 2 point conversion decision. Its clearly the right move, but it's unorthodox so people will react badly to it. I hope Shurmur actually understands the strategy behind it because that would be promising from a game management perspective
Was this a bookie decision over under lol .
Just shoot me !

He may want to be canned to avoid ruining his resume on this train wreck.

The helmet communication was busted and you know this how?
Should have kicked the field goal with over a minute left. You need two scores and an onside kick, its a very long shot but at least you can give yourself some time. Not just Shurmur almost every coach gets this wrong every time.
And that's ignoring the debacle at the end of the fourth quarter.
You have to kick it deeper to give a chance for a FG. Eli can't reach the EZ from midfield
They needed a FG. So went for a tricky shot that would be in range if they recovered. Smart.
Jonathan Stewart where are u??
That is on Eli. Why would Eli think he would make either one of those.
Jonathan Stewart where are u??
LOL

kind of onsides kick was that?

Good point.
He's right. Shurmur isn't making that play-call. That was Eli making those calls.
He wants the number 1 pick next year too ... he's looking into the future.
He knows Rome wasn't built in a night.
WTF ... with that train? All that technology and they block that out?
Why did the Giants gave no timeouts with more than half the fourth quarter to play? What were they called for?
Were the timeouts legit?
I suspect Pat will cover for Eli, but I bet Eli did that on his own

They didn't use them until about 4 min left. They had all 3 up to that point.
Good in a way, better than getting meaningless wins I guess.

That's convenient, then you can blame Eli no matter what is said.
Fuck him. Fuck Mara. Fuck Gettleman.
Great onside kick btw.
Worst Giants team I've ever seen from top to bottom. At least the early '80s giants had budding Parcells and simms.
This team is watery shit.

You know this how? I have no idea who made that call.
Eli and Shurmur had as bad a game as you could have as a QB/coach combination.
I still say, SELL!

Im one of Elis most loyal defenders, but whoever decided to do that twice in a row should get roasted for it.

Situationally with a running clock there is no time for Pat to call the plays there. That has to be Eli calling the offense to get the ball snapped as quickly as possible.
Good in a way, better than getting meaningless wins I guess.
He's staying in school.
WTF are you babbling about Coach?
Shurmer cost us when he didn't take the easy 3 points earlier in the game.

Eli was 27-39 for 399 yards and he had as bad a game as you could have? Again, I am cool with criticizing Eli for his shitty red zone performance, he didnt ha e a bad game maybe not a good enough game but it wasnt bad

It's October. Anyone talking in absolutes about whether a guy is willing to pass up $30 million dollars is misguided. We just went through this last year. Rosen loved UCLA. His parents are rich, he doesn't need the money.

Check out Elis stats in the red zone and then remind yourself that that Falcons were 31st in the league in red zone defense coming into the game.
Have a great night you fool.
