For the love of God, SELL. TRADE. FIRESALE.

Anakim : 10/22/2018 11:45 pm
The deadline is in a few days and without knowing the cap hits and cap penalties and all that, PLEASE TRADE SOME OF THESE PLAYERS. Build through the Draft. We have so many f'n holes on this team, so please save money and load up on draft picks.

I'm begging you, DG. Get more draft picks. We already don't have a third. Load up!

Why change it now? We are clearly on the right path. Just gotta stick with the analytics.

certainly consider trading just about anyone, but it's not in the Giants' mantra, so I doubt anything will happen. We'd also have to trade at a steep discount.

You doing ok? Hope all is well.
ObJ for two 1st
Foobarbaz : 10/22/2018 11:51 pm : link
The amount we are paying him we can get 2 good receivers in the market plus the two draft picks.

Most teams aren't dead at the trade deadline and teams overpay in this window (see Dallas). They have to cash in and try to move some of these guys. I think there would be market for Vernon, Jenkins, Collins, Shep, Snacks, etc. Any guy that you don't foresee being on the roster and performing at a high level in 2020 should be on the block.

Even if it's with a team like Cardy or Bills? We can get a QB plus Nick Bosa

I agree but the cap is a killer

Any picks in the first four rounds are a plus compared to this crap
This offseason is going to be ugly
AdamBrag : 10/23/2018 1:21 am : link
The Giants have some BAD contracts. The Giants are going to have some tough decisions with Vernon, Jenkins, Omaneh. Obviously, we'd like to cut all of them. But, cutting any of them has dead cap space implications.

Whoever is creating these contracts is doing a really bad job.
The Giants should absolutely move
robbieballs2003 : 10/23/2018 6:37 am : link
Snacks, Collins, and Jenkins
Anybody but Barkley and Hernandez should be available.
FStubbs : 10/23/2018 6:53 am : link
Make an offer, if it works with the cap make the trade.

This team is years away from competing.
Firesale = bedwetting nonsense
bc4life : 10/23/2018 7:25 am : link
2 OLine starters and a Free Safety would make a difference. If they can run block for Barkley - everything changes.

Might laso want to play Carter more and pick up another pass rusher.

There's talent on this team - they've lost a lot of close games.
Great idea. Sell everyone at 50 cents on the dollar
jgambrosio : 10/23/2018 7:25 am : link
Get a few draft picks and pray that they can produce at a fraction of the level some of these guys have the ability to play at. That will really get you out of the basement faster!

I would add OV to the list, too. While he can restructure to lower his salary next year, I don't see any reason why he will be retained under his current contract ($15.5M for 2019). His value will never be higher and better to get something than nothing.

But the cap hit is a lot. He'd be a better candidate in the offseason imo.
we have to trade somebody,

We have the space to move him now. Look at Spotrac's site and toggle the red x for this year.

Picks
TyreeHelmet : 10/23/2018 10:30 am : link
Already missing a couple picks next year including the 3rd. I’m shopping Vernon and Jackrabbit and others. I think those guys can really help a contender and would love for the Giants to add picks. They have holes all over this roster.
Two words
arniefez : 10/23/2018 10:41 am : link
Salary cap.

learn it, live it, be humbled by it.

The Giants don't have the cap room to make trades.
Step 1 is getting a competent person in to run the organization

Gettleman is not that person.

I'd take my own advice on that cap comment. They can move these guys.
That was my motivation for trading down from #2

on OLine would make huge difference.

Easier said than done, especially through FA where very few quality OL see the open market. The best and probably only way we fix the OL is through the draft and that takes time. We also need a QB and a pass rush. Those take time and resources too. They need to come up with a longterm plan and convert short term assets (descending players on large contracts or ascending players you don't intend to resign) into longterm assets, (draft picks and future cap space) to coincide with that reality.
If it makes sense, yes
Rong5611 : 10/23/2018 11:40 am : link
This is so sad. I don't see where it does.

-- Snacks has some value to someone I would think. Hate to lose him, but will he still be here when (if) they fix this?

-- Vernon, maybe. But, a huge gamble. What if Carter isn't the answer? What if we don't get Bosa? We'd need to spend more money (or a high pick) on an edge rusher and have less to fix the OL. I think they need to see what they have with him this year (and learn about Carter too).

-- Collins, I am not sure that he Giants will sign him long-term, given the other needs that they have. However, our DB's are pretty bad too overall. If someone offers a 2 or 3, you would have to listen.

-- Jackrabbit - Again, who's going to play CB next year? Do we have the money to go get one if we let him go.

-- Eli - Would love to see him lead Jax to the promised land, but don't see him or them making this happen. Is he the veteran caretaker until the new QB is ready? Or, do they go with a Derek Carr or Joe Flacco next year?
