Hopefully the ownership has seen what we witnessed

Archer : 10/23/2018 9:48 am
I hope that these awful loses finally force the ownership to acknowledge that this is a flawed team that needs a major overhaul.

I think that ownership felt a belated obligation to send Eli out as a winner. They attempted to fix the systemic problems but they did not recognize that the problems could not be repaired.

I feared that if the Giants won a few games that ownership would feel vindicated with their plan, and they would continue with this approach.

It is now apparent that quick fixes have not worked and there has to be a complete overhaul.

I hope that the Giants have the courage to do what is needed. They have to trade their older players for draft picks. Forget about the CAP implications of these transactions, the Giants are at least 2 years away from being competitive. Pay off the CAP debt now so that in two years the Giants can go after impact free agents.

Most important the Giants cannot be nostalgic and protect nonperforming players out of loyalty. This will maintain the status quo, and the Giants will be competing for last place again next year.

The ownership

The ownership can also do something that is unrelated to the team.

(b) Put a dome on the stadium. (b)

The domed stadiums contain the noise and help to create a significant home field advantage.
This would have a psychological impact showing that the ownership is doing something for the fans.

This could be a catalyst to change.

...they say how upset they are but very rarely do they make wholesale changes like they did last season by firing the coach and the GM. I cannot see them doing it again this year. I think Bettcher is safe because I generally think he does a decent job with terrible personnel, but they will probably make Shurmur fire Shula as some half measure that accomplishes nothing, especially since Shula doesn't even call the plays. Or maybe they will make Shurmur give up the playcalling, but thinking the ownership watched last night and will do something radical is just not in the cards.
So, you dump/trade your best players....

And in 2 years you will be competitive again....

Excellant!!!

Never Said the best players

I never said the best players.
I am proposing to trade any player that is not part of a core group going forward.

There are very good players who will likely be in decline in two years when the Giants are becoming competitive.

I am also realistic to know that a complete rebuild will take longer than two years.

I really..

You can't forget the CAP implications or pay off the cap hit now for certain players.

For instance, it has been suggested to trade Beckham. It is literally nearly impossible to do so with the cap regulations.

Cutting a guy with a ton of guaranteed money will also screw us next year,

Cap implications absolutely have to be taken into account.
I really shouldn't..

have wasted the time to type that after I scrolled to see that it is a serious suggestion to build a dome for team morale??

Great fucking job.
BUILD! THE! DOME!

people are looking at the details here when the whole franchise has descended into NFL hell. I really couldn’t believe it when Gettleman, against 95 percent of the best minds in the NFL, and even a hefty majority of people here, passed up the perfect chance to draft our next quarterback and unload Eli’s cap contribution. Now we’are stuck with this management group until the owners decide that they’ve had a fair chance.

The Best Player in the Draft averaged three yards per carry, and without his long gain he gained 28 yards in 13 carries I think. There was very quiet talk before the draft that he was not a power runner who could get the needed four yards on first or second down that would make play action much more of a threat.

Obviously Barkley has great talent but was not the best player in the draft and not the best player to help Eli to win now. Blame the line, but a healthy Bradshaw gets his three or four yards.

I’m not a fool saying that Barkley was overrated or a terrible pick, just that Gettleman’s vision for fixing Manning and the franchise with just this one pick was always never going to work.

And I hate knocking a guy fighting cancer and maybe I’ve been a die hard fan for too many years and should stop getting so emotional about them.
You..

don't think Barkley was the best player in the draft??

Alrighty then.
And I'm...

really stumped what Bradshaw has to do with anything.

So any back is as good as Barkley behind this line? Is that the implication?
I said build the dome tounge in cheek.

Fatman it is unnecessary to become confrontational.

And I would appreciate if you had a job for me

Where did I suggest that the Giants trade OBJ ?
If you read what I wrote I said trade those older players who will not be part of the core when the team becomes good.

OBJ, Barkley, Collins, etc. are the players who the Giants can win with.

trade to illustrate how certain moves can't be made because of cap implications.

You know, the cap implications you said we can just forget.
fuck the dome

build a giant umbrella. it'd be cheaper.

I say we rent the train that runs from Secaucus to MetLife Stadium on game day and put a big banner on the sides "We're Sick Of Shitty Football!!!"

That'll show Mara

they should wallow in their fecklessness and incompetence.

This is a total organizational failure. Incredibly, ownership has contrived to screw up virtually every major decision they made since 2012. You would think that by dumb blind luck they might have hit on one or two good decisions. Nope, they have fucked up every single one.

The only thing that will save them now is to find a George Young to become head of football operations and then STFO of football operations.
I really don't care what
