Barkley is our best and most valuable player by miles, but at this point he might be the only guy on our roster that would net more in trade than we spent on him. If we're actually serious about rebuilding this roster through the draft he's our best chip.

There isn't anyone on this disaster of a team that should be untradeable.

everyone else is on the block, but you need to get fair value for them.

I hate to see Snacks go, but the rebuild would take longer than his knees have left. Same for Collins, and I'd only want to trade him if we could get significantly more than we'd get in a comp pick if he were to sign elsewhere.

Some of the vets are established guys who could fetch a reasonable return, and in all likelihood would probably not last until the rebuild is done regardless.

Last but not least Eli, if he were to waive the NTC - I'd hope he could find a team where he can at least have a productive end to his career.

I trade him for a second round 2019 pick today. He may develop, but he has been part of the OL problem - not in sync with Vet, and totally whiffing on plays. I think he can develop, but it's not a slam dunk.

Collins is another - what difference is he making in the secondary. I'd trade him for a third rounder today.
santacruzom
Go Terps : 10/23/2018 1:58 pm : link
Exactly. Think about Beckham as an example.

If we put him on the market in 2015 we might have landed two #1s + for him. Who wouldn't make that trade now? Even his most ardent fans would.

Barkley is our best asset, but there are two things unfortunate about his situation:

1. He's on a terrible team that is wasting his incredible ability and is unlikely to be good any time soon.
2. Wear and tear is an issue at his position, especially for someone as explosive as he is.

Barkley is a special player right now and I don't want to trade him. But he isn't doing anyone any good on the Giants - not the Giants or himself.

But reflecting on it just reinforces how sadly and deeply fucked we are.

At this point I would advocate for a total tear down and multi year tanking situation. 2020 draft picks would be great because it's a strong qb class and as bad as we are, we still might want to trade up. We are essentially tanking while trying to win so we might as well lean into it.

In the meantime I would play lauletta and acquire several other cheap young QBs to see if we can hit the lottery with one of them. I might even carry 4 QBs next year and let them battle it out. If we get really lucky with one, its a huge boon.

Just to be clear, I wouldn't give away our good players. But I would trade them for real draft value.

Why people are alarmed that Barkley would be in the mix is expected because they like the "generational" thought and the thrill of watching him.

I'd love to find a sucker to take SB. But I think too many teams are smart enough to realize finding RBs is as easy as going to any gas station and buying a Snickers and Diet Coke at that convenience store.

This is going to sound odd - but we are "stuck" with Barkley too - like OBJ.

If you can get rid of Odell and his contract
Dinger : 10/23/2018 2:31 pm : link
I think you have to. I love his heart and his talent, but he is a WR. At this point, the headaches he is creating, both in the media and on the playing field aren't worth it moving forward. The Giants won with the likes of Steve Smith, Plaxico Burress, Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz and Mario Manningham. They are planning to have a new QB in the next couple of years. Odell would have the same effect on the next QB as Shockey did on Manning. It won't happen but no way should he be untouchable...he should be very touchable ;)

Tough ones I'm on the fence about:
Jenkins (If this will take a few years get a top pick for him now I guess, gonna be hard to replace)
Collins (Great player but need to clear cap space, I'd resign him for the right price unless someone offers a #2 for him)

Nothing else worth keeping.

Lack of common fucking sense on this board is astounding.

Now you idiots want to trade Barkley?

How could anyone want to duno the best back in football after 7 games when he is cost controlled.

Just STFU, Barkley is untouchable and it isn't even close.

Turn around can happen fast in NFL with some wuality drafting. Reese fucked us on that. DG had a good first draft, his second is good and we could be looking at a different team in 2019 and beyond. You guys need to relax. Acting like we lose by a margin if 30 every game.

It's easy to find any position. Just use a 6th or 7th round pick on that position, and -- voilà -- you found that position! So easy!

But finding greatness at a position? Yeah, that usually requires a 1st-round or high-2nd-round investment. Go figure.

I am not suggesting we trade Barkley but if some team offered 3 number 1s+ or their entire 2019 draft we should listen. Obviously the offer would have to blow us away 4-19 in our last 23 games. I get it, you love SB, me too, but RB is at the bottom of the list of positions I would want to build a team around from from scratch. Unfortunately for us fans, we are nearly at scratch. Save the inevitable...you are a moron for wanting to trade SB. I don't, but I would, for the right offer because of the situation we are in. We need a ton of players in controllable rookie contracts that can contribute right away to offset the horrible contracts we are saddled with.
If I don't laugh,

I'd cry. It's pretty comical watching this circus anywho.
The draft picks from this year (including Beal) & OBJ.

I like several other players (Shepard, Engram, Collins) but nobody else should have an "untouchable" label.

Carter has to be

on any untouchable list. Guy has elite pass rusher ceiling.

It's easy to find any position. Just use a 6th or 7th round pick on that position, and -- voilà -- you found that position! So easy!

But finding greatness at a position? Yeah, that usually requires a 1st-round or high-2nd-round investment. Go figure.

Exactly....fucking stupid comments like it's easy to find a back.

Look around the league, teams spend high picks on RBs....people still argue Barkley is replaceable. It's a shame, we actually forget how bad this O looked with Perkins lmfao

It looks just as bad now with Barkley as it did with Perkins.

lmfao

terps,

we are going to need a dumb comment counter for you on here pretty soon.
perkinsand this run offense was a joke. without barkley and beckham, this team gets shut out weekly.
barkley is above and beyond any back we have had since tiki. our OL sucks and our QB is declining so offfensively we may look worse, but its obvious we are better off with barkley over perkins
No one except Barkley is untouchable

So Lauletta is untouchable?

Beckham, Shepard, Engram, Collins, last draft class. That’s it

Solder and probably Vernon are untradeable due to their contracts, at least right now. Snacks is probably our most valuable asset; decent cap number and contenders are absolutely begging for DT help
Just barkely and odell

I would add damon Harrison if I knew that he was all in on the betch schemes.

If so, he is untouchable as well. But that's it. But,no more selling low ala the corner.
Maybe not untouchables but keep:
ZGiants98 : 10/23/2018 8:40 pm : link
Barkley, Gallman
OBJ, Shep, Lattimer
Engram
Hernandez
Hill, Tomlinson, Snacks (He can probably play for a few more years)
Carter
and

Good call on Rosas. I think he's gonna be a great kicker for us for a very long time.

So Rosas and Barkley lol

After seeing guys who the Giants cut/trade go on to have long careers with other teams I’ll say it’s about fucking time
