Giants Are Not Tearing Anything Down; Apple Was Scapegoated

Giants34 : 10/23/2018 7:35 pm
We keep reading all of this nonsense about the Giants tearing things down. And what exactly signals that? What happened today was the jettisoning of another Reese 1st round draft pick for the sake of it - to say they are doing something. Let's break this down:

They want to look at younger players? Eli Apple is about as young as anyone who will replace him. Shurmur remains committed to Eli Manning. Oh, and Shurmur said they won without Apple in Week 2 and will do so again.

I can't help but get the feeling that we are in trouble. For a long time. The coaching staff and front office are delusional. I used to think - including when they were hired - oh, they have to support Eli publicly. Now, I think they actually believe it. He is a huge part of the problem. Everyone sees it. They don't.

We didn't do anything today to indicate we are rebuilding. LaCanfora saying we are open for business makes me believe that even less. All we did is trade a guy this regime doesn't like, didn't like, and never liked. Until we make other moves - necessary moves - for the actual betterment of this franchise, I am really questioning whether Shurmur and/or Gettleman have the best interests of this franchise in mind.
Uh, no.

yea because its in their best interest to lose.

they want to win too....

they may not make moves that you always agree with but DG is cutting some serious fat off this team, he clearly doesnt approve of the way reese evaluated talent.
give him some time to work. guys like omameh are shit, but he knows they are stop gaps. he knows he had to sign solder as a patchwork stop gap because we would have no OT otherwise, he prob hated flowers from beginning, but wanted him to work out to try and salvage some past draft capital.

people need to relax, we are a bad football team with som young skill players, we just need to build an OL which is a work in progress and find the QB long term, both can be tough but arent impossible...

LOL. —They traded away two starters

And gutted most of the roster. Your evidence they aren’t rebuilding is... what exactly?
The fact that you take

Shurmur s public support of Eli as evidence they are in denial is not a good basis for your argument
How much "research" did you put into
Diver_Down : 10/23/2018 7:52 pm : link
your conclusions to support the arguments?
Mrs. Apple?

But these posts stating an opinion as fact are as stupid as they are tiresome.

So, the GM and coach - each of whom are one of the 32 people in the entire world getting paid for their position - don't know football ... because OP knows better? ROFL
Apple was rotten.

I bet he is out of football next year
GiantEgo : 10/23/2018 9:13 pm : link
Aside from what ever physical gifts Apple has It's pretty clear the guy is just not a player. It's always looked to me like the guy just doesn't enjoy playing football
Yes Yes Yes
Dragon : 10/23/2018 10:33 pm : link
Yes let’s all go out and play inspired football for a team that’s 1-6, but of course it’s all right because it’s one guys fault, now we will win by putting more talented young guys on the field, oh wait a minute we don’t have any of those guys do we?
You can’t help but feel we are in trouble?
Giant John : 10/23/2018 10:34 pm : link
Really? What was your first clue? Maybe our record?
I don't think you can call him a scapegoat after last year's
jcn56 : 10/23/2018 10:36 pm : link
shenanigans. His off the field troubles went onto the field in the worst way.

As for whether or not the FO is rebuilding - I don't think they know, so it might be awhile before we find out.
The OP is right
Ron from Ninerland : 10/23/2018 11:38 pm : link
The whole way this trade came off stinks. Apple was a first round draft pick with tremendous ability whose play has improved this year. Within hours after an ugly loss he's unloaded to a contending team that desperately needs playmakers on defense. And in return the Giants get jack shit.

Did they even shop him around ? No. They dumped him on the first team that would take him. This isn't about rebuilding . This was a George Steinbrenner like temper tantrum. The only question is who's throwing it, DG or Mara himself.
Well the Snacks
