If he gets the rookie sack record, he'll probably get the award for the year.
Gettleman told us you build a team from the lines out. Yes, Barkley's a talent, but there's a reason DE's get paid more than RBs. Von: BC for ROY - ( New Window )
Right?
Because a bunch of HOF QBs including both Mannings weren't awful their rookie years.
He is talking about this year where he has been awful. He is the worst rated QB this year by a mile and probably needed to sit a year or two. And Sam Darnold is the furthest thing from a HOFer. He might not be a NFL starter in a few years. Jets fans will be killing him the next 4 years and calling him the new Mark Sanchez. The "he doesn't make the same mistake twice" narrative is out the window cause he does.
will win O unless mayfield blows up in the 2nd half and the browns win a bunch of games. None of the other skill position players have enough workload to have a chance. In 50 years an offensive lineman has never won RoY.
D is more interesting with Chubb, James, Leonard and a few others. Some good defensive rookies in this class.

Ridley is trending to double digit TDs - just FYI.
They're reflective of who gamblers thought might win OROY, not what anyone with an actual current opinion thinks.
I don't think there's a soul alive hyping Darnold to win OROY. I'm sure there are more than a few degenerate Jets fans who would bet otherwise with their wallets, though.

Yes he is.
Yes, there is an ORoY and DRoY.
I believe Darius Leonard (IND) is the defensive frontrunner right now.

He just isn't RoY material. That's all.

No they aren't.
Totally agree on Ridley. He's been brilliant. BTW, he'll never get it but QNelson has really kicked it in for the Colts.
I'm supposing the OP just means OROTY, btw.
On D, based on what I've seen, I think it's likely Ward or Tremaine Edmunds of Buffalo.

and Ridley are much more effective with better supporting staff.

No love for Darius Leonard?
Guy already has 88 tackles and 4 sacks as a OLB.
Indy nailed that pick.
My bigger oversight was Derwin James.

Loved him pre-draft - if we had moved down, he's one of the guys I'd have been heavily targeting depending on how far back we moved.
LAC are building a nice little defense over there and they have a top 10 offense right now.
Once Bosa is back, they're going to be even better. Guy is a beast.

Agreed. I think the Chargers are going to the SB from AFC and that D is going to be a huge reason why...

I think they have a good team but they'd likely have to win in KC and NE to get to the super bowl, hard to see that happening

That's fine, but nobody was hyping Eli for ROY. Darnold at this point should be WAY down the list.
