is rarely believable. Consider that he didn't even know or care to find out that Lauletta was a fourth, not third, round pick.
Why was Lauletta rushing to the stadium? Shouldn't he have already been there, especially since this was the bye week, and there is at least some chatter about him replacing Eli?
I don't think we'll see Lauletta this year, but even if we do, as others have noted, how can we possibly assess his performance behind this OL? He'll escape a few more times than Eli, and avoid a few more sacks, but probably not much more.
I take this as good news. Sounds like Giants security has Â
justifying what he did by any means but he could have been crawling in traffic for quite some time. I believe he was almost at the stadium. I'm just not ready to hang him yet and sounds like the FO isn't either if Canfora is right.
Disregarding a Police Officer's Direction and pay a hefty fine with driving school and maybe a 90 day license suspension.
Such is the way of court and costly lawyers.
It was a minor incident. You shouldn't do what he did, and he needs to not be a dumbass in traffic, but it would be pretty silly for a team, or any employer, to not continue to want a guy around after something like that.

Won't be that much. They'll plead that down quite a bit.
And yes, no team is abandoning a player for a traffic violation in which no one was hurt.
First let me say this isn’t the crime of the century. But I live in the area and know this specific drive very well. Given his situation, it’s irresponsible to be at the junction when he was if he needed to be at at practice at 8:30am. The traffic and situation is awful every day and you have to be out of there by 7am the latest or you are screwed. Not the end of the world, but not a great sign of this kids work ethic. Especially doing it on multiple days.

I went to court once in NJ for a ticket. I sat there 15 minutes and added the fines. The court levied over $4500 in fines!!!
If this was a qb Reese drafted and/or Eli Manning was still elite or Tanney was a stud backup, he would have been cut right away.
Gettleman and the Mara’s have completely lost the Giant way last few years.
Even if all of your arguments were true, the Giants aren't cutting a 4th round pick over a traffic violation. I'm not trying to minimize his actions, he deserves whatever comes his way, but he didn't murder anyone, or beat up his girlfriend.
Absolutely. Silly to cut him over a traffic offense.
That said, you have to wonder about his work ethic.
Shouldn't be cutting it close in traffic to get to practice, especially if they are thinking about starting you at some point this season to see what they have?

That anyone is ready to cut him or even judge how good of a QB he might be based on this traffic violation. I mean Ben Roethlisberger has been accused of sexual assault by myriad women and yet he's considered a shoe-in hall-of-famer and actually seems to be well-respected around the league by his peers. I personally hate Ben Roethlisberger, but my point is I'm just surprised that anyone is talking about cutting Lauletta for "ethical" or "moral" reasons here and I also think it's literally stupid to even try to judge what kind of a QB he might be based on this incident.
Baker Mayfield tried to run from police and actually almost injured himself horribly in the process of doing so. That certainly didn't stop him from winning the Heisman, being the #1 overall pick, and leading a 14-point comeback to give a team its first win in 2 years in his NFL debut.
My coworker says: "oh yeah but Mayfield was drunk when that happened." OK, so that makes things BETTER than the Lauletta incident? He showed the poor judgment of being publicly intoxicated and drinking to a point of making incredibly poor decisions, but my friend gives him a pass because like "oh who hasn't had a night where they got drunk and did something stupid eh?" People have odd morals and justifications for things.

So you’re saying, if the situation was absolutely perfect, they would’ve cut him?
Brilliant argument.

It becomes more than a traffic issue when you nearly run a police officer over and then refuse to obey lawful orders once you are stopped.

Give up on a kid for a traffic issue? People make mistakes. This is not the crime of the century. Cop could have been having a bad day.

That's what raises it above just paying a small fine in a normal traffic infraction.

You literally make this sound like it’s an episode of fucking Cops. Stop with the ridiculous bullshit.
This is very mild idiocy. It does not rise to BAD GUY stuff
If he didn't get arrested he would have been fine.

Traffic is always backed up.
