If the Giants can net $10 million in cap savings by unloading Eli and signing another vet, Eli will be released.
It would surprise me either way. I'm not predicting it and wouldn't be surprised to see him gone but just saying there is still a decent chance Eli comes back for another season. Nothing is decided at this point so it's pure speculation for anyone guessing.
Probably a veteran QB not on the team now. Not Sam Bradford. Maybe a reclamation project like Jameis Winston (Ugh) or Teddy Bridgewater, or a guy on the way down like Joe Flacco (Ugh), or a bridge guy like Tyrod Taylor (Ugh).
Starter week 9? Probably a young QB who hasn't played a regular-season down the NFL as of now. Maybe Lauletta, maybe a rookie. If they see a prospect they love on someone else's roster, maybe they make a trade.
No pay cut.Giants trade down and use multiple picks to rebuild the line.Herbert will be no better than Eli with current line.A lot of QB will play well with a decent line Beckham and Barkley.
although I can't imagine anything would change materially to make the situation any better, and seeing him take another year of beatings doesn't rank high on my entertainment meter...
It's the $20M they'd pay him next year. That's cap space that could be used to make the team better, both short and long term. Bringing him back would be a mistake, but that's the one statistical category that nobody can beat the Giants in these days, making mistakes.

The writing is on the wall, Eli will retire after this season. Eli doesn't want to play in another uniform and the team finally realizes what they should have seen a year ago that it is time to move on. They have to know they are shattering his legacy by throwing him out there.
The recent comments from Archie is all I need to know Â
You think Archie made those comments without any conversations about what is ahead? He's too savvy for that. Most likely the team acknowledged this is probably it and everyone agrees the best way is to present it as Eli's decision.
To go with Foles. And unless Herbert bowls them over I am going to predict that we trade back and accumulate pics to fix the offense of line in the defensive backfield as first two priorities -
Although game changing pass rushers are too hard to turn down sometimes
Some stupid team is going to overpay for him. Let's hope it's not the Giants.
If Eli's gone after this season, it should be a cheap QB - either Lauletta or the cheapest FA they can get their hands on. Draft a QB, let him sit on the bench until he's ready.

Not with that contract

Pretty sure it won't be Davis Webb.
Phil Simms
Kyle Shurmur
Glad to hear. Not interested in any stopgaps. We'll have high picks this year and next - no need to bother wth other vets at this point.
If Eli is there next season in any capacity except the Kurt Warner role for the nex Eli, Gettleman should be fired.
If he doesn’t get pulled over on the way to the stadium first.

i hope you're right, i think its time to move on
Lauletta if he doesn't or if Lauletta gets to play this year and shows something.
I think this is true even if the Giants go QB on round one this year.
