Kyle Lauletta? Before his arrest on Tuesday I would have put him on this list, even though he has yet to play a snap. Whether his ceiling as a pro is as a starter or a backup, you would think the Giants would have hoped get him on the field and find out. Now, though, his status is in doubt.
He has a little traffic incident and now his whole career is in doubt? Holy shit. It's making a mountain out of mole hill.
Defensively: Vernon, Collins, Wynn, Tomlinson, Hill, Carter. McIntosh and Beal are incompletes. I expect Jenkins is probably moved during UFA to a team that misses out on their target.
Subtract Vernon and Collins and the proven talent level just really falls off. That's not to say either player should be making record setting money. I expect Collins to be transitioned tag and see a contract that puts him just below Berry. I expect to see Vernon take a moderate straight pay cut in lieu of being cut.

Well if he doesn't get any playing time this year could wind up like davis webb..
Why do people over value Collins ? Yes he had one very good season but what have we learned. He is good helping to defend the run but has zero cover skills. He is one dimensional. Collins would have trouble covering Eli Manning

If he doesn't get playing time I hope it's because the coaches don't think he's ready and not because of a traffic incident.
Landon Collins was really bad as a rookie, but he had a great sophomore season.
The defense was great in 2016 and Collins was the young star. He showed that he could really do it all. He is not terrible in coverage. Some of his most impressive plays, discounting the hard hits, have been in coverage. It's also true that his worst plays have also been in coverage as those plays really stand out to people. He has been inconsistent the past two years and I do feel that he needs to be used more in the box than in deep coverage, but he is not terrible in coverage.
One media says something and others all repeat it and then we get people focusing on what they're talking about and overreacting. Collins can be a very very good player. Maybe not great, but damn good IF he is used properly. He said Bettcher's D is like what he did at Alabama. Maybe what worked for him in college isn't going to work for him in the NFL. The freelancing and trying to bait the QB by playing out of position & thinking he has enough speed to then make a play on the ball has all got to stop. Players need defined roles. Bettcher better find one for Collins soon or he might have to sign elsewhere next year. This is on the coaches. They are the ones that need to fix it.
yes Collins is terrible in coverage. An yes I did say he had that one very good season.I've been to games where he just looks lost in coverage. Many times seeing receivers run across the middle free. We all have seen it. A player gets hype up and then people start to over value them. Then they wonder why does every teams receivers seem to have a big day against the Giants. He is terrible in coverage but good defending the run
have a "little traffic incident". You don't get arrested because you were going 80 in a 65.
I think the point is that even though KL's traffic incident showed incredibly poor judgement, it's not a career ender or even a season-ender.
The traffic incident is not on par with sexual assault, beating your wife/GF, taking PEDs or recreational drugs or even trying to pass off his NFL gear as "game-used".
awareness in coverage and in the open field is lacking. I was thinking of plays where he was matched up one on one in man coverage. He also plays the ball fairly well in these situations. I couldn't believe the play a few years back when he let Cam Newton run right up the middle for a huge gain into our red zone and then he shoved Cam out of bounds for good measure. He has driven me nuts, but I've seen him play very well at times, so I take it that he's not very good in zone coverage. Maybe he needs to get his eyes checked. Seriously. But I attributed things to coaching and scheme. He can be very good in the right situation.
Towards the end of the game , I suspect he or they have found what he does best and he is now getting the defense ..... I think he will do well in the SanFrancisco game.......
Engram has had enough time to demonstrate his potential. He is often Â
