Does our "wimpy" schedule mean we might get on a roll?

Dan in the Springs : 11/5/2018 3:47 pm
We have 8 games left, only 2 teams have a winning record (WASH and CHI). Washington's OL has major health problems (LT injured, RG and LG from yesterday's game on IR, RT has MCL).

Some of these can be winnable, but not if we continue to play as lousy as we were in the first half.

@ SF (2-7)
TB (3-5)
@ PHI (4-4)
CHI (5-3)
@ WASH (5-3)
TEN (3-4)
@ IND (3-5)
DAL (3-4)

Given, we've looked non-competitive against our division rivals. We've also come close in our opening 8. Also, keep in mind that we've played a pretty tough set of games to open up.

I don't think we lose out. Best chances for wins: @ SF, TB, TEN, @ IND and DAL at home.

Will they end up improving on their 3-13 record? I think so.
Nope

I think San Fran is going to whoop us and they are the worst team on the schedule.

JPP is might even end Eli's career.

It's going to be bad.
We have a shot vs SF and TB
Jim in Forest Hills : 11/5/2018 3:50 pm : link
maybe WAS now that they have lost their OL
Maybe we can pick up 4-5 wins

Get a draft pick in the 7-12 range, give Gettleman and Mara the idea that Eli’s still got it. That we are right there, just a few tweaks..

TB is going to destroy us.
We will be 9-7

When the dust settles. NFC East Champs and Eli will get his third ring. Book it. The legend of Eli will be solidified permanently.

(If this turns out to be true I want legend status on BBI)

If JPP doesn't, Fletcher Cox might and K Mack will eat whatever is left the following week.
The Panthers (a super bowl contender)

needed a miracle to beat the Giants at home. The Giants won on the road against a 6-3 Houston team. They were close into the 4th quarter in a number of other games.

None of this means that the Giants are a good team, but it absolutely means that Giants will have a shot in pretty much all of these remaining games. To say we don't have a shot in any game is pretty off-base IMO. I mean Buffalo won a blowout at Minnesota. This is the NFL with small talent disparities between good/bad teams.

Would anyone really be shocked if they finish 5-3 for an overall 6-10 record? Personally, given the weak schedule, I think 3-5 wins is more likely than 1-2 wins. 4-12/6-10 is most likely final record.
maybe on 1 or 2 wins

Tampa and Indy.

Dallas could be interesting if they are out of the hunt.

But I can see 1-15

This was early and they still had some hope.

Vets are now trying to stay healthy and we do not have a bunch of kids trying to make a name for themselves like SF.

Eli will finally

..I need the offense to step up one game and show something.

Because if they don't start scoring at a higher rate, they aren't going to win another game.

Tampa is averaging 28.6 per game. The Giants are averaging 18.75. Not saying the Giants can't win, but they have only exceeded the Bucs' average per game point total in one game this year.
No
TyreeHelmet : 11/5/2018 4:30 pm : link
They will be underdogs in every game. And I don't really buy the argument they have been competitive.
The Giants Will End Up

nygnyy274 : 11/5/2018 4:48 pm : link
Couldn’t beat the 0-9ers last year and that was before Jimmy G took over at QB. and The bucs offense is a lot better with Fitzpatrick at QB so that is not a easy game either also the 9ers and bucs have awful defenses but it means nothing cause the giants offense makes every defense look like a combination of the 85 bears 86 giants and the 2000 ravens. Beat the colts in Indy lol yea right.
Sure
Thegratefulhead : 11/5/2018 4:53 pm : link
They are all winnable games. 8 in a row coming up. FFS
there is a very good chance
markky : 11/5/2018 4:57 pm : link
that we win one of these games.

our defense would have to come up big though.

Both those teams regularly score in the 30s. They actually have NFL offenses. Andrew Luck has gotten better every week.
If "getting on a roll" means winning two of eight,

Tampa in NY is the only reason I had.
But like I said I don't see us winning another game
The Giants have lost
Doomster : 11/5/2018 5:31 pm : link
5 of their 7 games by 7 points or less.....of course that is a little misleading since they have scored their only TD's of games, at the end, in garbage time....

But this team is capable of winning, if the other team just does not show up.....but even if that happens, this team, with the constant mistakes it makes, is quite capable of shooting itself in the foot for a loss....

If they lose to the 49er's, to win another game this year is just a fluke if it happens...
Nope

people laugh at the bills with peterman and anderson, but allen was just as useless and they blew out the frickin vikings. the 2nd washington game seems the most winnable at this point. we just can't down the insurmountable 7 pts again
This team is a shell right now
Sammo85 : 11/5/2018 9:08 pm : link
The OL has actually gotten worse as the season has gone along. The QB looks to be in shell shock due to constant pressure and is limited in his capability even when he has time. The defense has seen a few guys picked off and injuries have started there too now.

We have been lucky they’ve been in several games but I fully expect some blowouts over the rest of the games.
I doubt that the Giants will win a single game....
Fishmanjim57 : 11/5/2018 11:22 pm : link
Eli will continue to throw picks, the OL will continue to suck, and the defense will be porous!
Even though I love the Giants, their current state as the worst team in the NFC will continue throughout the remainder of the schedule.
just curious

Why are people hopeful?

What are they hoping for?
I always hope they win...
Dan in the Springs : 11/6/2018 9:24 am : link
Okay, maybe not always. If it were the final game and we were in a tie for the first overall pick and there was only one clear-cut player who fit a position of need in the draft, I might hope we lose that game.

I've read a lot of interesting thoughts on this thread. The only thing I'll add to them is that we always have a tendency to think the team is going to be what it was, and I understand that. I don't expect an offensive juggernaut or a 9 win team right now.

But coming out of the bye, we don't HAVE to expect them to be as bad as they were going into it. We can hope to see that some progress was made. I'm hoping for that because I don't want the loser mentality to sink in even deeper. Winning 5 of our last 8 might really create something we can build on.

The future isn't yet written.
I'd rather they not
JonC : 11/6/2018 9:44 am : link
There will be more turnover after this season, and we need the high draft picks for talent infusion more than we need a few wins.

Washington and Dallas suck. The Giants D played the Saints better than the Rams. They Even w Eli this team was a mediocre OL
Away from being around 500. They also played the Falcons a lot better than Washington.

Oakland is a disaster. They won't win another game. Gruden is being exposed as a guy who was out too long. Maybe he adjusts but anyone who is watching that shot show has to believe he's going QB. He will get rid of Carr. He's rather be wron w his guy that work w what he has.

We just got crushed by Washington. The Dallas game is what destroyed my soul this season. I thought for sure we could beat them, but we looked absolutely terrible.

There is no way we win against either team. Jamon Brown can't do it all for us.
