We have a good chance to win this game

superspynyg : 11/7/2018 10:00 am
While Mullins had a great game vs Oakland. We are not Oakland. We are not that much better, but we are better than Oakland. Our defense is better, our offense is a lot better.

Plus this team has not given up like last season. Barkley, OBJ, Jenkins, Collins, OV and others are still playing hard.

San Fran will not be able to stomp all over us like they did last week. I expect a very close game.

I expect a Giants win Monday night! 24-17

2-7!!

I'm expecting a loss because that's what we do. We lose.
Think we lose.
Giant John : 11/7/2018 10:06 am : link
We are very good at it.
I think they'll win too
cjac : 11/7/2018 10:07 am : link
I would really love to see them win 2 in a row

can you imagine
Short sighted and optimistic

Losing is to our benefit in 2018. SF seems to have more firepower than we do ... ours rarely shows up, probably reading too many press clippings from the offseason.
Lose baby

Of course the Giants do. The 9ers don't have their QB, and are in the infancy of their own re-build.

The Raiders are the only team structurally and effectively worse than the Giants in the NFL. Succeeding against them is not a great litmus test.
If the Giants can get a
rocco8112 : 11/7/2018 10:44 am : link
lead and play perfect they can win.

More likely they fall behind and at the first sign of adversity in the game the team checks out mentally. This is a losing squad. Losing is now in this team's DNA. The team does nothing well.

I expect a loss.

but I'm not sold that we can win.
Actually...
Dan in the Springs : 11/7/2018 11:27 am : link
our offense is almost identical in results to Oaklands, and our defense is significantly better. I think we're rated around 21st on defense while Oakland last time I checked was 31st, bottom of the league.

Having said that, I expect this team to win, or at the very least play very well.
we are, in a word,
UESBLUE : 11/7/2018 11:37 am : link
LOSERS.
You forget that the Giants OL is bad at an epic level
ij_reilly : 11/7/2018 11:38 am : link
This is one of the worst lines the NFL has seen in modern times.

To state that the Giants have a "good chance" to win any game is being overly optimistic, in my opinion. They have a chance, sure. But not a "good chance".

From center to right tackle, the line is putrid. The LG is a rookie and of course is playing like a rookie. The LT historically was a very good player, but he is playing poorly.

A team can't be expected to win with an OL like this.

The season is lost. Wins do nothing but hurt the team for next year.
Let's hope they bungle that good chance
jcn56 : 11/7/2018 11:39 am : link
like they have so many others this season.
I would not be upset to this team string some wins together
Mike from Ohio : 11/7/2018 1:11 pm : link
They are not going to the playoffs this year, and losses certainly help with draft position which is very important. But a couple of wins string together can do a couple of things.

1) Help change the culture and possibly keep guys from phoning it in as the season runs down.

2) Help identify those who are part of the solution by playing hard out of self respect, and those that are making business decisions. That will be important going forward.

I know, it's just a silver lining. But I think we may learn something valuable if there is at least a hint some of these last few games matter. The NFC East is so bad 2 or 3 wins puts them back into meaningful games (at least mathematically).
They've had a good chance to win pretty much every game this season.
Brown Recluse : 11/7/2018 1:33 pm : link
I'm sure those chances are no different here, and neither will the end result.
SF is giving us 2.5 pts,
Keith : 11/7/2018 1:36 pm : link
Im not sure I'd say we have a good chance to win this game. Maybe we have a better chance than all the other games?

Seriously this is probably the most important game to lose for the rest of the year. This game could EASILY decide whether we have the #1 pick or #2 pick in the draft this year.
They lost
nygnyy274 : 11/7/2018 3:22 pm : link
To a 0-9 49er team last year so why can’t they lose this game??
.
arcarsenal : 11/7/2018 3:34 pm : link
Has to be one of these every week - wouldn't be BBI without it.
Killjoy ...
short lease : 11/7/2018 3:47 pm : link
Stop crushing my hopes for the #1 pick in 2019 (no matter who we take).
Nothing about the Giants is "much better" than anyone else in the NFL
Go Terps : 11/7/2018 4:11 pm : link
It's tempting to simply say "the OL sucks and that destroys everything else", but the problems go much deeper. This roster sucks. The depth is non-existent and our supposed great players aren't as great as they and the fans think they are.
for those who say a win is a loss
mpinmaine : 11/7/2018 4:19 pm : link
I get it but the coaches aren't going to tank for a pick, they are not and the players as well. I hope NYG wins every game in front of them. . . every season. You go root for a loss.
San Fran is strong vs areas we are weak in
gidiefor : Mod : 11/7/2018 4:22 pm : link
as in defensive front vs Offensive line - I'll be very surprised if the Giants win
Wins are fun
JonC : 11/7/2018 4:23 pm : link
until you're sitting there on draft day picking #8 in a 5 stud draft ... pissed away your best chance to start getting better.
I usually root for wins regardless of the situation
Go Terps : 11/7/2018 4:34 pm : link
I don't put an enormous amount of importance in draft position - if you have solid personnel people it's possible to draft players that fit your team over a period of years. After all, is the point to acquire talent or build a team?

Anyway, this year I'm definitely rooting for losses. Not for draft position, but because I'm hoping that Mara will be pushed to the point where he will evaluate and question everything about the organization up to and including the man in the mirror.
Unless they are picking a quarterback
joeinpa : 11/7/2018 4:40 pm : link
Unlikely, the difference in picking 2 or 5 , not that big a deal
Not true
JonC : 11/7/2018 4:48 pm : link
every draft is different, and the talent scale as well.
The giants could lose every game for the next 10 years
Ten Ton Hammer : 11/7/2018 4:59 pm : link
By no less than 30 points and there would still be someone ready to post the weekly "this is a winnable game" thread.
Don't worry, help is on the way!

The Browns must have had a very sick locker room the past few seasons.

I get your point. I guess I should have added unless it s a quarterback it s usually not enough to get me to hope for Giants losses.

Of course in 81 we could have lost LT with a few more wins, so your point is valid

I've noticed your QB bias is getting in the way of some of your thinking since they picked Barkley.

In what game have they quit playing? The defense has gotten exhausted in a few games leading to late TDs. But they have not quit playing.
I still hope we lose
5BowlsSoon : 11/8/2018 8:28 am : link
And put some space between us and them.
There's definitely been stretches
JonC : 11/8/2018 8:51 am : link
where they've lost focus and it resulted in not putting up much resistance.

Philly - yep.
I can't imagine...
rsjem1979 : 11/8/2018 9:05 am : link
...even making it a point to watch the damn game. I'll undoubtedly have it on purely out of obligation and force of habit, but it's impossible to muster anything other than pure apathy about the result.

Win or lose, this franchise is a mess.
