Saints sign WR Dez Bryant

Anakim : 11/7/2018 11:26 am
FYI
Wow!
speedywheels : 11/7/2018 11:28 am : link
That offense is a machine; what do they need that malcontent for?
Michael Thomas goes out and has a career day

Their WR's are pretty solid, why would they a potential headache to disrupt what they are currently doing?
Why?
trueblueinpw : 11/7/2018 11:33 am : link
I guess they figure he can catch fades in the endzone and 50/50 balls at the sidelines? At least he doesn’t have the wear n tear of the entire first half of the season.
i guess he

beat out Brandon Marshall.
With the Giants 1-7 and no prospects of playoffs this year, I am
GiantBlue : 11/7/2018 11:34 am : link
rooting for the Saints to win it all and give Brees another SB. If Dez helps them with another weapon, then I am all for it. If he plans to go there and be a disruption.....then yeah....I am sure the deal will be cut-friendly.
Maybe he's got a good Vicodin hookup?

Maybe there's an injury we don't know about
jcn56 : 11/7/2018 11:38 am : link
I don't think his attitude should be much of a concern for them - he doesn't exactly have a lot of options, so some of that should be mitigated right off the bat, but at the first sign of poor behavior they can just cut him loose.

Low risk signing for them. I don't think he's going to be much use, but at a low cost not a bad guy to take a flier on for them.

I'm rooting against the Saints and the Bucs and anyone else who the Giants own draft picks from.

I'm a Giants fan first

Root against the Bucs all you want, but it won't help our draft. Those picks were in 2018.
That really doesn't make any sense to me.
Beezer : 11/7/2018 11:42 am : link
Does NOT seem like a fit at all, in any way.

At least it'll be interesting to watch. Maybe he doesn't see the field much, unless absolutely necessary.
Saints play the Cowboys 11-29

Potshots at Payton, why?
This is going to be interesting...
bw in dc : 11/7/2018 11:56 am : link
When AP challenged Peyton last year over touches his ass was shipped out rather quickly.

If Dez is stil Dez, then this could be a short stay...
Maybe they signed him
figgy2989 : 11/7/2018 11:59 am : link
Just so he can light the Cowboys up in Week 13, then cut him after!
It's a smart move
Go Terps : 11/7/2018 12:17 pm : link
He could give them an option in the middle of the field out of the slot in a TE/Marques Colston type role. It's basically zero commitment from the Saints - if Bryant is a dick they can cut him.

Good teams with smart coaches don't rest on their laurels.
They signed him because they need help at WR
ZogZerg : 11/7/2018 12:25 pm : link
They have 1 really good one and a bunch of guys.
He was on the market a long time
Peter from NH (formerly CT) : 11/7/2018 12:33 pm : link
He has to know that he is going to be the 3rd or 4th option coming in. He could be pretty effective in that role.
Dez
TyreeHelmet : 11/7/2018 12:35 pm : link
Not a huge fan of the guy but I actually really like this move. I think he can help them big time.

Why not? The guy has plenty of skeletons in his past. He's no Saint.

I forget what it is like to be a good team with a smart coach!

You simply cannot make this shit up. The biggest “get off my lawn” guy on the planet, pretends to care about character obsessively, and you think this is a good move? Lol, of course you do.

If the Giants were in contention and signed this clown you’d be in complete meltdown mode. But another team signs him and it’s a good move and they don’t rest on their laurels. Yeah. Right.

Their commitment to Bryant is zero. He goes into that locker room as a beta that is trying to save his career. The risk to the Saints is zero.

Great contribution, as ever.
Patriots style move
Giantimistic : 11/7/2018 1:40 pm : link
You bring someone in to your team like this when you are confident in your locker room and can cut your loses easily. Patriots do something like this every year.
Payton

Did it ever come out if they were any truth to rumors of Payton coming to the Giants? Great coach....

I don't remember seeing that. He has been rumored as a target of Dallas for years.
Saw this coming
Foobarbaz : 11/7/2018 5:47 pm : link
After Michael Thamos had to put over 200yards to beat Rams. They clearly needed extra skill pkayers

That is what I was thinking ... either someone is hurt and they are worried it might get worse or he is an insurance policy?
