I see no reason to assume he will be. He has shown no res improvement on offense since last year. It's the same ol' story - he has a nice game or two, people start excitedly talking him up, and he goes right back to sucking.
His three point shot is off right now, he’ll find it. Needs to be more assertive on offense of course. But you watch Mudiay out there for example who basically cannot play and it’s night and day. Frank at least gives the team a solid foundation on defense.
I’m not saying he’s going to be Curry but I think he’ll become an effective shooter. I am more concerned about his reluctance to drive to the basket. He’s been missing short repeatedly these last few games which I think is fine, at least it’s consistent and he can probably work through it. I would be a hell of a lot more worried if the ball was going all over the gym like it is with Fultz.
Unrelated. But do you think Rutgers will score a point this weekend? I'm thinking of throwing down on a shutout. It's a 40 point spread and Harbaugh loves games like this to make a statement to the committee.

If they're gonna pitch a shutout Rutgers would be the game. I see them somehow getting points on the board though.
Failure to box out is one of my pet peeves about many of the Knicks in recent years. But that was egregious.
For a guy who is so aggressive on the boards and with such great instincts for where the ball is going to be you would think some of that would translate more for his defensive positioning.
For 3 games. Let him play 25-30 and build up his confidence and then come back ready to play. A player can’t get back in a groove playing 9 minutes. Even the best baseball players in the world go to the minors after and injury to get there repetition back.
Knicks Film School tweet about Frank's D tonight Â
Kevin Huerter play in HS, very interested in watching his NBA career progress.
Some very good clips of Huerter from Peachtree hoops. Huerter clips - ( New Window )
The kid definitely mad ethe right decision since he was a 1st rounder, but still bummed he left Maryland. Was so fun to watch and I think we never got to see his best. If he came back we'd have top 10-15 potential with this killer freshman class we have.
RE: Knicks Film School tweet about Frank's D tonight Â
If he can get his shot to be even above average, with enough scorer's at the 2 3 4 and even 5, we can deal with his lack of offense. A PG who can play defense in today's NBA has value

We kind of knew going in that he didn't have an accurate shot. He has a smooth shooting stroke, but his shots simply don't fall. We saw that in Kentucky, Summer League and now, in the NBA.

34% from 3 isn't really good and he wasn't a good FT shooter. Consistency has always been his problem.
needs to become a better shooter to reach anything close to his NBA potential.
The whole thing was that he had the mechanics and stroke to be able to knock down those shots. I'm farrrrrr from a basketball expert, but I don't really understand that logic. If the shots aren't falling for him when he has a picture-perfect stroke, why would they fall for him in the future?
I was in the minority saying Knox needs to come off the bench. Â
but for the sake of conversation, he's appeared in four NBA games - one was his NBA debut (obvious nerves) and another two were spot minutes coming off an injury with no practice time. The one game he played under "normal" circumstances was against Brooklyn, where he scored 17 points and looked good doing it. He's in for a rough night against the Toronto wings, but hopefully he settles in after that.

Practice. He's been playing a high level of basketball for basically 2 seasons.
Fiz says that Knox wasn't even practicing. He went in for 9 minutes Â

No, he didn't. He was a streaky shooter, kind of like what we're seeing now.

You keep saying that. 34% from 3 isn't good. It may even be below average. 50% from 2...that's not that great either. Besides, how many of those were field goals?
He's an inconsistent shooter. He's more of a volume scorer than a shooter and I don't think he eclipsed above average TS% last year at Kentucky.
34% doesn't move the needle at all but it's certainly within the realm of possibility that that number goes up with development and that should't take long at all. Kristaps shot 33% as a rookie, and closed out 2017 shooting 39%
The top 100 current career active leaders in NBA 3P%, Curry is at the top at 43%, but he's going to the hall of fame and shouldn't be the standard for anyone.
Dirk is a career 38%
JR Smith .37% (lol)
Hayward .366%
Harden .365%
KP .360%
34% for an 18 year old who was mainly a football player Â
Except I'm not. Knox was an extremely inconsistent shooter at Kentucky (undeniable), 34% from 3 line is average to below average and I'd still like to know how much of that 50% from 2 were drives/lay-ups and how much were actual field goal jumpshots.
So unless you have something to provide that NYGiants16 didn't, I suggest you take a walk.
Emmanuel Mudiay is dealing with an ankle injury but he may play on Saturday against Toronto. Mudiay has averaged 13.5 points and 2.5 assists in the Knicks' past two games. David Fizdale inserted Mudiay as his backup point guard, ahead of Trey Burke during that span. "I think the most important thing that's happened for him is when he got hurt he got a chance to take a step back and watch everything," Fizdale said of Mudiay, who missed the Knicks' first six games with an ankle injury. "And I think he has a really high IQ and sees the floor well so it kind of helped him digest the system and how things work. And took some pressure off him I think as well. I don't know. I think our staff has done a heck of a job developing him and working on his game with him. And obviously I pump a ton of confidence in him. And I do have a lot of confidence in him. And so I've been really been happy with the way he's been performing."

Interesting framing of his role as a coach. I don't think Horny talked the same way.

this is the baby shit from kp i can not stand...
They gotta get KP on board. Clearly the knicks want to hold him out as long as possible. KP needs to understand the long term plan.

Fizdale did not even say anything wrong, he basically said he doesnt want to get ahead of himself woth kp and get excited about having him back..
plus he knew if he said kp was running aprints he would be asked a million questions every day and didnt want to put pressure on kp...
I hope the Knicks use him to their best advantage even if that means trading him on their terms. This whole franchise player thing from a guy who has accomplished nothing and can't stay healthy is total bullshit.
You got understand though they’re his pride involved. Â
I assure you KP is way further along than coach wants to admit. The Knicks are in no rush to bring KP back, they are better off the longer he doesn’t play. I’m sure KP doesn’t want to be viewed as a slow healer.

KP himself said he was going to take it slow and did not want to ckme back until he is 110%...
I guarantee he saw how well some of the young guys are playing and the style they are playing and is thinking if he is out there they win a few more of these games...
you could see the impatience coming especially when he posted about how much he misses playing...
he has no outside representation, it is all family in his ear and when that happens they are all going to side with him. No one is going to explain the other side and no one is going to say listen this is probably where they are coming from...
instead he gets the well look they are throwing you under the bus got to take care of yourself.
i bet he got home and someone told him you got to show you are sprinting because this makes you look bad..

because it makes it seem like kp didnt like fizdale saying he was not sprinting yet and it makes it seem like him and the front office are not on the same page...
First off, we can agree that it's in the Knicks best interest to hold KP out as long as possible. The other kids will get more PT and experience and the Knicks should lose more games thus giving them a better shot at a good pick.
We can also agree that the league and/or players union would not be ok with the Knicks holding KP out when he's healthy to play.
I also believe that KP is way further along in his recovery than Fizdale is letting on, way futher. If the Knicks were competitive, he'd probably be playing in Dec/Jan at the latest, but considering the situation, they are taking in extra slow. The guy was jumping off of a boat 3 months ago. If he's only jogging now, he would have blown his knee up doing that. Ive had 2 ACL reconstructions, I'm speaking from experience.
Therefore, the Knicks don't want people thinking that KP is anywhere close to playing. HOwever, KP doesn't want people thinking that he's soft or a slow healer. That's why I think KP showed that.

i agree with that...
my point was that kp should of went to fiz first and say hey why did you say i am not running yet...
kp loves to make everything out in the open, i would rather that stuff be kept in house..
it makes it seem like they are all not on the same page qhen kp himself said he was going to take it slow
it's because his knee isn't stable enough to do more and the muscles around his knee aren't strong enough yet. If that's the case, I assure you that jumping off the boat like he did was a major risk to his knee. He's so much further along than the Knicks are saying.
I agree. I bet the KNicks don't want KP doing that, it's making them look like liars and sending up red flags. They need to delay his return as long as possible and they won't be able to do that if KP is showing the world that he's ready.
Hopefully he only plays in 20-30 games which would mean sometime towards the end of Feb, beginning of March.

it is just annoying at this point, the vibe around the team and the view from around the league has changed. and now the media has ammo to create a narrative of dysfunction and not everyone on the same page once again
but I don't think it's that big of a deal...yet. It concerns me because I question whether KP is on the same page. I understand it, it's his legacy/career at stake. He has to worry about whats best for him and he probably wants to play when he's ready. He doesn't want to sit the whole year.

I get he wants to play, i have no doubt he is anxious to play. i would be worried if he was not anxious to play..
because they really don't want him to play, but they have to make it appear as though he's not ready. KP has to understand that. Maybe he does and doesn't care, I don't know.
So will KP get the max extension if he doesn't play this year? Â
If Fizdale really doesnt know everything going on with kp and his rehab and letting the trainers handle it..
so maybe as far as fizdale knew kp was not doing a lot more..fizdale did say he is trying not to thi k about kp back and trying to concnentrate on the guys hr has currently..
wasn't aware of where KP was in the process. Jogging usually happens 3-4 months after surgery. KP had his surgery in Feb. There is no way Fizdale thought KP was only jogging.
According to a report by The Athletic, seven teams are “monitoring’’ Rozier’s situation because of a perceived view he’s unhappy going back to the bench with Kyrie Irving healthy. Rozier was a standout in leading the Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals last season after Irving went down with a left knee injury. Rozier is averaging 7.5 points in 22 minutes per game, his playing time down from the 33 minutes per game he logged after Irving was injured last season.
The report stated Celtics general manager Danny Ainge isn’t interested in trading Rozier now and still wants to re-sign him as a free agent. It also stated the Suns as the team most interested.
According to an NBA source, at last season’s trade deadline, the Knicks “were shopping for what they called their own young Terry Rozier.’’

Knicks GM Scott Perry went after Elfrid Payton, but wouldn’t give up Frank Ntilikina, and had to settle for Emmanuel Mudiay.
It is however why I would have signed KP to a max deal this off season if I was running the team. I would have rather locked him up to ensure he doesn't pull anything unexpected. I would have just signed him to a similar deal the 76ers did with Embiid with some injury insurances built in. I think keeping KP on board is more important than entering free agency a year earlier. Hopefully I'm just worrying too much and they're able to do both.

I heard around the office that Lance Thomas will be out a month Â
Lance Thomas underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee for removal of loose bodies and will be re-evaluated in four weeks.
Thomas started the first five games of the season but had then seen his minutes reduced dramatically as the Knicks committed to playing their youngsters. Over his last five appearances, Thomas averaged just 4.4 points and 1.4 rebounds in 11.1 minutes. He belongs on waivers in all fantasy formats. Kevin Knox is working his way back from an ankle injury, and will soak up the minutes Thomas leaves behind.
lineup tonight. Lot of injuries so theres a lot of value with players.
Point Guard
Tyler Johnson - 4,700. No Wade, Dragic. Should get a lot of burn.
Derrick Rose - 6,000 - Playing a bad defense with Teague out. Riding the hot hand.
Buddy Hield - 7,400. Expecting a high scoring game.
Jimmy Butler - 9,500. All in on this game.
Jeff Green - 3,600 - Boom/Bust player. Low value, most likely will be low score dropped.
Justice Winslow - 5,600. Filling up the box score.
Aaron Gordon - 7,900. My big risk. Not in love with this one. Actually may change to Saric and get an extra 2700. Just have a feeling with him tonight.
Omari Spellman - 4,200 - great value here.
Joel Embiid - 11,000. My big play. 30-15 and a few blocks and assists against Charlotte who has no center.
he said frustration with perception he is not working hard to come back
This is my expectation and hope for the situation. Fiz's job is to talk to KP about it and fix things. If he does that there's no story. Actually, the story then is that Fiz has control of his guys and they're able to communicate. I think this story is overblown due to how effective Fiz has been.

the whole world can see it's better for the Knicks if KP milks the return. Noone in their right mind is juding his effort. Sounds like communication between coach and KP could really be improved - how are they not on the same page on this?
the KNicks would have to be really careful with how they present this to KP. It would probably be an issue if they told KP that they planned on keeping him on he injured list if he was healthy. They probably can't just come out and say it.

What's good for the Knicks isn't good for the player. It doesn't benefit him at all to milk the return. If he's perceived to be damaged goods, it affects his future earnings. Pretty simple.

wasn't aware of where KP was in the process. Jogging usually happens 3-4 months after surgery. KP had his surgery in Feb. There is no way Fizdale thought KP was only jogging.
Fizdale acknowledged he did NOT know KP was sprinting and also acknowledged the comments made KP respond.
My first reaction is that it's amazing that Fizdale isn't aware Â
of where KP is at. Then as I think about it, I guess that's not really important. The HC should be worrying about the guys in the lockerroom, the front office should know where KP is at in his recovery. That being said, common sense should tell you that KP is running and cutting vs jogging. He's 9 months into his 6-7 month recovery!
it's also reasonable to expect Fizdale to play dumb. To my earlier point...the NBA/union would not be happy with the Knicks sitting KP out when healthy so they need to play dumb and pretend like KP isn't ready.

You would think the Knicks would have communicated this "plan" aka playing dumb to KP.
from expanding his inner circle beyond his brothers. Janis is his brother's keeper at this point, which is nice, but he's not a typical NBA agent who represents players all over the league and has to maintain relationships with all those coaches, GMs and owners. Someone who has that responsibility, and a little more objectivity, might be of assistance when these "troll" moves are being debated over video games at 3 a.m.
but if you could get beal and keep max space next year qould you do it? probably cost you a first and frank at minimum
I wouldn't, though I admittedly don't know enough about Beal to speak intelligently. He seems to be redundant with what the Knicks already have, but the Knick's players are younger. Also, if I'm not mistaken, Mills and Perry have said that they're not trading young talent or picks, so it seems like they wouldn't either. I hope they stick to their guns.
I love Beal's game and he's young and under contract Â
BUT there are enough good shooting guards in this year's draft to sway me toward passing on that trade. That's a tough one though - Beal is one of my favorite players.
but if you could get beal and keep max space next year qould you do it? probably cost you a first and frank at minimum
And do what with Hardaway's contract? The math doesn't work out to have two shooting guards being paid that much. Beal is making 25, 27, 27m the next three seasons. Hardaway another 17, 17, 18.

hardaway would have to be involved most likely...
it was just a thought sin e wizards are most likely going to blow it up...
In Denver
Levert with a game winning bucket essentially at the buzzer.
Back to .500 and 2-0 on the road trip
why do you want them to win? i cant root for losses either but i can see what is best for the knicks and that is adding another high draft pick while kp is out...
Nrts should want the same thing, there is no franchise talent on the nets, levert is a good player and allen is a good player but they are not leading you to a championship...
if the nets are the 8th seed or barely miss the playoffs that is horrible for them..
So there is no reason to root for losses
In a perfect world yes they would get that but it’s not happening— play too hard and in a good system with good depth- doesn’t add up to top 5
Defining what those 2 have for upside is a bit silly- given the leap each is taking this year- in particular Allen who is a bit of a freak

Vonleh, on the other hand ...
ITs okay to say he’s playing like shit offensively. He makes Vonleh look like Steph Curry
Basically a double-double for Vonleh in the first quarter.
Mudiay is looking pretty good too, I think.
you have no idea if he will find it or not...
no one does and anyone who says definite either way is wrong...
he may never find it

Unrelated. But do you think Rutgers will score a point this weekend? I'm thinking of throwing down on a shutout. It's a 40 point spread and Harbaugh loves games like this to make a statement to the committee.

And now an off the ball foul on Kanter to boot?

yeah 4th piece ideally...
That's even beyond a rookie mistake, just dumb.

Yeah, Knox looks rusty but I think he is. I wouldn't panic. He's 19 and has been in and out of the lineup. He'll be good when he gets in sync.

it is not really panic, more concern that he is getting to down kn himself..
in summer league when he missed shota he attacked the paint and got himself going that way...
he is rushes to much when he gets the ball, almost like he is afraid he will never touch it
Can MSG please replace Alan Hahn? Not a fan.

Thanks for the racist post of the play. What a tool.
Some very good clips of Huerter from Peachtree hoops.

The kid definitely mad ethe right decision since he was a 1st rounder, but still bummed he left Maryland. Was so fun to watch and I think we never got to see his best. If he came back we'd have top 10-15 potential with this killer freshman class we have.

If he can get his shot to be even above average, with enough scorer's at the 2 3 4 and even 5, we can deal with his lack of offense. A PG who can play defense in today's NBA has value
Not a bad idea.
he shot 35 percent from 3 and 50 percent from 2 kn college

We kind of knew going in that he didn't have an accurate shot. He has a smooth shooting stroke, but his shots simply don't fall. We saw that in Kentucky, Summer League and now, in the NBA.

34% from 3 isn't really good and he wasn't a good FT shooter. Consistency has always been his problem.
The whole thing was that he had the mechanics and stroke to be able to knock down those shots. I'm farrrrrr from a basketball expert, but I don't really understand that logic. If the shots aren't falling for him when he has a picture-perfect stroke, why would they fall for him in the future?
Hopefully it's more rust than anything and getting time on the floor helps him.

needs to become a better shooter to reach anything close to his NBA potential.

Practice. He's been playing a high level of basketball for basically 2 seasons.
For what it’s worth...
Then again people also found a way to bash hardaway and his 34 so what do I know.

No, he didn't. He was a streaky shooter, kind of like what we're seeing now.

that is far from streaky and saying he can not make shots

You keep saying that. 34% from 3 isn't good. It may even be below average. 50% from 2...that's not that great either. Besides, how many of those were field goals?
He's an inconsistent shooter. He's more of a volume scorer than a shooter and I don't think he eclipsed above average TS% last year at Kentucky.
The top 100 current career active leaders in NBA 3P%, Curry is at the top at 43%, but he's going to the hall of fame and shouldn't be the standard for anyone.
Dirk is a career 38%
JR Smith .37% (lol)
Hayward .366%
Harden .365%
KP .360%
Thank you, NYGiants11...saying the same thing over and over again doesn't tell me anything.
Except I'm not. Knox was an extremely inconsistent shooter at Kentucky (undeniable), 34% from 3 line is average to below average and I'd still like to know how much of that 50% from 2 were drives/lay-ups and how much were actual field goal jumpshots.
So unless you have something to provide that NYGiants16 didn't, I suggest you take a walk.

this is the baby shit from kp i can not stand...
-Boston was down 32-13 and came back to beat the awful Suns
-Blazers quietly 9-3
-Bucks crushed Golden State 134-111, held Curry to 10 points

They gotta get KP on board. Clearly the knicks want to hold him out as long as possible. KP needs to understand the long term plan.

Fizdale did not even say anything wrong, he basically said he doesnt want to get ahead of himself woth kp and get excited about having him back..
plus he knew if he said kp was running aprints he would be asked a million questions every day and didnt want to put pressure on kp...
Knicks are finally the right kind of bad - ( New Window )
KP himself said he was going to take it slow and did not want to ckme back until he is 110%...
I guarantee he saw how well some of the young guys are playing and the style they are playing and is thinking if he is out there they win a few more of these games...
you could see the impatience coming especially when he posted about how much he misses playing...
instead he gets the well look they are throwing you under the bus got to take care of yourself.
i bet he got home and someone told him you got to show you are sprinting because this makes you look bad..

because it makes it seem like kp didnt like fizdale saying he was not sprinting yet and it makes it seem like him and the front office are not on the same page...
this is the stuff the media runs with...

Hopefully he only plays in 20-30 games which would mean sometime towards the end of Feb, beginning of March.

it is just annoying at this point, the vibe around the team and the view from around the league has changed. and now the media has ammo to create a narrative of dysfunction and not everyone on the same page once again
I get he wants to play, i have no doubt he is anxious to play. i would be worried if he was not anxious to play..
KP needs to unlearn what he has been shown, and not everything said in the press is a veiled attack.
so maybe as far as fizdale knew kp was not doing a lot more..fizdale did say he is trying not to thi k about kp back and trying to concnentrate on the guys hr has currently..

Where is Begley getting this from? The most recent post on KPs Instagram is from October 27. Also, how can you tell from a picture whether a guy is lightly running or sprinting?
Thomas started the first five games of the season but had then seen his minutes reduced dramatically as the Knicks committed to playing their youngsters. Over his last five appearances, Thomas averaged just 4.4 points and 1.4 rebounds in 11.1 minutes. He belongs on waivers in all fantasy formats. Kevin Knox is working his way back from an ankle injury, and will soak up the minutes Thomas leaves behind.

That's really..................such..............a............shame.
What's good for the Knicks isn't good for the player. It doesn't benefit him at all to milk the return. If he's perceived to be damaged goods, it affects his future earnings. Pretty simple.
kp was the one who said he was not returning until he was 110 percent...
Is this even a thing? I haven’t seen/heard/read anything negative about KPs rehab process. Where is this “perception” coming from? Thin air?

I agree. This whole thing sounds like a mountain out of a molehill.
Fizdale acknowledged he did NOT know KP was sprinting and also acknowledged the comments made KP respond.
You would think the Knicks would have communicated this "plan" aka playing dumb to KP.
Quote:
but if you could get beal and keep max space next year qould you do it? probably cost you a first and frank at minimum
Beal has to cost more than Frank and a first, no?
hence the part where i said at minimum
And do what with Hardaway's contract? The math doesn't work out to have two shooting guards being paid that much. Beal is making 25, 27, 27m the next three seasons. Hardaway another 17, 17, 18.

hardaway would have to be involved most likely...
it was just a thought sin e wizards are most likely going to blow it up...

In a perfect world yes they would get that but it’s not happening— play too hard and in a good system with good depth- doesn’t add up to top 5
Defining what those 2 have for upside is a bit silly- given the leap each is taking this year- in particular Allen who is a bit of a freak
But will Thibs be the next one to go?
