(CNN)A "Breaking Bad" movie is really happening, yo.
The series star Bryan Cranston appeared on Wednesday's episode of "The Dan Patrick Show" and confirmed the project. Link - ( New Window )
They somehow made Better Call Saul into a homerun. I think coming up with 50+ hours of compelling prequel, where we know the fates of the key characters, is much much more difficult than continuing the story for another 2 hours. I'm excited by this news.
and I wound up liking it more than B.B. so I won’t fully write this off. That said I don’t really want/need more of Jesse and Walt so I don’t really care about this as of now.
was the interesting and layered characters. There are so many directions a movie/new series could go. Given the success and quality of Better Call Saul, this run could last a very long time:
* Gus Fring background: coming from Chile, making it to Mexico, relationship with the other Chicken Brothers guy
* Hank Schrader: clearly the guy has some anxiety issues and overcompensates by putting up a bravado front. Must be an interesting backstory (similar to Mike's son in Philly).
* Walter's arc before cancer: how he rose to form Gray Matter, and even after that he was part of a nobel-winning team at a high tech chemistry institute (a plaque is shown in a flashback when they were shopping for houses I think). He had big plans, when they were looking for houses they wanted a big family and big house and he clearly saw a bright future. Something happened to place him as a mid-tier faculty member at a high school. And I'm sure it would be interesting to see how they dealt with their son having CP.
* Skinny Pete (he went from concert piano to not being able to spell "street"), Andrea, Jesse and countless others must have really compelling backstories that got them to where they are in Breaking Bad.
Did someone actually confirm WW died? It would be pretty cheesy if they resuscitated him or whatever.
In the video linked Bryan Cranston says "Maybe Walter White did get away with it. Was there a coroners report? Was there a listing in the obituary?" (Start around 2:50) Link - ( New Window )

We also know that Saul (Jimmy) makes it out to Nebraska. The other central characters to the meth were all dead. Doubt you could have a movie about the Whites or Marie or The Schwartz couple. But you need more than just Jesse. I trust Vince 100%. It should be amazing.

One storyline would very naturally be the DEA and police after Jesse. They wouldn’t know the whole deal with Jacks neo-nazis keeping Jesse captive, but they would be on the hunt for Hank’s killer and know of Hank’s long obsession with Jesse
have shown themselves to be excellent storytellers and have done an excellent job taking a character (Saul) and building out an entire new show around him that stands on its own.
They have earned my trust, let alone the benefit of the doubt, that they will figure out a way to make a compelling movie.
If it's before he broke bad, is it about the founding of gray matter?
Sounds boring.
And then if not, he's dead.
Of course Vince Gilligan is more creative than me so he'll I'm sure come up with something awesome.

If anyone can make it work it's Vince Gilligan.
Who knows, maybe Jesse will show up at the Cinnabon in Omaha.
