Here's another fun fact, per & #8294;& #8234;PFF& #8236;& #8297;: Janoris Jenkins allowed six TDs in the first eight games. He allowed five TDs in his first two seasons with the Giants. QBs have a passer rating of 129.4 against Jenkins this season. Rating was 65.2 in 2016

“27. NYG

To be quite honest, this might be one of the least surprising groups in the NFL in terms of their performance so far. The fact that free agent Patrick Omameh has already been benched, though, can at least qualify. He’s never graded out well for us at PFF, but his 51.5 overall grade this season has been a career low.”

- Baldwin has a great block too

Absolutely painful for any Giants fan or reporter to watch. This franchise had Solari employed, and he did an excellent job when you consider the FRINGE talent and no competition on the O-line when he was there, and yet they moved him for Hal Hunter who was out of football

at the Mike, a perfect Vince Costello replacement. Or, so I thought.
The Giants thought they did too

After a trial at DE he was moved to MLB when Vince Costello was injured and there was a magical afternoon in Dallas in 1968:

Associated Press Sports Writer NEW YORK (AP) - AUie Sherman said it all when Fran Tarkenton embraced him in the clubhouse after the New York Giants* upset of Dallas. “That was the greatest game any man could have played,”
“You were just great.” For his work in the victory over the Cowboys Sunday. 27-21 Tarkenton threw scoring passes of five yards to Joe Morrison and 60 yards to Homer Jones while completing 16 of 24 for
187 yards. He also scrambled 22 yards for one touchdown. “The key play was when we caught the Cowboys in the dog (linebacker blitz) and hit Homer with the bomb.”
said Tarkenton of the 60-yard play that put the Giants out front 21-14 in the third period.

Although Giant defenders did a rather noble job throughout, one fellow caught many eyes and Dallas ball-carriers. He was Henry Davis, the rookie from Grambling College and a prize draft pick. Intentions had been to bring him along slowly this year but the injury to Vince Costello at middle linebacker dumped him into the snake pit without warning. Henry was bitten often in the early going, but with his
lateral movement that he keeps arriving at spots where he has no right to be. By next season he'll have the same poundage as Nitschke of the Packers, 240, and may almost be in his class, too. "Some says Swede Svare, Giant line coach, "Henry will be the best linebacker in the game."

With the win the Giants went to 6-3 and had a shot at the playoffs

Capital Division

Dallas 7-2
Giants 6-3
Washington 4-5
Philadelphia 0-9

However in 1969 the Giants shuffled the deck at the LB group, Ken Avery was released; Tommy Crutcher moved from LLB to RLB and Davis was moved
to LLB with newly acquired Ralph Heck in the middle.

The Giants with changing defensive coaches and philosophies seemed to swap out linebackers annually, several let go by the Giants...Olen Underwood; Jerry Hillebrand, Ed Weisacosky, Avery and Davis all had solid careers elsewhere.

Davis went to Pittsburgh with John (Frenchy) Fuqua for QB Dick Shiner in 1970 and became a important part of the early Chuck Noll defenses.
