As Odell? If within the last three month Odell threw furniture out of a high rise condo window almost hitting a little kid, called the cops over his car being stolen and then slammed door in their face when they showed up, had multiple tantrums on sideline when not having it thrown to him and got cited for driving over 100mph this place would be in meltdown mode. These are isolated incidents with Brown either, he has been a much bigger malcontent than Odell but never gets criticized nationally for it. Blows my mind.
oh I agree. But isnt he top 5 in a lot of categories outside TDs? I mean Eli missed him a few times this year for scores - but he seems to put up big numbers in jsut about every game.
OBJ runs in a rich famous circle, with young glamorous people. The media is entrenched in that circle. OBJ is one of them.
Brown is a football player who lives half the year in Western Pennsylvania.

In the chin. When Brown pulls that type shit... let’s have a convo then.
This guy threw a furniture out a window that almost hit a toddler. Thats way way worse.
I guess you missed my earlier comment. It is not which is worse. We are answering a question as to why AB does not get the same negative attention. I pointed out that the things OBJ did happened on camera in a game. These things get replayed over and over again. If someone had video of AB throwing furniture out of a window then that would be shared 10 million times already AND he probably would have been suspended due to the video evidence.
Really not sure why people cannot understand the difference.
If you need one last piece of evidence as to what I am talking about....
Ray Rice's career would not have ended if there was no video camera in that elevator. Truth
Brown has done plenty on camera. He plays in a smaller town for a team with a lot more wins and other personalities that take the heat off of him. A rapist throws to him and their other best player is still holding out.

I wasn't responding to you
You are talking about media and public reaction to events.
Dep is talking about the actual severity of the action.
OBJ purposely tried to physically injure a guy with a cheapshot move.
Beckham isn’t in the spotlight because of a cheap shot on a dirty player from 3 years ago. If you believe that I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

But it is something that did happen. And he was very lucky he didnt permanently hurt Norman.
I dont give a flying fuck who he did it too. You run full speed and launch your helmet to someones chin when they arent looking.... thats a scumbag move.
You have a very odd take on this.
Has it ever occurred to you that while maybe, and thankfully, he hasn't killed granny and kicked a baby, in many other ways he's just not that likable a guy?
It's always some other excuse. The media hates him, he's mad about all the losing, he needs time to mature.
Beckham is a very good, yet not very likable player who has done a lot of stupid shit on and off the football field but thankfully nothing so far that is criminal or violent. What else is there to say?
OBJ purposely tried to physically injure a guy with a cheapshot move.
do you really think OBJ's cheap shot is worse than recklessly endangering the life of a 14 month old kid?
holy shit
You have a very odd take on this.
Cause we are talking about OBJ's rep. Bringing up shit he has done in the past is the reason for it.
a Bigger cheap shot? Now you are just being ridiculous. He lowered his shoulder while blockign during the play. OBJ speared a guy in the chin running full speed to do it.
Wow.
Gronk takes a lot of shit and he did with his actions against Buffalo last year. He may not take as much as OBJ, but that dickhead move he had last year was a black eye for him.
By the way, that viscous and criminal hit failed to even knock Norman off his feet.

Not for a lack of effort.

a better example here is Gronk. Why isn't Gronk looked at the same?

Stop. You are still referencing something from 3 years ago. People stopped talking about Gronk a week later. The reality is that Gronk is on a winning team. OBJ gets blamed by a certain group of fans that defend others.
You act as if Beckham's spearing of Norman is still the lead story on NFL Live.

I'd like to see a ven diagram of Eli OBJ haters and Eli apologists.

Do you think the Pats board still brings up the Gronk hit?

lol. And BBI has reached a new low.

how come a more recent and arguably bigger cheap shot isn’t talked about but Beckham’s is?

Wow.
The only one being ridiculous is you. Both were cheap shots, people only care about the one that was from 3 years ago, why is that? How many other cheap shots in the nfl happen weekly that are forgotten about a week later?
Need a longer shovel?

If they are talking about cheapshots and shit like that... yes I am sure they do. Because thats what we are talking about here. Not about OBJ's game or impact.
Its a negative attention thread so we are going to bring up things OBJ did that were NEGATIVE!!!!!
Oh why bother...

lol, pretty sure it would just be one big circle.
Players have bad moments. It happens. They play a violent game and run in emotions. Be mad at players with a bad history of it (Burfict, Roy Williams, Dawkins).
Oh why bother...
You are one of the most unobjective people on this board. You are harping on a comparison of dirty hits to keep from answering the real questions that you so often avoid.
This is bizarre.
All I know is both Gronk and OBJ were both suspended for their dirty hits because they were both scumbag moves. And no one really talks about either of the dirty hits anymore unless we are talking about cheapshots and negative attention like we are doing in this thread.
Yes it is.
I have to disagree with you on the idea that he was out of the league because he was not good anymore. The guy was the starting RB for the Ravens and was suspended over this incident after the video got out and before any court appearance. He was tried in the court of public opinion and the NFL made an example of him and started the domestic violence campaign. Again... without the video his girlfriend/wife probably never goes to the police and we never even know about this. Even if she does go to the police he gets suspended and then comes back after that suspension is over. People were outraged after seeing him knock her out and then drag her out of the elevator.
I will never argue with you that when that happened Ray had taken a step back as far as his effectiveness on the field. Without that video, at minimum he returns as a backup RB. I have no doubt about that.
I talked my friend out of stupidity last night when he wanted to bet against the Steelers because in his words, “ the Steelers are a dysfunctional mess and brown is always getting in trouble.”
Sure they are. And they are 6 and fucking 2.
I have tons and tons of evidence. Tons of proof. The only people distracted from wr diva behavior are the fans and sports writers. Fact!

The crap with Norman gets brought up because it was the start of some odd OBJ actions during games and off the field.
1)The Norman deal
2) Kicking net hitting him in the face after he punched it
3) Proposing to the net
4) Pissing like a dog as a TD celebration
5) The Boat trip
6) Filming himself shirtless in freezing weather in response to the boat trip and then stinking up the place during the ensuing playoff game
7) Trip to Paris being filmed eating pizza with some skank doing blow
8) Bagging on his team and teammates in an ESPN interview
9) leaving games early prior to halftime
10) Headbutting a cooling fan to the point that a rookie has to come over to calm him down.
It's not just the Norman fight, it's a pattern of selfish destructive acts that are detrimental to the team. Just when it seems he's matured he does something else that gets everything rehashed over and over again. In a media market like NY he's gold for them. The other thing to remember is that OBJ created a brand over himself. It was a savvy move and has made him extremely popular with a younger crowd but at the same time it brings more scrutiny than most NFL players
I don't know if the Panthers were going to hit him with a bat, but the mere fact he was threatened with a bat by a practice squad player, nonetheless, puts some context behind the emotion of the game and the eventual dirty plays
Quote:
Fans who actually believe the panthers were going to hit with him a bat before the game in the middle of the field make me wonder sometimes...

yeah I am not condoning what the Panthers did. And it was wrong and stupid of it. But do fans really believe they were going to use it on OBJ?
The Norman thing got him suspended. And he he got flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for pissing like a dog and slapping xavier Rhodes in the face on a play (not saying it was a huge detriment or something that doesnt happen) Just things he got flagged for,
I understand what you mean now

you did double up a bit, but a list with 10 awesome things looks much better. Curious though, other than the playoff performance, how was anything else detrimental to the team?

Gotcha. So now anyone that gets a flag is a detriment to the team, got it. BS. The Norman thing, detriment, until he scored a TD and got us right back in the game. Outside the Carolina thing, OBJ has never done anything other than bust his ass between the lines and help us win games. Thats it. All the other nonsense is an opportunity to deflect.
You don't think leaving the field early, bagging on the team and teammates, spearing Norman is not detrimental to the team?
