Yeah
MadPlaid : 11/9/2018 4:03 pm : link
I saw him in concert at the Bottomline Cabaret and Rock Club back in the late 80's
Buster Poindexter actually had a hit.

David Johansen

was the opening act at Shea in '82, followed by The Clash and then the F*cking Who!

I was stuck in traffic on the Whitestone Bridge when Johansen played (I turned the Whitestone a bit yellow as I peed off the side - traffic was completely stopped).

The Clash
Dr. D : 11/9/2018 4:17 pm : link
broke up pretty soon after.

The Who, blew me away that night and fortunately I've seen them quite a few times since.
Feeling hot, hot, hot

A guy from my hometown used to play with the band - Joe Delia.

His cover brought Soca
Pete in MD : 11/9/2018 4:20 pm : link
to the mainstream, long before "Who Let the Dogs Out?"
He also played a supporting role
bceagle05 : 11/9/2018 4:20 pm : link
in an obscure horse racing movie titled "Let it Ride," and was hilarious. Richard Dreyfuss played the lead role. One of my favorite movies.
I saw him once or twice in the late 90's,

I remember that show, and the rain. Traffic wads bad leaving the show as well. I fell asleep in the car for 2 1/2 hours on the ride home, when I woke up, we were just leaving the parking lot.
I saw David Johansen open for Aerosmith

Gotta be 1983 or so. The Back In the Saddle reunion tour when Joe Perry and Brad Whitfiord rejoined the band. He was terrible. We threw shit at him and booed him off the stage.
if anybody remembers the NY Dolls

I played for a bit with their guitarist Johnny Thunders in Ann Arbor in 81.

so ill be brief. JT was a sweet but very damaged music icon. We recorded together and he wanted me to tour with him and Wayne Kramer (MC5) in Europe but he was a stone cold junkie so I passed. It was exciting working with him when I wasnt literally propping him up.

Poindexter. A low point in his career albiet a profitable one. If you have a chance to see David Jo sing acoutic blues and old Dolls songs, take it
David Johansson and the Animals played

I saw him open for U2 (along with Robert Hazard) at SUNY Albany's Mayfest in '83.

I believe the ticket was $7 if you were a student.

U2 really took off shortly after that.

It was a very small, on campus, outdoor venue.

I was always a fan of good ol' David Jo.
